Akikan!

One of the series I'm currently following this Winter season.
While I heavily enjoy this anime, and everyone knows I love these types of comedy, romance, school-related, sort-of-ecchi, anime, there are a lot of significant flaws (IMO).

Animation/Artwork: Poor and surprised me since the scans' quality were so high,
though I guess "scans" are kind of like manga, in terms of different artwork all the time.

The animation is not that good though, but I'm not surprised in seeing this with animes I'm watching/following because it might be budget limitations or something like that.

Romance/Love: "?". I "*sigh*" when I see this in anime that include them, even if it's minor or not even that major,
cause I love romance and love moments, and I do enjoy the cheesy stuff to some extent,
but the love and romance connections in this anime are like a "whatever" to me.

Characters: I hate Kakeru, overall. He has good moments and a good heart inside,
but his plain attitude is just like that of Saito in the Zero no Tsukaima series.
Japanese teenage perverts with good hearts, but I enjoy Saito more cause he's not some sex slave, he's a good person indeed.

Story: I've never seen something like cans turning into actual hot/cute girls before,
I've seen similar "concepts" back in the day a little, but nothing quite like Akikan thus far.

The whole master-servant thing reminds me of Sekirei, if anyone's seen that,
though instead of having multiple girls to serve alongside of you, you're only limited to one (as I know so far anyways).
Also the fact that the Aluminum cans vs. Steel cans, the Akikan Elect, is just like the Sekirei Plan!

This anime is almost a complete rip of Sekirei.

I love Melon, she's insanely hot and I love her,
and the other girls in the anime aren't that bad either.
Najimi is adorable, though I think sometimes when she dozes off, she gets even more perverted than Saito does with huge "Melons". XD!

I can't wait to see the other characters and other Akikan.
The fighting is lacking and not as enjoyable a Sekirei was, for example, but I'll continue to follow this anime.

Speaking of Sekirei for a moment, I miss it so much. T_T

Yeah one of the series i'm following too. Although not as high on my depth chart as other new series, however i still find the chance to see it.

First of all i agree with DAngel-san that it is a 'sort of' rip-off of series like Sekirei, Ikkitousen, Tengo Tenge...etc, but on a lesser scale.

The scans look so good cause it is drawn by one of the 'Shuffle' artist...i believe it is Hiro Suzuhira if i'm not mistaken. The animation in the anime is very reminicent to series from the older times like late 80's early 90's but for me growing up in those times i don't mind it at all. I guess my standards for animation is pretty low.

Oh with the concept...i guess you don't know much about that since it is pretty common in hentai games & anime series, where any sort of item will turn into a hot 'busty' chick. Story wise it is the norm for most ecchi/harem series where the main hero gets involved with many female characters...not that it is a bad thing cause i love those sort of series regardless of them being bad or good. For the most part they are just harmless fun series.

[@Izumo] Yeah, I can say I've watched, other genres and types of h*****. XD
I do follow on you about the quality of the animation though, but overall it doesn't bother me too much to distract me.

Speaking on another topic, the OP is the BEST!! 11/10 type stuff, the perfect pop/trance type intro I love for these types of anime.
Japan's been doing these since the '90s or so and it never gets old. =^_^=

Well being a virgin like Kakeru is i guess it is natural for him to act that way....man he must be really desperate! :D

I can see a WHOLE lot of 'H doujin' being made out of this series, just cause of the concept & the fact the main dudes a virgin. Also Hiro Suzuhira-san's artwork is always very popular to begin with.

just watched this one recently. I was searching for a good anime for
past time when something in my head bounce of. And the title was "Akikan".
Like Danchou and Izumo-san said, Sekirei rip xD. I just like the character
design and build-up but the story is not that great compared to other
series. The story is unique but all in all its just a good past watching
time. No offend for Akikan lovers ;] I also love "MELON" though xD

[ i z u m o - s a n ]
- lol H doujin huh xD seems like they really love to make "side" stories
for each anime series. Been collecting some works but not by this artist.
I like Kusaragi Gunma's artwork < try to search and for sure you'll find
lots of his work. Im not a maniac but its a really really good reference
material for me since im a female lover ;]
hehehe care to share some links >w<

[@Izumo] Yeah, I know what you mean. I've seen a few "titles" with that type of set up/story line.

Don't be surprised with H-doujin with this type of series.
I've seen a lot with titles that just need to contain sexual characters, and Akikan!'s definitely a sure contender.

Though forget about doujin, this can totally be a h***** series, but probably won't since it's not that dramatic enough.
I can't really explain it, but I doubt it, plus a LOT of fanservice/ecchi animes that contain sexual moments never even get close to h***** transition from anime.

So far, it's been a pretty good series. The only thing I really dread is the animation, but the artwork is nice overall.
I guess sometimes, inconsistency happens, which happens in about 97.854% of anime, it's just that simple.

Episode 8, a really good episode and I LOVE these episodes.
Akikan! sure turned a 'pool-swimsuit-hot-girls-melon-yell-cute-bikinis-sexy' episode into a side story, background thing,
where normally you see a ton of sexual content, ecchi fanservice, etc.
What I loved though, is that they used it as a "prop", if that makes sense, to build what this episode was truly about.
A bit of character development here, and my love for Yell grows.
She's really perfect, or Yell = one type of perfect in my book, and she's closing in on Melon being my favorite, but it's really close.

I loved how she scared off that annoying Buduko by trying to pet her. XD!
She thought Yell was going to rape her or something, which then would've been really weird.

Poor Gigolo, he's not only a serious case of bad luck, but he's in love with a lesbian who doesn't notice him at all, lol.
How dare Kakeru fall asleep during a confession, though regardless, they get along so well.
It was so cute how she was trying to confess and hr Kakeru rader or whatever was tingling.

I wonder if this Akikan Elect is ever going to take place, lol, and it's not so much like the Sekirei Plan anymore actually. :P

The plot in anime differs from the light novel at some points:

-Budoko died once during the first encounter with melon in Volume 1.
-Kakeru is supposed to have another Akikan aside from Melon.
-Akikan Elect was actually taking place.

Oh, so you can have more than one Akikan? Are there going to be more (I mean, it should be obvious but they show no signs of others yet).

[EDIT] Episode 9's version of the ending song was really nice.
The way it was sung, was like french or something! It sounded so sweet and I've never heard Japanese sung like that before, seriously.

The episode showed more heart from Kakeru, which was nice,
though the final scene with Kakeru and Melon was portrayed so poorly. Something the anime lacks. :/

I wish this could be remade or something! And nothing about the Akikan Elect yet.

[EDIT-2] The anime finished, which was a shame, but the ending was totally random and felt "last minute".
We got a glimpse of all the other Akikan (as Zeros) but that was a huge shame to not actually meet them personally as well as with their owners.

"Miku's" situation was totally a laugh scene, but I thought she'd be his second Akikan as mentioned.
You could say the Akikan Elect took place, but it was just some random fight to take down the nameless Akikan.

I think this totally needs to be remade, reminds me of Mahou Sensei Negima, later being made to Negima!?.
