Sound Card Issues
|
Maybe someone can help me with this, because I'm at a loss. Recently my computer's motherboard went bad, so I replaced it, which naturally means I replaced the onboard sound card with a new onboard sound card. I'm running the same rig as before, with my PC hooked up to my stereo system, using the same music player, this new motherboard even uses realtek audio drivers like my old one did (I did install new ones off of the motherboard CD, though) The problem is that ever since I installed this new motherboard/sound card, my ears have been hurting when I listen to music (and don't get me started on video). It's complicated to explain... it's not quite the feeling you get when you know the bass is too loud on something, but I can definitely feel it in my ears from the moment I turn the audio on. I've messed with the equalizer, turning down either the bass or the treble helps a little but not enough to say the problem is fixed (plus everything sounds bad). And it's not a problem with my ears, my Zune and car stereo sound just fine. :) The sound chip in question is Realtek ALC888. |

New motherboards can come faulty also. I recommend to return the motherboard first or ask for an exchange. If problem still exists, you might want to do what I would do at this time after exchanging. Reformat, it does wonders to have a fresh start. |

Usually you'll feel bad and your ears will be hurting when you replace your mother board. just try to listen to music for a few hours and you'll get used to it. If you don't, just lower your master volume and wave from your desktop and make some adjustment to your stereo system equalizer and volume. It's quite difficult to do it. Sometimes you must change your sound environment setting. But I recommend you to use forest or padded cell in your environment settings. If this isn't solve your problem, then you can edit your sound environment configuration setting. |

There is some possible problems why you experiencing that with some common solutions ... 1. Your onboard soundcard is defected. The solution in here is to replace it or install an new soundcard in your PCI Card Slot. 2. Your onboard soundcard is not yet configured in your OS. Sometimes the problem is the default setup. Some soundcard driver have a default Bass Volume, 3D Sound Effect, and other Sound Settings that is unpleasant in our ears (I experience that one). Try to configure your sound settings and lower the volume level of your Bass and turn of the 3D Sound Effect. You must also manually configure your Speaker after doing those things. 3. You plug your Speaker jack in your onboard soundcard loosely. If you didn't plug the 3.5 or 2.5 jack of your speaker in your onboard soundcard firmly, it will produce unpleasant sound. Just try to check it while you play some test sound in your computer. But sometimes your jack plug in your onboard soundcard doesn't connect to the jack firmly because of some connection defects. Try to consult a PC-Technician for that if that is the problem. 4. Speaker defect. If your speaker is defective, this will the result of it. Although you didn't say that your speaker is not causing the problem before you install your new motherboard with an onboard soundcard, try to check if your speaker have defects now, especially the wirings in your jack connection. 5. OS Incompatibility or OS Bug. If your new onboard soundcard is not supported by your current OS, it will not run properly, so try to install a new OS for your system. But if your OS has a bug in your Driver, that's means that OS Bug is actually causing it. Try to reinstall your OS to solve it. Those are the common problems and sollutions for your soundcard problem. But for your info, there are some other possible problems conserning in your soundcard that is not included in there because those problem are so technical that can only be solve by a PC Repair Man while observing your PC Problems personally. |
