I'm kind of new to the otaku and Japanese community here at Gendou. I don't know much about Cosplay or conventions or any of that. I would really like it if some one could explain these things because they sound very intresting. I'd like to be able to join events like those that you guys talk about and they sound like a lot of fun. I watched some cosplay videos on YouTube by many other cosplayers. It looks and sounds very interesting so please, can you help me understand? I'd appreciate it very much^^  |

Here's a start: Otaku, Cosplay, anime-con (anime convention). A list of anime conventions can also be found here. You can click on which one is closest to you and found out more info on that certain anime-con. Not sure if the information is 100% accurate, but there's a ton of content included there. Hmm, did a quick Google search and found another site that tells you about anime-cons: http://www.animecons.com/. Don't feel stressed out if you actually do go to an anime-con, and don't cosplay. Just enjoy the show and explore as much as you can! I cosplayed for the first time this past Halloween, and personally, it was incredible! I wanted to go to an anime-con before, but none are ever near my area so it's quite difficult. Plus, I need a bunch of people to go with since my cousins like, moved away and left me. (:\ You might not know it, but just like anime is still getting more and more popular, cosplaying is greatly getting popular as well. There are costumes online and websites dedicated all on cosplaying, and even some people are so passionate enough and make their own from scratch! They'll cut their hair, dye their hair, get certain contacts, etc. to be an anime character. You can call it "weird" or "stupid", since the result is you spend a lot of money and whatnot... but I call it "passion!" XP I know there are some real professionals here who can describe the life of a true cosplayer better than me, but yeah, I'm just giving you a basic, simple idea. Now you can find some REAL professionals in there and your mouth will just drop to the floor after you see some of the reall good ones, seriously! [sidenote] Some are really hot, too, so try to contain yourself now. XD Hoped I helped out a little bit. If not, I'm sure someone can step in and lend me a hand... ;P
