Nightwish fans....Tarja or Anette?

I finally heard the new single 'Amaranth' featuring the new vocalist Anette. So it got me thinking...who do you guys prefer. Tarja or Anette. For those who do not know...Nightwish is a Finnish 'symphonic' metal band. They are kinda like Evanecence...but better! Anyways here are samples of the 2 voices in video form. The one on the left is Tarja & the song Nemo....the one on the right is Anette & the song Amaranth.
For me i like Tarja cause her voice is much more...epic. It'll take awhile to get used to Anette.  |

nightwish has a new vocalist? man i just started to listen to thier songs and man my fave is i wish i had an angel hahaha ok gonna check this new vocalist edit: man i prefer the orginal one! hahaha the one that sounded like evanesence hahaha |

Hey Z-san how's it going! Yeah they picked out Anette after a few months of auditoning....reading about her in Wiki she is from Sweden & was in another band before joining Nightwish. Their new album 'Dark passion Play' is due out next month but there is a sample of the album on torrents. It has all the tracks but there is some commentary over them. I chose Tarja (old one) cause her voice sounds more powerful & epic....maybe due to her more opera style. Anette is alright but it takes some time to get use to her more higher voice...personally they sound more like Evanecence now then before. My fave song is of course 'Ghost Love Score'....love the words & the powerful approach to it...a real rock anthem! |

yo izumo well i really have to thank you since that song in our profile before(ghost love score) got me hooked on nightwish ^^ hahahaha anyway yeah i prefer the opera style and power of Tarja... Anette yeah she sounds ok but i felt as if something is missing in the song ^^ anyway can ya recommend nightwish songs that are heavy on guitars and drums (like dead to the world) i got the best of night wish album the other day and boy do they ROCK! |

Heh...you are welcome! Nightwish is awesome....i didn't get hooked on them until i saw an AMV with Everdream featured as the song. The AMV was about Fate/Stay Night. The song fit the series so perfectly. I had to do some research to see how many albums they released....i have most of them now except their first 2 & the new one out next month. hmmmm...songs with heavy guitars & drums. Planet Hell is a good choice. Especially the beginning when Jukka is ponding on the drums. That is some intense drumming there! Others that are pretty good is as you mentioned 'Wish i had an Angel' & 'Dead to the World'. I think 'Beauty of the Beast' is also good. It's like Ghost cause it starts out slow & slowly builds up. Some suggestions: Album: Over the Hills & Far Away - 10th Man Down Album: Once - Dead Gardens - Dark Chest of Wonders - Romanticide Album: Century Child - End of all Hope - Slaying the Dreamer Personally like i said 'Ghost Love Score' is my all-time fave followed by Nemo & Everdream. All their songs are awesome! I'm just glad i found out about them. |

Hooray! You guys are great <3 Listen to nightwish! Though Annette is not even nearly as good as Tarja (mostly because she is from Sweden, lol xD my bro's explanation to her being worse than Tarja is that she "looks stupid" -.-) No, really, her voice is not so unique. But a lot warmer! Tarja had a cold and cool, trained voice, which unfortunately is almost impossible to replace xD Anette has a warm voice. More humane. *is listening to the new album* There are few good singles, like Amaranth and Bye Bye Beatiful (which Tuomas has written Tarja in mind ;3) They used to be one of my fave bands S: But I guess I can go with Anette also, because it's still Nightwish!   |

I prefer Tarja because her voice is more authentic and it fits more to Nightwish. Anette is also very good. She has also a good voice. The song Amaranth is pretty cool. But it would be better with Tarja. But my fave song of Nightwish is Nemo ^o^.  |

Of course Tarja fits to Nightwish better, because she's what you're used to! I think Anette does a good job replacing her, not an easy task. And I'd say she's not only replacing Tarja but bringing lot's of new stuff for the whole band. I think Anette's voice is really clear and easy to listen to. Not that I was a fan of Nightwish or anything :D It's ok music for me, not loving or hating it. Maybe that's why I can act cool on this vocalist change thingie =] |

But after listening (too much) to the new album, I noticed that there may be some sort of "tarja influence" in Tuomas' lyrics and composings as well. They are written for a voice different from Anette's and I can only see Tarja missing from there. Amaranth is the only song that really gives some credit to Anette, and that's why it is the best from the whole album. I guess it'll take time before the whole band gets used to the new situation :3 |

The way i see it is that with Anette joining the band Nightwish has become more how you say...popish. The only song that feels like a Nightwish song in their new album is 'The Poet & the Pendullum'. That's just me though.... Well Nekomimi-san the song 'Bye bye Beautiful' was written about Tarja after her departure. The stories i've heard is that Tuomas really liked Tarja...you know REALLY like her. Unfortunately she was already married & because of her husband she was let go. Don't know if they are true but i hear Tarja's husband was trying to make her bigger than the band & wanted them to go in a different direction. I guess the new album & the songs Tuomass has written is to let bygons be bygons. I agree the Amaranth is the song that sounds Anette..if that makes any sense. I'm really curious to hear how she sounds doing some of the older Nightwish songs. Songs like 'Ghost Love Score' (my personal fave!) & 'Nemo' may be beyond her vocal limits. Even though i still prefer Tarja...Anette has just started so i'll be more patient. Tarja & Anette don't make the band...without Tuomas there is no band. |

Traja is Tarja, Anette is Anette, and Nightwish is Nightwish, I think this new disk is really cool, and it shows that Nightwish wasn't Tarja and it's good because must of the bands if the change singer, they screw up and i'm happy that didn't happened with nightwish ã©ã†ã—ã¦ç½ªãŒã‚ã‚‹ã®ã ã‚ㆠ   |
