Help Finding A Good Anime Series
Link | by on 2007-12-28 13:47:04
There are so many anime series, I want a few good ones to try. I like Bleach, Naruto, FLCL, Blood+, Ghost in the Shell, Tenchi and some others, mostly the ones on American TV. I'm looking for something with some fighting action and not too boring of a plot. Suggestions anyone?

Thanks for your help. You guys are great!

"Claymore" or "Chrno Crusade" are two of my favorites that are really good.
You could search around the anime section for more help.

Actually if you like shounen type series, although it's not exactly fighting, Eyeshield 21 is really cool (it's on toonamijetstream.com for free too)

If you can get past some boring talking episodes any of the Gundam series are good.

精霊の守人(せいれいのもりびと) which is Guardian of the Sacred Spirit I believe.

It probably has some of the best animation quality I've ever seen in an anime. The story is based off of a novel series in Japan. Admittedly, there are a few episodes where the story stagnates as they draw the life that Chagum leads while with Balsa, but it goes at a decent clip.

26 episodes.

Fighting huh? THen you should go for Kateikyo hitman reborn, it's getting lots of food reviews lately...
it's one of my favorite 'typical fighting shonen' type of anime.

Thanks for the help everyone. Started with Claymore, its is pretty good. I didn't think that I would like Death Note at first, but it is really interesting. Maybe I'll try some more like this too. All of your suggestions are welcome. Keep them coming! I will probably try most of them.

Thanks Again!

If you like fighting, you might like Samurai 7, I found it interesting.
I would also recommend Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing, and Basilisk.
Others that I would recommend are more or less comedic, or otherwise less action based, such as Excel Saga (Hilarious) and the Legend of Black Heaven (hard rock saves space).

I hope these help.

Heroic age (Very good if you like mech fighting)
Gundam Seed
Gundam Seed Destiny (IMO the old characters kick the new character's respective butts)
GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka, School anime but great nonetheless,)
School Rumble Season 1 (Season 2 was a big let down with the exception of the in-school DEATHMATCH!!) *ahem*
Night Wizard The Animation
Trigun (a classic)
Full Metal Alchemist
Full Metal Panic (A MUST HAVE)
Full Metal Panic Fumoffu? (A MUST HAVE ALSO)
Fate/Stay Night

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, I'll have to look at my dvd archives back at my dorm next week assuming you still want some more titles.

I strongly recommend Death Note. Don't be fooled by the title, this anime is excellent in any way. I started watching Death Note a week ago and I am now at episode 26. The genre is thriller--- where the main character Light made use of Death Note to 'bring justice' by writing the names of criminals and specify their death sentence, along with time of death. With Light's goal to be a god of the new utopia, it's not as easy as what it seems. The Tokyo police and Interpol found this mysterious deaths were unreal and murderous. Another character, commonly known as L, who was an excellent crime case solver, also have the intention to find "Kira", the one behind the mysterious killings of criminals (and prisoners). L joined forces with Special Case Unit team, together they will track down the trickster Kira. When I say trickster, Light manages to distort the facts and keep the name "Kira" away from suspicion.

It is an excellent anime, the story is well-plotted and the action is a never-ending thriller. But so far I hate Misa though, a surviving female character in the situation, she's so damn annoying. But anyway, the overall, brilliant story.
