As the topic says, "Which Anime has had the biggest impact on your life?" So, please. Post the name of the Anime that has made the biggest impact on your life with a brief description of how it has and what that Anime is about. For me, It would have to be watching Neon Genesis Evangelion. The reason why is because the series got very "mentally problamatic" throughout the entire series and, at the time, I was only around that easily-impressionable age of 13 or so when I first watched it. The seriousness and dramatized results of a person's decision really struck a cord in me that caused parts of my mind to 'evolve' to a more mature mind set. I'm very thankful to this Anime and it's producer. Though, it's given me a darker view to things in life, it's still helped me to mature faster then I would have, at the age of when I had seen it. [WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN THE SERIES] For those of you that don't know what Evangelion is: [Evangelion's plot superficially revolves around the struggles by the paramilitary organization NERV to prevent the city of Tokyo-3 and the Geofront underneath it from being destroyed by monstrous beings called Angels. To this end, NERV enlists three teenagers, Shinji Ikari (the son of NERV's commander Gendo Ikari), Rei Ayanami, and Asuka Langley Soryu, to pilot enormous mecha called Evangelions into battle against the Angels. As the series progresses, it is revealed that NERV, the Evas, and the Angels are pieces in a plot by the organization SEELE to bring about a forced evolution of humanity with potentially cataclysmic repercussions. The struggles of the central characters to overcome their personal issues and personality conflicts factor heavily into the events of the series, and become integral to its conclusion. Towards the end, psychological issues predominate and the apocalyptic events in the real world are only alluded to "over a montage of bleak visuals, that include black and white photos of desolate urban motifs such as a riderless bicycle or vacant park benches interspersed with graphic stills of the devastated NERV headquarters in which Shinji's colleagues are seen as bloodstained bodies."] -quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neon_Genesis_Evangelion |

hmmmmm interesting.....I don't know if I could come up with just one..... It'd have to say that, Escaflowne, Welcome to the NHK, GITS: (pretty much any of them, and Paranoia Agent, all come to mind. I suppose the reason is that these animes either ended with me taking a closer look inside myslef or they were very thought provoking.

Um...well, that's either Fullmetal Alchemist (my current favorite manga, although I'm somewhat opposed to the anime), or Boogiepop Phantom. Boogiepop was somewhat of an obsession of mine throughout middle school--my angst years. It's a dark series, but no matter what, evil never wins out--at least, not by the end of the series, even if an individual episode is tragic. Also, the movie (live action) which was based off the book (by Kadono Kouhei, written in Japanese) was my favorite for a long time. Kadono-sensei himself seems to have gone through somewhat of an angsty phase himself, lasting much longer than mine; obviously, if he was able to write the whole Boogiepop series. (3 of the novels are currently available in English). Fullmetal Alchemist is different. It starts out seeming like a typical Shounen/Action manga, but as the plot progresses, and more layers are added, it becomes apparent that the plot is working on a much higher level than its sibling series (FMA has often been compared to Naruto, while Ed himself seems to be a typical hot-headed protagonist). I really respect Arakawa-sensei (the author) for all the reasearch she put into it, for being able to create a country that's based off a foreign society (Europe), and also for painting most of her colored pieces (as opposed to using computer art). FMA sparked my interest in science (researching the history of real alchemy led to that), and the various workings of the military (which I read about when researching the origin of the uniforms, and yes, I'm like this about everything I read, manga and books alike.) The series also introduced me to my two favorite seiyuu, Saigai Mitsuki and Paku Romi, as well as one of my two favorite songs, Kesenai Tsumi by Kitade Nana. A runner up for impact on my life would be Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG. While Motoko's outfits are a little Eyeshield 21 is also an excellent series. |

Hmm, the first and probably the reason for me liking anime was and still is Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind [hm, I feel old], I saw it when i was a just a kid in the 1980's... Other than making me like anime, it probably affected how I see life and nature, thus affectign my choice of Faith and probably even lifestyle. Along side that was Astroboy (early japanese version), and Voltron (lions version)... hm, I really am old... haha
