It looks alright, but I'd like to see a little more than just 1 second snapshots of the mobile suits. Still, at least it's a new show, not like GSD.

It seems like the producers have decided to move on instead of carrying on with the cosmic era timeline. Hopefully, this series will be good.

Here's some more info:

Setsuna F (Fanron) Seiei:
A Gundam Meister for Celestial Being. He grew up in the war torn middle east and was discovered by Celestial Being at the age of 14 to have the special potential as a pilot. He doesn't speak much and comes off as a cool young man. He is now 16 years old.

Celestial Being:
The mysterious organization that strives to end all wars and change the world with only 4 Mobile Suits. Aside from the aim to put an end to all warfare, they have no ties to any government, is strictly non-profit and subscribes to no particular ideology.

MS-GUNDAM:
Super weapons created independantly by Celestial Being, they are a second-generation technology compared to anything the two superpowers in the world have to offer. They are machines made to take out entire armies individually.

Solar Generator:
A top secret technology being researched, this is the common name for the Energy source GN Drive. When mass is destroyed without the discharge of gun particles, a great amount of positron and photon are generated. Smaller units have also been designed, and the special advantage is the non-generation of excess heat. The GUNDAM units are powered with this technology.

GN Particles:
A sort of mutation neutrion discovered by chance, it is the origin of the research behind the GN Drive. When the GN Drive is in operation, these particles are automatically generated. When they're in the air they have the special property of shutting down all radar systems completely.

The director Mizushima also makes a few comments about the direction the show is taking. Apparently the decision to set the show in 2307 AD is to force a sense of realism into the series and a stronger connection to our real world. Since it follows the same timeline as ours, the worldview and settings will be more similar to the real world than that of a standard Gundam series, which is a new direction they're aiming for. There also appears to be two major superpower factions in the world: The Union (America leading Japan, Canada and Australia) and People's Reform Federation (that's the closest I can translate 人革連, and it's comprised of China, Russia and India). More information as it comes in...

Edit: Also, from the summary of the story, it doesn't appear that there are any colonies or equavilants in the story. Basically after mankind discovered the new solar based power source, the two superpowers continued to fight on and on, until the organization Celestial Being decided to attempt to stop it all with Gundams....

The write-up says Gundam 00 will differ from Gundam SEED in that, according to Bandai President Kazunori Ueno, the 4 main characters will appeal not only to female fans gained with the previous Gundam, but to male fans who prefer harsh outlooks of the world. (I like the sound of that!) Gunpla Expo Tokyo will be held August 11 through 16. In September, 28 places countrywide will have an advance screening of episode 1 of Gundam 00. Gundam 00 merchandise will show up in Gundam War cards (Double O Double Get Campaign starting in August), HGCORE figures (September), HGIF character figures and SD Gundam Full Color Custom 13 (October), and G Flex from the Candy Division (October). Gundam 00 will also invade major product lines as well, including MSiA (Gundam Exia, price & date not shown), the apparently new 00 Region line (Exia, price & date also not shown), and HCM-Pro with the Gundam Exia (September, 2,300 yen) and Gundam Dynames (October, 2,300 yen).

Aha... I guess I didn't check enough, my apologies...

Anyways... so is anyone concerned if this series will fly? GS and GSD did very poorly, and Stargazer managed average from what I gathered.

"GS and GSD did very poorly, and Stargazer"

GS- Completely disagree.
GSD- Agree.
Stargazer- No real opinion.

So far it isn't looking too different from GS. The Mobile Suits also look pretty familiar (NOTE: This is where some other Gundam fans usually cut in with their "Everything is just ripping off older Gundam series" garbage.).

Got to agree with Jonathon... GS is pretty much ok for me but GSD was total rubbish.... Stargazer no comment yet haven't watch it...

GS for me is a matter of opinion. For me, the only time gundams and pacifism ever mixed was in GW, and that's it... gundams and tournaments don't mix either...

Anyways, so does anyone have any more info beyond what ANN and MAHQ have?

As for the "Everything is just ripping off older Gundam series" comment that other fans might say, my view is this. This gundam series is like the others in that it follows the same protocol if you will when it comes to mecha like standard, close-combat, heavy-armor, so on, but this is normal.

