I've created this thread before, but it disappeared without a trace somehow (can't find it anywhere, by search or by looking for it page by page) Anyways, anyone is watching this anime? Yesy had subbed the first episode but 7 episodes had already been aired. Here's a description by AnimeNfo I really like this anime storyline, something along the lines of Violinist of Hamelin, since they uses music to power up the fairies for battles. |

Yeah Kay...i've been watching the RAW versions so far as well. Do you know this series is based on of course a 'visual novel'...not a H-game but something in the lines of CLANNAD...an all ages game. The original creators "Ocelot" has made so far i think 4-5 games based on Polyphonica. Himeyasoft is taking preorders for their Part 3 & 4 box set. Part 1 & 2 are already out while a new series called "Polyphonica Memories White" is recieving the recommendations for preorder..so i think it's pretty good. Supposedly there are 3 versions of Polyphonica...the CRIMSON series (which the anime is based on)....the BLACK series...& the newesr one the WHITE series. Anyways if you wanna know more about the games the anime series is based on i suggest visiting the maker site: Ocelot homepage...all ages. The animation is pretty well done...i haven't personally played any of the games but i may consider trying the new series cause they say it is good. Luckily you say they are finally subbing it eh?.....my understanding of the RAW versions isn't that great. But so far i'm really liking Corty's character....especially glimpses of her original form....Yowza!!!! Phoron is so far a decent main character.... *EDIT*...also i see in Himeyashop there are light novels of the series as well...so kinda like Kara no Kyoukai & Fate/Zero....interesting....  |

i heard it was based on a visual novel, but i didn't really bother looking into it >.<. i just checked out the site, and was pretty overwhelmed...The Black, Memories White, Crimson...i'd probably download the trial to try them out but i can't read kanji that well T_T, and my japanese vocab is pretty weak. (i had some trouble fully understanding some of the things they said during the anime, for some funny reason though, i still know roughly what they're saying) and when i saw the novels at himeyashop...i was kinda left hanging...and now my brain is telling me: 'Master Japanese RIGHT THIS INSTANT!!'. |

Yeah i may get the light novels after i finish with Fate/Zero....whenever that is XD. I should freshen up on my japananese as well....i kinda get the feeling that my buddy is getting really sick & tired of the tranlating part....maybe i should eventually pay him ^___^. I tried the trial version before....it is basically the same idea like any other visual novel.....there are a few parts that were difficult to get if you don't know japanese...i used trial & error....The full games aren't that badly priced...about 35-40$....cheaper than the close to 100$ i spend for the ones i really want. I may preorder the White series just to see how it is like. I really wanna read the novel though...after Fate & Kara..light novels i have really starting to absolutely love. I'm like you when watching the anime....i sort of get what they are saying but on occasion i get lost....well at least the animation is nice to look at. I should re-watch the episodes so i can discuss it in more detail....I'll check back here now & then.... Cheers! |

Seeing the books itself make me want to buy it >.<, I might even grab the game's soundtrack at the same time XD (I don't know why, but I like listening to music from visual novels and h-games...). Maybe I should get myself a Japanese-English dictionary as well so that I could translate the characters I can't read (probably 95% of the book XD) I just watched episode 8. Of all episodes, I think episode 8 was a little weird looking...especially their faces... I just realized something as well...the ending reminds me of well...visual novels O_o. The designs and such made me think of them... |

I watched the 8th episode yesterday & yeah i agree the animation is a little different from previous episodes. Their faces look a tad "chubby"...more cartoony than the other episodes. I wonder if the budget is running out since they have 4 more episodes to go ^___^. Well Kay the ending animation is actually the original designs from the game...that is how they look like in them. Kinda cool the animators used that for the credits....i hear the series is pretty popular in japan....i wonder if that is why the White series is getting recommendations. |

Yea, using designs from the game for the anime is really a rare treat these days. I kinda knew it was somewhat popular when I downloaded the raws. The number of Japanese IPs on the tracker was almost overwhelming. For some reason, it's not that popular outside of Japan. If they're going to animate Memories White and probably The Black as well, it'll be sweet^^. By the way, is the anime the complete form of the Crimson Series or it's only partway there? Since there's only 12 episodes... |

Good question....i may have to do some research. As far as i know there are 4 parts (episodes) for the Crimson series. Episodes 3 & 4 was just released on tuesday or was it yesterday....i forget. Anyways i would guess that the anime deals with episodes 1 & 2 of the game....so there may be a possibility that a 2nd season may be made with 3 & 4...thats what i think cause 12 episodes is a tad short. I assume not many people outside of Japan know about Polyphonica cause you know the japanese...they love their visual novels. I think it may be a cult fave in other countries. Most of the time anime over here gets popular after it is licensed & distributed to the mainstream audience...just a hunch though. The Black series is the next in line after the Crimson series....the White Memories is the newest with new characters....the cover of the game looks really nice. The main heroine (Snow) is cute...any girl that wears glasses is always cute. Also the game looks more shoujoest than the other games....Black judging by the name may be the darker of the 3....if that is the case THAT would be awesome if it is animated... I'll see what more info i can dig up.....by the way do you know when the next episode is released?...is it sometime next week? |

Episode 9 will be out on Tuesday, May 29 2007. I think we should change the statement:Any girl wearing a glasses and wields a sword is cute XD. Yea, Snow Drop is cute, and her hairstyle kinda reminds me of Usagi from Sailormoon... Episode 3 & 4 was released yesterday, according to the site. So I'm just looking forward to a possible second season. It'll be nice if they animate Black and Memories White as well. |

Awesome...one more day till the next episode comes out!!! Anyways did some homework....All the Polyphica games are considered "Kinetic Visual Novels"....meaning that the game plays just like a novel...the player actually doesn't do any interaction in the game other than "turn the page"....there are no choices or questions to answer....which is different from the normal visual novels. So some knowledge of the japanese language is a must to understand the story. Memories White is being distributed by another company other than Ocelot....i think they are called Anemedo or something like that. I downloaded some of the trailers of the Polyphonica games & is uploading them to my photobucket account as i type. I have Polyphonica Black up at the moment & as soon as the others are complete i'll just edit this post. I love the music for Crimson, Black, & White....^__^ I swear the White series like i said feels & looks more Shoujo than the other 2...the character designs look like something from a shoujo manga. I now have a copy of Polyphonica 3&4!!!! So far i'm a little bit into the novel....first i must say the CG look very beautiful...nice sharp & vibrant.
