Do you agree if younger can not speak to older people? Like presentation and others... |

The very fact that this question is even considered speaks volumes about Indonesian culture, and how messed up it is. A healthy child should not be afraid to ask questions and express themselves freely with adults. Being discipline into a "speak only when spoken to" attitude is immensely damaging to a curious young mind. The ability to communicate in an equal and honest way is best learned and practiced between children and adults. Growing up without good (adult) role models to talk to stunts the development of verbal skills, as well as other areas of the brain. |

I agree with Gendou . We're free to talk to anyone around us , so that we can know each other more or know more from someone elderly . But we must speak in a kind way and to the right person . If you don't speak to someone older (Who're of course more expierence) , how do you learn more ? |

hahahahahahaha, gendou knows indonesian problem we even have critic in tv advertisement by A mild one employee going to present a presentation, his boss said to him that he wear a wig then a mustache, then wear glasses then wear grey suit. in the end he end up looking like old people. we are suppose to speak freely, yet sometime we're ignore. once my teacher said, that old people, that have many experience have narrow mind, because of many experience they had, they didn't bother to trying something that they suppose to know the answer but young people with lots of curiosity and little experience, always trying to find another way, trying to solve matter with different way in the end, we might find another way of doing things that because of the curiosity, that old people already loose because of lots of experience |

hmf, indonesian culture does seem to be very stifling in concerns with nascent intellectualism within the youth, or at least i assume such restrictions would have that effect. Everyone should be freee to speak to whomever they want however they want to |

it's not the restriction or anything, it's just that they ignore it, they thing it's just a child, what do they know, they haven't live that long yet, and doesn't have many experience yet. i said this because this things happen, but not all of them did this , some may find it that child should learn to talk, even the government has change teaching method of schools so that child learn to talk freely, expressing their mind, but some may find it difficult, cause for years they been told to shut up and listen. and may be i just being skeptic, it just seems even though the government did this, they still shut their ear |

the government can only do so much if it is still taught by society itself (id est in families, by neighbours, friends, etcetera), for societal values often tend to trump government touted ones but the desire for change and what progress you have made is definitely a great thing ^_^ |

Well, it's not necessarily an Indonesian culture... I for one, am not raised that way. There are many cases where children are being unappreciated all over the world, usually that happens if the parrent is either a very conservative person, or lowlife bastards that doesn't even care about how to raise their kids. In Indonesia, we're just having a lot of those kinds. and sadly, the latter being the most ones >.< But hey, this thread is not particularly talking about indosesians, so i shall give my opinion on the question. Children definitely must be allowed to speak, by the reasons that Gendou had clearly stated up there, but of course, with some limitations. We can't have kids freely expressing themselves by cursing or being rude at their parrents or any adults can we? As free as we can get, we still follow the ethics of socializing. |

It sometimes ticks me off when what younger people say aren't taken seriously (unless what they're saying are really nonsensical garbage). Why not let them have their say and listen to them? But, of course, like mentioned by Sai, ethics are not to be ignored... |

I disagree younger cannot speak with the older people especially during presentation. To perform well in a presentation, you need to co-operate, work together. That's what we call team work. Besides, we should talk to older people more because they have more experience. We can gain different idea, opinions from a different point pf view. Of course before saying anything, think wisely. Don't be shy, speak out loudly and clearly. Let them hear what you want to say. |

I think this rule that younger mustn't speak with older people is a bit idiotic. It's only my opinion, but when I was small I was a lot with my grandpa. I argued a lot and we made a lot of things together. But this doesn't mean I was always wrong, sometimes I came up with better ideas for one thing or another. And from that I think it's the most beautiful thing for children to interact with older people. Even if they don't know everything, it's crucial for them to study, but in return older people can learn something new from younger response, younger point of view. P.S. Also those days with my grandpa was a great part of the best memories of my childhood. And I don't think they were bad for my grandpa either. |
