I got it, we already talked about it a bit. My thoughts- I find the story suffers throughout due to the lack of a third person omnipresent view. Rachel Parker offered most of that narration during Resistance 1 and it made the story seem a lot more involved. We don't get to hear much in Resistance 2 though, it's just kind of jumping from mission to the next with little snippets of story through the other soldiers and intel. I kind of wish they had kept it. Co-operative for the most part is enjoyable, the only problem I have with it is when it comes to the boss creatures/commanders. The more players are taking part the more time it takes to kill them. The problem with this is the big boss guys have a lot of health and the AI can't really handle so many player characters. So basically you stand around holding the fire button for about 10 minutes to slowly drain away the enemies health while the boss stumbles around drunkenly trying to focus his attention on one of eight or so people attacking him. In a word, they are rather boring. Competitive needs tweaking, at least in my view. Everyone has access to all the weapons right away which is fairly annoying when people can run around firing Incendiary Grenades and camping out with Sniper Rifles as soon as they spawn. Weapons don't feel as cool as in the first Resistance. The new weapons don't feel that fun to use. In the first Resistance you get weapons such as the Hellfire (ricochet chain gun style that can fire ammo as a floating turret), Auger, Organic Mines (Which I honestly didn't use much, but they were kinda cool.), Dragon (Flamethrower, glob like stuff), Backlash grenade (which is really cool). On the other hand R2 has like a Magnum that can explode the bullets, Auger (just a recycle from Resistance), Grenade launcher (pretty much just the Dragon except it's an explosive shell instead of a flamethrower). Although the Splicer is pretty cool. Voice work could have been done better. Not that the acting was bad, but the characters that talk to you during actual gameplay all sound like they are talking through a comm link (even when they are standing directly in front of you and not wearing a comm) and it just feels strange. I'd prefer to just get comm transmissions from soldiers away from me and actually hear the voice clearly of the person standing two feet away. The Chameleons are the cheapest creatures in the game. If there is one enemy in this game I wish was never introduced it is this thing. It is impossible to kill until it's visible and within 10 feet of you, it's invisible and it kills you the second it reaches you in a single hit. They aren't difficult to kill since they die in about 2 or 3 shots and usually charge you head on, but half the time they change positions. They also appear from nowhere without warning, so they are bound to surprise kill you maybe 4 or 5 times. Maybe if they made them invisible and removed the one hit kill mechanic they could be a nice once and a while enemy, but they're just an annoyance. The enemies tend to rush you, A LOT. They usually pop into an area, hang around cover for a little bit and then charge straight on towards you. Sometimes they just bypass cover all together and swarm you. It's kind of an annoying tactic in single player since you are (for the most part) on your own. No I'm not talking about the melee enemies that don't have guns, even enemies with weapons charge straight towards you and swarm you when they are aware of you. The guys with shields are understandable since they charge you with shield up to deflect damage and then either hit you or shoot at you, but the guys without shields just run for you blindly a lot of the time. |

yeah thats one bad thing in Resistance 2, the voice overs are too low, you only hear shooting & explosions & not the soldiers talking os if anything the voice overs are bad but the game itself is remarkable & it's about time the Bullseye becomes much better cause in this one it shoots straight & it doesn't spray nemore. |

"it's about time the Bullseye becomes much better cause in this one it shoots straight & it doesn't spray nemore." That's why it had the homing tag as a secondary fire though. That tag is pretty much worthless in R2 since, as you pointed out, the Bullseye has much tighter grouping. No point in using the tag since it's now very accurate.(I didn't use the Bullseye much anyway, I loved the Carbine too much) |
