Why Do People Like Anime Characters?

While I was at work today, I was talking to a coworker about how I thought anime guys were really hot, inspired by the Bleach poster we had just put up advertising the movie "Memories of Nobody" (which plays in theaters for two days, July 11-12...or something like that) My coworker thought I was crazy and asked me why I liked "cartoon characters" so much while pointing out that anime guys weren't real. >o<" When he asked me, I had a few ideas, but nothing really specific. Finally, after getting a pen and paper and brain storming ideas for 20 minutes (customers kept coming so I was distracted XD) I came up with a list which I dubbed "Why Anime Guys Are Hot", consisting of 8 personal ideas. A few of them were... - "You can fantasize about them all you want and they can't find it creepy...because they aren't real." T^T - (to counter this...) "Because they aren't real, you can't ever get your heart broken." XD - "They just are." ^w^ - "The things they do are hot (like demon hunting) >w< - (and lastly) "Anime guys are images/guidelines to a girl's ideal REAL guy, just like celebreties are." So why do YOU like anime characters? :3

I have to say that your last point is true. Another thing is, anime/manga characters are little ideal in a way even though they have their flaws. They are created and eventually have a "happy ending" in life, something that I think we all have. And yeah, it is like we look up to them like others look at celebrities. =3 But then again, real people can't have cool hair like some anime/manga characters now can they?

Gotta agree with raizoken there... Appearance-wise anime characters are definitely different with real humans, but i, as a real human, can still see the faces of some anime girls as "pretty" or "cute". Probably people are confused at this because they can't see something other than real humans as pretty. Well, it's art, i can understand that. I can't see Picasso's paintings as pretty either :P You can also like the characters because they have the personalities ideal to you. The wonders of imagination and creativity. I'm glad to be a human. :D But there's another case where someone can only like those unreal characters, they don't like real humans... Now this is quite weird. -_- |

maybe because they like it......k that weird........every anime character has different character from a normal human so thats why we like anime character, they have power,that have weird characteristic n so on  |

i agree that some of them kind of idealise of what someone would lke, so everyone has their own faves based on what they like. with ones that do hot things, i think its kinda like its because theyre different and stand out, making you like them for it too. i dont know, its just what i think. but really, some anime guys are really hawt xD  |

anime is art, and its normal to admire art isn't it xD well said rai! and i agree, what the heck is wrong with admiring an animated character and a real person? all the senses in the body still react the same way when you at a cute girl and a cute anime girl right? its like what madarame said in genshiken...when asked why are they "admiring" anime girls... i'd quote it but i forgot the line T.T |
