Right now, the dreamhost DNS servers are broken.
So, nobody is able to connect and I am the only one on.
The reason I am able to connect while nobody else can is that I know the server IP address by heart, and added it to my /etc/hosts file, eliminating the need for a DNS to lookup the IP.
Apparently, nobody else is that clever...

@Gendou: Mind explaining how that technique works? (ie: how to do it?)

Edit: I also noticed this is the first post since we could get back on I think.

if you have a MacOSX, Unix, or Linux operating system, just add the line:

64.111.116.109 gendou.com

to the file /etc/hosts (root password required). if you have windows, the hosts file is in one of these locations:

Windows Vista = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Windows XP    = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Windows 2K    = C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Win 98/ME     = C:\WINDOWS

I knew something was wrong...I tried since 7.00am and nothing T-T But yeah...I'm not that smart...especially when I'm at work...My stupid boss sometimes blocks this site...and I have to unblock it T-T

yesterday was a scary day for the internets. gendou.com, skype login, urladex.com, and Maplestory forums were all down. how random is that?? or, is it NOT a coincidence? we had DNS problems here, urladex.com had a bad hard disk, so they say, and skype claims their downtime was do to bad software, which sounds fishy to me...

lol, I was sleeping while all this was happening.XD I missed the internet crash.

Anyway, I just added in the Gendou IP to my hosts just to be safe. Don't know when it could happen again.

It must have been kind of eerie being the only person on the site. Like standing in a ghost town.

it seems animesheep crashed for a moment due to the failed requests back to the mothersite (gendou.com).

I actually tried pinging and traceroute (tracert for windows) for gendou.com to get the IP as the work-around...but I couldn't get the IP. Kinda stupid of me to forget that if I can't get to gendou.com from the browser, then getting the IP by pinging won't really have that high change of working. I sometimes ping to gendou.com to get to the IP when my connection is laggy or when the connection to gendou is slow. But I didn't bother to edit it into my hosts file or put it in a notepad somewhere (yea,it only takes less than a few seconds to do it...but I'm a lazy person) or memorize the IP...there's too many IPs for me to memorize already >.<

edit:oh yeah...just tried using the IP add to connect to gendou,com...but i was connected to...a pr0n site instead O_O