As for the story side of it, I've seen/heard of the basic plot of every gundam series. This series is perhaps the most unique series I've seen so far. The closest it comes would be GW, but the setting has some important differences.

I believe if they give this series enough promo, GSD (since everyone agress on that one) will become a distant memory. And if this is any indication *looking over youtube while typing* I'd say this will turn out quite excellent...

Its shocking... even the characters look somewhat unique...

Since GSD is the latest thing fresh in my memory, aslong as the main character doesnt change in the middle of the story, Im happy with it

("If Yoshiyuki Tomino was dead, he'd be rolling over in his grave." -wildarmsheero)

Okay, Having been a fan of Gundam since the original Universal Century Gundam 0079, I'll say this:

This pilots names are LAUGHABLE. Allelujah Baptism?? Lockon Stratos?? They sound like they stabbed a knife through a dictionary (or bible) to come up with these names!! Plus, what the heck is up with bishounens lately? I swear the first time I saw that blue haired pilot I would've sworn he was a girl....I mean come on, at least you could tell Rey was a guy!, and what's wrong with having a girl pilot anyway? There hasn't been a girl pilot that actually affected the overall big picture plot development through her piloting since the 08th MS Team (Aina) or Gundam Wing (Noin) both of which came out in 1995.

But that aside I have to say, as much as I don't like the look of 3 of the 4 pilots shown thus far the plot setup looks somewhat promising. I don't like the fact that they don't mention any sort of colonies or anything, but I think it could still be plenty good even without that plot aspect (seeing as GSD has basically killed the whole set of plot ideas involving space colonies). It has a LOT of potential to make an original story, and I honestly hope they take advantage of it.

SIDE NOTE: What is with all of the pilots having to have some sort of snooty attitude look to them? If this is supposed to be our timeline, wouldn't they enforce the same military discipline or at the VERY least have less regulation breaking haircuts? Come on, we got more than a fair share of annoying snobs from GSD from Shinn, Rey, and all of the 'extendeds'!

The mechs themselves look kinda average as far as mechs go....sure there's more angles on them, but they basically look like revamped versions of the basic Gundam formulas with some kid trying to see how many different colors of the rainbow he can cram onto one suit without making it look ugly. Heck, they're starting to have as many edges on them as the mechs from Armored Core....

Overall, I'll give it credit - This series has potential. If it weren't for the idiotic names (Solestal Being??) and the bishounen, I probably wouldn't have had any issues with it from the start. If they take the plot an original way then I'll probably end up liking it. As for now though, I'm gonna keep my expectations mediocre.

@Everyone who said GS and GSD were bad:
I agree with Jonathon big time here, GS was pretty good. GSD was.......extremely unoriginal and a total rip of Zeta amongst several other series, not to mention had very annoying characters. The mecha designs though, I will admit were pretty cool and very refreshing (except for ANY of the ones the 'extendeds' piloted...those looked awful).

Beware the quiet people, You don't know their intentions
(small signatures are sooo much cooler since they don't annoy people trying to read through posts!)

Seed was pretty decent with a few memorable moments and a few not so memorable moments while Destiny just sucked...hard. Though this OO Gundam seems pretty shitty to me, I've seen the preview and it's nothing to brag about. The characters are all bishounens (kill me now) and ALL the suits look ridiculous. I'm a gundam fan as much as the next, but the whole gundam universe is really going downhill fast. Thank gods for GW and GS at least those two are worth remembering and re-watching.

i hope the storyline will be good. i think i'll like the GN-002 Gundam Dynames, a sniper gundam...sounds cool
the main characters are independent troops/pilot right? sounds like GUNDAM Wing.
The series will be set in 2307 AD(Anno Domini?) of the Gregorian calendar.
so the story will be 300 years from now, huh?
@AU: i think it is Gundam 00 not OO

in the name of truth and honor, i shall have my vengeance upon you

I'm looking for to it! This story looks very promising to me. Those four gundams look kinda cool(Gundam Exia is my favourite!!).
Though GSD is kinda rip-off Zeta, my friends and I loved the show for its actions(GS is better though :P).
