this seems like a real system error; it might not have anything to do with a virus or anything. Well there's two options that you can explore, the first being dig out your xp-install disc (if you have one) pop it in when the computer starts up and pressing R when it comes up with the option to repair in the bottom when the computer autoboots to the disc. That might get it. Obviously a surefire method to fix it would be to reinstall windows, but I assume that you want to try not to do that if you can. I noticed from your profile you're in Indonesia. I'm a clueless American, but do you have any other languages installed on your OS by any chance other than English? You said the error code on the MS site had something to do with Italian language settings, so perhaps it may be a regional unicode setting problem. Try going into the Control Panel and click Regional and Language options, then click the last tab (can't remember what it's called and the vista machine I'm on calls it something else), and make sure the "Current Language for Non-unicode programs" is set to whatever language you think it's supposed to. I'd try that and if that doesn't work more information can always be of help...

Once again, Wrong! explorer.exe is your main computer operating system's browser. Basically, every time you start your computer and log in, the program that makes all the icons on your desktop appear and all your windows and my computer, etc., that you open, is explorer.exe You're thinking of iexplorer.exe Cloud. @Lockey: Another possible solution you might try is instead of doing the whole recovery console thing with the XP disc, instead, run the XP disc on startup, say the whole F8 'I agree' stuff, say you want to reinstall (don't worry yet), and when it brings up the menu that shows your computer's partitions (it'll look like a list near the bottom with lists of hard drive space and stuff), select the main drive that your computer uses to boot into XP from and press R. Instead of running the recovery console, this will rewrite the main windows files to your hard drive without harming any of your personal files. If THAT doesn't work, then the only reasonable option left is well.....you know..... (dun dun duuuuuunnnn!) But hopefully it doesn't come to that.

The problem is something affecting windows explorer.exe "not internet explorer", or a memory problem but since you don't get blue screen of death then it is something affecting you. Solution is simple, go to a healthy system and copy C:\windows\system32\explorer.exe to a usb flash drive, login, Ctrl+alt+del, End process explorer.exe, back to tasks tab and click a new task, open flash drive from there copy explorer.exe, past it into system32. Restart and enjoy. |

Are you sure explorer.exe can be deleted? Windows protects those essential files, making them undeletable, like svchost.exe. |

nope, when it's closed it can be deleted or replaces, that's what I did.. if you can't do it then mine is not protected because a virus changed it's attribute, then you cab permit deletion manualy. |

'-' i remember i have such problem before... (thinking... um..) i remember that time i was installing an anti-virus(not sure which is it anymore) and subsequently i have this problem coming up.. supposedly i have restart and then my explorer.exe has problem and the whole screen went blank except my wallpaper... so my solution is that i ctrl+alt+del and then on the 'windows task manager'-Processes i try to find 'explorer.exe'(if it was active) and end process and then press 'file'>'new task(run..)>explorer>OK the explorer.exe will disappear from the 'processes' so i keep retrying doing the same thing until the explorer.exe came out '-';;; so.. i was thinking .. maybe you miss something that is necessary to install inside your computer.. but i am not sure what it was lol ._. or maybe it's inflicted with anti-virus but i hope i was wrong=~= |

You was installing kaspersky, unoriginal version, that's their protection method against uninstall/reinstall using other key. thx god I have original bidefender it's as cheap as 20 bucks for one year here, and as strong as an iron shield. |

i guess most of these guys answered your question already. but i believe h4xor dud3 said it best. i have experienced this a lot of times with my PC and the thing to do is to repair the corrupted parts of your OS. if that doenst work, then there's always the MASTER RESET (aka format c: ) :)) |
