lol, how ironic, I recently had spyware and a virus (of some sort). Used some Malwarebyte program, as well as Spysweeper, XoftSpeSE, and RegCure. XoftSpeSE was #1 last year on some website, and I've had Spysweeper since last year. Malwarebyte helped get rid of the problems on my computer since late Sunday night, but I also had help from a user on another forum after searching for some help, and it worked out fine. :D ------- |

I think BitDefender and Kaspersky are the best :-). Though you must purchased both :-). You can try spybot and malwarebytes though both are free (anti malware).

Nod32. If you like Kaspersky, this is better (reviews concur :P). It eats up less RAM + it`s faster. :) although some say that it`s less user-friendly~ but if you`re computer-savvy, then it`s no problem. ;) m y . L i F E . i . t r a d e . i n . f o r . y o u r . P A i N . |

kaspersky is very nice, it updates regularly and doesn't give your pc that much lag if i have to make comparisons... kaspersky > mcafee/norton/avg/etc well there was an instance when kaspersky was able to find a malicious worm (couldn't remember if it was virus or worm) in my pen drive, w/c mcafee failed to detect, so i came to the assumption that it's really the best (since everyone i know here are pro-mcafee lol) i think all (if not, most) anti-virus programs have their free trial versions you should sample then compare, if you really want to find out the best anti-virus |

Reviews unanimously agree that NOD32 is as good as or better than Kaspersky Anti-Virus in all but one area: Reviews of last year's version 2.7 said NOD32 had an unintuitive and confusing user interface. However, early reviews of the brand new version (3.0) indicate that the program is considerably improved, though still not very elegant, and some say that expert users might be happiest with the software as it still needs some tweaking for best results. Computer experts say NOD32 offers great protection, no system drain and no software conflicts. User satisfaction with NOD32 is much higher than with any other antivirus program. It consistently earns top average ratings, while competitors earn average ratings or worse thats all why i use nod32 this is for free anti virus: Professional reviewers conclude that AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition is the best of the free antivirus programs, and it is handily the most popular as well. No substantial reviews compare free and commercial programs, but reviews of the commercial version of AVG provide one yardstick. That program fares poorly when compared with Kaspersky and NOD32, among others. AVG and other free programs offer much less user control than commercial programs, but users swear they work. If you're diligent and careful about your personal security practices, free antivirus software might be enough. |

I use avgfree 8.0 so far it does the job. but i pair it with spy bot search and destroy(it helps a lot in keeping bad sites from installing stuffs on your computer). spy wares are much more dangerous than viruses. usually if i scan my pc with spy bot, AVG also kicks in if spy bot happens to pass by a virus. I can actually search for spy wares, registry changes, and viruses all at once. most viruses now a days tend to change stuff on registry which makes you and your PC go crazy. never tried NOD though I only go for free stuff. |

I use NOD32 3.0.642 for my vista systems it works really well and I find it very simple to use and uses very very little system resources (28 mb). However, for my XP systems, I use Norton Anti-virus Corporate version (14 mb). I would use norton for Vista but the version i got from work is only for XP. |
