Original DVDs or the pirated one?

These days im very confused.what will i buy?the original or the pirated one?here in the Philippines i only knew to stores where to buy anime DVDs but they're expensive.I know that piracy is not good and its against the law.Some say that i should download online but for me its more nice to have your own collection,by the way i also have one question,is buying anime DVDs online safe?thank you for those who will reply please help me decide.arigatou!!^^  |

I'm confused too. Although I PREFER original dvds, since it has better quality tebayo~ I once bought a pirated dvd of Naruto episodes, but once I played it the quality is SO horrible, till I found out these episodes were actually free fansubs from Dattebayo tebayo~! [lol what] PLUS I found out the dvd I bought was actually downloaded from youtube [coz of the quality]--which is SO LOW. I just wasted my 100 peso bill.  |

Pirated=Bootlegged, right? (O.o) If so, I'd choose 'original'... no... Original all the way.

Original. pirated dvds are a no no to me, but it's pretty hard to find originals in my country. most of the anime dvds here are imported from Hong Kong... |

i choose original too, but it hard to find and expensive, and i cant stop watch anime so .... pirate one, but i not buy it, i rent it, it cheaper and has better quality, then i copy-compres to my hd. about buying online, i never do that too, yeah i also fell insecure buy online |

all of you are right.thanks for answering.its really confusing to decide on my own.lol... right pirated ones have lower quality but here in my country i cant find a place where to rent anime DVDs!!!thats so horrible!!!! |

I found FX bootlegs to be superb and the best bang for your buck. You can get great translated subtitles and english dialogue and the pixel rate I say was only compressed by like 10%. I have berserk, wolfs rain, neon genesis, flcl, samurai champloo, initial d, tenjho tenge, cowboy beebop, major, whistle, and one piece FX complete sets. Its just a DVD or two smaller of a set.

| Original if I had them both in front of me. I don't get pirated DVDs because what I watch that is fansubed on my computer I delete right away and I don't want to destroy that many DVDs. |

To answer your question about ''is buying anime DVDs online safe?''. It depends. Some websites are badly dis-orgainsed/un-safe and some are growing/recommened. Like; Amazon and eBay. But, I never bought anything from from eBay. I don't really trust it. I've bought Fruits Basket- Vol. 3 [DVD] online from Amazon and the order came out the next day. Excellent service, good price [not like the orginal] and the package came with secure protection [so, no worries if the DVD was been touched]. Besides, I buy all my manga from there. Anywayz, I'm not here to advertise, just giving off a impression. PS: When I went to the Philippines, I only saw Gundam Seed Destiny in stock which was actually a good price.  ~

obviously the original!^^ altho i got ripped off when i bought some dvds during holiday..i can't tell if they were original or not..seemed like it tho, but i didn't hav dvd players to try them on that time :( and from ebay..dvd boxsets may look good on the appearance but somehow the quality seemed worse to me than the fansubbed versions..oh and the subtitles really ANNOY me when the english is 'broken' & translated way wrong..  |

I prefer the originals over anything pirated. The originals usually come with extra trinkets that fake ones don't....like character cards, cellphone straps, posters, collectors box sets...etc... Also buying originals help the industry...if you want more anime support them by buying the originals.  |

The originals definitely have better quality, and stuff like that but strangely, the pirated ones around my area usually have better subtitles.  |

Acctually....originals are better obviously... Its a very very rare case where pirated goods have a better subs...lol. My first time hearing it.
