 So, now that everyone, including the thousands of experts and professional analysts apparently present on the net have offered their intelligent opinion on this matter, what do you guys think? It's the teaser for a next Metal Gear game that Konami has posted on it's site and it's got so many MG fans abuzz with rumors, zombie rumors (How I like to refer to rumors which are constantly dismissed but cease to stay down) and tonnes of people saying they have the answer to it based on the ever present 'cold hard facts' as one user put it. So anyone here have any thoughts on the matter? Feel free to elaborate, but please don't bring 'facts' into this. Nothing worse on the internet than hearing people talk as if they have direct involvement in the project or know everything about what goes on at Konami. Oh, and before we get into this talk, the power button at the end is present on just about all consumer electronics ranging from your iPod to your printer, not just the 360. It's the IEC 5009 International symbol, generally meaning a Standby state or Power. Personally, the best thought I've heard so far is 'A next Metal Gear is On' as if to say, another MG game is currently underway.    |

A lot of people are assuming its Metal Gear Acid due to the "i". If that is the case it would seem more believable.  Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

I find that more believable personally. Although Acid started out pretty quiet it did make up for it with Acid 2 (Which I personally loved to death and have at least 70 hours playing time. Just wish my friends liked it so I could actually battle someone other than AI bots). I'd like to see a new Metal Gear Acid very much, but it will probably turn out to be another overblown game attempting to breath more life into the Solid Snake and/or Big Boss story. I know Konami is capable of some great stuff and even more so when you look at team Kojima, but I'm not quite convinced they can pull off another good Metal Gear game without resorting to using some form of Solid Snake or Big Boss. Only time will tell, and I'd like it if I was proven wrong on that by the team, but until then I'm not sure if they can. They've relied on the character of Snake for so long, and now that the story is over I don't know if they can come up with anything new that they believe they can roll with, so instead they will take the well beaten path as it were and just make another game that takes place somewhere in the Metal Gear Solid story. We already know that they are able to retcon the story until it makes sense in order to make a new game, so it's probable that they will again. It will be interesting to see if Kojima Productions are risk takers or safe betters. I swear, if they retread the Solid story again I will not be playing the new game, no matter what it is. MGS4 ended the story, no more MGS, it was a great ride but it's time to try something new. The biggest question on my mind about this new game so far is, will Kojima be taking part in it? Sure, he said MGS4 was the last game he would have direct involvement in, but he also said he was going to stop after MGS3 as well, and he came back. I'd like to see Kojima branch out, the man has a lot of potential, and honestly it's being wasted by sticking solely to Metal Gear. Zone of the Enders was a nice start, Zone of the Enders 2 was great as well as under appreciated, so how about Zone of the Enders 3? Or an entirely new game? Something that shows us he isn't just a one trick pony. UPDATE: Well, they announced the game, it's actually Metal Gear Touch for the iPhone. Turns out Kojima was using the green power symbol to mess with peoples minds (as he often does with his games), and it also looks like they will be placing it in the Metal Gear Solid 4 world, meaning that my doubts proved correct, they are opting to stay on the beaten path, at least for now. |

A lot of people just got owned. Xbox fanboys must be in utter shock, I am pretty sure they were blasting the gaming community on how a new MGS would be on their system. Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

Kojima does things like that a lot, he loves being sneaky. I have to say though, it was pretty entertaining to watch people trying to figure out the message and link it to their belief like some kind of conspiracy theory. |

The game series really needs to connect with its roots.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

I think the game series needs to let go of the Solid Snake/Big Boss storyline and try a new one. It was an awesome story with interesting characters, and it came to a great end, but can we just leave it at that and not continue to make games based around it until it turns stale? I loved Metal Gear Solid 4, I loved the whole story from Metal Gear to Metal Gear Solid 4, but can you just move on and try something new with it? I'm pretty sure just about every major question that people had with the back story, characters and events in the Metal Gear universe has been answered, don't ruin it. All I can really say about Metal Gear Solid Touch is that it had better not spawn more Metal Gear Solid games. |

i dont think metal gear will ever go to microsoft cause one time we all saw they say MGS4 will be for 360 i was like nooo! dont sell out on sony and then they couldnt make it for 360 cause it wouldve been on like 6 cds and they would have to cut a lot out. i heard kojima say he had to cut some off from the ps3 cause the blu ray had "LIMITED" memory, wow 60gb disc is limited to him sheesh. 360 games only hold about 8 cause its dual layered. Wat i want kojima to start working on as fast as possible for ps3 is Zone of the Enders 3! ive been waiting like forever now i think. and metal gear series is done now guys hideo wanted it to end at 2 but we wanted more so he gave us 4 and he said it shouldve been the true ending. give it a rest guys calm down your insatiable thirst for metal gear. there isnt going to be a 5 unless its a new storyline of a new guy and maybe itll be about a spy from japan that has to do with nuclear deterrance or something.  |
