Emm, here's the question. ( i don't know it's ok if i post up here, cause it's a emulator, so i presume that it's pc technical problem.) I had a PS2 before, but sadly my mom had sell it. So i wanted to play the PS2 game in the DVD i brought for ps2 in pc. I heard that it's possible by using the PS2 emulator : PCXS2. So i download it via torrent file in torrentspy but i nither know how to configure it nor how to use it. So the major problem now is. Ermm how did i use it? p.s. i got the bios download same file with the torrent. |

I woulden't advise asking about those so openly and public, they are quite illegal

That's true if you put it that way o.o; but yea PS2 emulators are either crap or nonexisant, the highest one I saw was a N64 which was good, you might get lucky with a PSX emulator and thats a slim chance

Currently, there is no ps2 emulator that can support all commercial games. Even if you do figure out how to configure it, you're chance of running a rom is really slim, as Neo said. |

There are no PS2, or Xbox, or Gamecube emulators worth your time if you're actually trying to play commercial games. The farthest that emulation has been carried is to the Dreamcast and some games fairly well at that. Just about all systems older than the Dreamcast can be emulated well, including the PSX and N64. Any emulator for a newer console just doesn't run much more than demonstration/home-brew games, and in my opinion that's just about the end of where console emulation will ever get. |

I they're trying to ask, "is that not illegal?" @ Otakujerryman: SÃ, es ilegal. My husband had a bunch of emulators at one point. They were all for much older systems though. Over time they caused more problems then they were worth. You probably aren't ever going to find one that works for PS2 commercial games and if you do, I'm sure the lag will be terrible on all of them. I would take care seeing as it's illegal. ^_~ Good luck to you. |

For the short answer, I'd go with Psoplayer's answer. Even if we ignore the legality (older console roms are illegal too guys, so stop acting high and mighty when you all have super nintendo ROMs like I know you do), there's still the issue of power. Even with my computer's specs I tried to run a PS2 emulator on my computer with all the settings on lowest (so I could play a region 2 game), and even though I got it to work it didn't get past 25fps. So basically, it isn't worth it. (since then I've been shopping for a used region 2 ps2. Any places I could find one? lol)

Re: PS2 Emulator PLEASE!

| Just so everyone know from what I've heard even before you even bother using the PCSX2 PS2 emulator your gonna need a ultra high-end system so if you have some crappy rig with nothing in the way of graphics then take my advice and forget about it. |

PS2 Emulators are crappy. That's all. Because it not much as you think that it is hard to configured, but in default it EATS YOUR RAM SO HARD that's why it's apperance when you play it is too slow or too LAGGGG. I also experience using Playstation 1 Emulators since 1998, the emulator name is "BLEEM!". But due to the computer that I am using in that time (PII 233Mhz with 128MB RAM) I was force to put my RAM into 512MB and upgrade my DirectX and Video Card so that it will go faster and I will able to play it. But the result, it added 20% speed in the game and it now quite speed-up, but it's slow (it acts like a slow-motion effects on TVs or Movies). Dump your PS2 Emulator. That's my advice. It is better to use a PSP, SNESX, NeoGeo, or Gameboy Emulator with supported ROMS for your computer rather than PS2 3D Emulators using your PS2 Game CD. |

All emulators are illegal. U could get into serious trouble if caught.. It is against the law under the Copyrights Act. Penalty: min $6000 fine or 2 yrs jail or BOTH.. O.o my advice: buy the console itself.. its not worth it to get jailed jus like that.. |

Re: PS2 Emulator PLEASE!
|
| I'd like to know where you got this all emulators are illegal since emulators are in a grey area since mainly in the 8 and 16 bit eras there was quite a few public domain ROMs (the GBA has some as well) that can either be played using an emulator or on the originating console (that was if you had the right equipment to do so) plus most current emulators can run games directly from the original source (ie a CD) so if you have a original copy (well at least as long as you own the game) you can't get done by the law for playing it on a emulator. |

For Otoha: Were did you get a Law like that and what Copyright Act Code is it? I research it all over the internet about that. Oh My God! To clarify all, the emulators and ROM illegal use is debatable by now. "Emulator use is not legal, but owning a ROM is!" that what they say. Emulators are useless without it's ROMs. So it is logically saying, "using an emulator without a ROM is LEGAL" ROMs are the ones that to be have a copyright protection policy, not the Emulator (that's my opinion). But, I ask you some questions (For Otoha only) 1. If the law that you are saying exist, it is a Law for all Countries (International Law), or it is only a Law in your country? 2. Can you explain why there are many domains and sites that is publishing ROMs and Emulator Softwares to be download freely in their sites (over 1000+ sites are there)? I'm asking it because in our country, there is no such thing prohibits to use an EMULATOR or Emulator's ROMs. Even though I'm free to use Emulators and ROMs in our country without arresting me to jail with a fine of $6000. WOW! (Kung meron man pulis na huhuli sa akin sa ganung kasalanan, Mangongotong na Pulis yun.) Hehehehehe! |

For the user account named "edmundrh" - formerly known as Otoha (changes his name eventually to Syaoran): Hey! We are trading some emulators here. this thread looks a bit dated but: 0.9.4 pcsx2 came out.. supposedly alot more games should work now... i just wish i could find a better CD/DVD plugin that works with my external DVD drive... i hate iso files... it takes up to much room and it wastes my time from putting it on my computer... |
