What do you recommend in making a Visual Novel?

I was thinking of making a visual novel or something similar for summer this year.. I just want to ask what programming language or something should you recommend for me? I was thinking of doing it on Flash.. but I have totally no idea about it and there also other way of making them like NScripter.. hmm I wonder..

Flash is a piece of cake. It's easy to use, has an *actually* helpful help menu if you need it and it has tonnes of image editing/creating tools. I've never bothered with anything other than flash cuz it's more reliable.  |

maybe for starter you should use flash, but i'm really curious if someone want to do it on HTML hahahah lol, there a hell lot of notepad needed ^^

| HTML in notepad, where do you come from the stone age? Dreamweaver FTW, it would have to be DHTML/PHP both with a touch of Javascript... but yes a basic HTML one would be doable :) |

Well, you can do it in the programming language that is familiar to you. If you don't have one then follow renshi's, hearms' or port3ms' recommendations. I was thinking of doing it on Flash. Because visual novels need some visual effect ^^   Follow the road you believe in --> |

I highly suggest looking into this: Ren'Py It's pretty much designed exactly for this. Assuming you have some idea with scripting, then you should find it's not hard to make stuff in it.
Beware the quiet people,

Theres a lot of visual novel engines out there. I guess the only thing thats worth worrying about is the storyline. ^^;  |

I usually use Flash, Visual Basic, and Java to create Visual Noble Game (Dating and Story-Line Scenario type). But you need a knowledge to script using those compilers and graphic editing knowledge. It is a harsh to do and time-consuming also (importantly coding). Renpy is much OK! I've use this after h4xor dud3 says it to this forum and gives me a unexpected result. It is very easy and fast to use. Thanks h4xor dud3 ^_^. |

For XiaoNewbieZ If my projects you're requesting, I can't find a free webhoster that can upload a .EXE or .RAR File with almost 30MB+ (my biggest is 73.8 MB because I use an BMP Picture using VB). But if you can suggest any, I will happily upload it. Just give me time to find it and upload it one by one. ^_^ |

For XiaoNewbieZ I hardly and can't upload it because of file capacity and my internet speed. Although I'm planning to minimize the size using h4x0r dud3's introduced program (Ren'Py). And I'm finding my graphics that I just used in order to compress it also to make it less than 20MB. ^_^ |
