Bisexuality

So, I'm just curious... People in my country are very religious/conservative, and as a result bisexuals/gays/lebians are more or less looked down upon. I should know, since I'm bi myself (not denying it, no matter what the world might think... ^_^) In my school (which is VERY conservative, since it's a catholic school), you can get expelled for having girlxgirl relationships. It's not just because of religion, one teacher told me that it's actually more for the school's reputation. What is up with that? So what if there are a few "stray sheep" aroud the campus? It can't be helped, it just can't. I personally think it's not right, since it's their fault for making the high school department exclusive for girls. *shakes head* What are your views on this? It's not as if it would affect us when we have jobs, right? So, my question is: To those with "different" sexual orientations, how do your peers treat you? Do you think it's right? And to straight people, how do you treat us bi's/gays/lesbians? Why?

Funny you mention stray sheep because male sheeps are known to have homosexual behavior, which scientists claimed they have a cure for. Anyways, back to the topic. I am straight. I don't think sexual orientation is the problem. It is the life style associated with the sexual orientation that people stereotype/despise upon. Now I am not here to condome or scold anyone. I believe we should be tolerent of people sexual orientation. But neither the heterosexual or the homosexual/bi people should force their agenda on each other. I know some people on both sides of the fence are very aggressive and plain hate each other. But that is not how issue are resolved. Unfortunately, conflicts are started by people joking about other people's sexual orientation. ![]() |

Oho, really? Male sheep? lol mind telling me where you got that piece of info? ^_^ So far, I've never known a homo/bi who is aggressive. When my gang and I meet up, it's just to discuss our rights (yeah, still in third year high school and we're talking about that already.. *sweatdrops*), we just want to be respected by the school and our families. Can you believe teachers threatened to flunk our salutatorian just because she had a relationship with a girl since we were in first year? Is that even right.

Wow... lesbians... Hmmm... I'd treat gays, bi's, and lesbians the same way as an ordinary person, because they're humans too right? And they also deserve equality among those who are "straight". Besides, it's not their fault that they chose to be that way, right? BTW, I'm straight...

I am straight but I have nothing against anyone who is gay bi or les. It honestly doesn't bother me. I definetly think it is the lifestyle people look at and that is what as Without You said, frown upon. (unless I read that wrong O.o) anyway, There are dishonouring heterosexual relationships, as we see (people who sell themselves, sex for drugs etc etc) just as there are in the homosexual relationships. I think people get their knickers in a knot because it is people of the same sex. I just think people should leave it alone, christ, is it truly that big of a deal? Y'know, your children are your children, just because they choose a different path from you doesn't mean you shouldn't love them. If my child were gay, bi or a lesbian I wouldn't hate them, but I hope they aren't since they have a difficult time ahead of them in society. Personally I really hate religion. The only one I really like is Buddhism, cuz the fat guy only teaches you the stuff he does so it can make you happy. Anyway, thats my speech :P g'night mates :D

That's great to know, people here are open to stuffs like these. ^_^ Well, some like me are born bi's... hehe. Others choose to be like that. I admit most of us are weird, but humans nonetheless. Therefore, yes, we deserve equality as well. ^_^

I think if you think it makes you happy, go for it!! Just don't hurt anyone in the process. Heck you can go love an alien and i won't mind just don't try to convert me. *studder* I had a doctor once that kept trying to convert me... over and over... she keep telling me that if I convert I'll go to heaven.. geez give me a break ***** Go Follow your Heart |

o.o Ryu is straight. She treats humans, regardless of their sexuality, by how *they* treat her in the first place. Bus since people generally like to pick an argument with her over what she stands on, there really isn't any day that she's nice. Especially to shrinks/counselors/'religious' freaks/authoritarians/the list goes on. No picky fights with me + love for anime = peace between us. xD Erm. Question. Doesn't a group of people who do about the same things gotta be really big to be considered to have a certain lifestyle? I have read a couple unbiased reference books that homo/bi ppl are more prone to STDs, bad relationships, mental stress/problems in general, etc. So I can't help to wonder if the statistics/studies are true. Though that don't mean I discriminate. o_o ^_^ You sound like a nice bi. Ryu don't see a problem with you. Hope you find happiness with your.. ehh.. endeavours. |

@Ryu: I really don't know about those books, but I did read that AIDS was first found to be in gays. So, maybe it's right. ^_^ @WiShy: No way, someone tried to convert you?? o.0 ... That's too sad, with the whole "you'll-go-to-heaven" thing. I hear that from my straight friends most of the time, when I talk about someone I like. Damn, it's annoying, I put up with it everyday because we've known each other since we were kids. I seriously hope you got rid of that doctor. ;P

I'm straight... and I go to a conservative school too. I have bi friends nonetheless. They had trouble keeping things from the teachers... Eventually, it spilled out. They weren't kicked out but a teacher talked to them. Well, I have nothing against homo/bisexuality. I don't give them "why-are-you-like-that" looks... That's being mean... I befriend people because of their character not because of their sexuality. There are straight people who does "evil" stuff bi/homo people don't. Too bad not everyone in the world thinks so. |

i dont have a problem with bisexuals themselves, i have a few friends that are gay and they are really cool. but i do not support bisexuality itself. i do think it is a state of mind that can be changed. but it is a choice and no one should be forced to do anything they dont want to do. if that is what you want go for it. |

Everyone, just go on google and type in homosexual sheep as keyword and you will find many articles (serious articles) on the subject. I first heard this on NPR (National Public Radio) couple months ago. I do have to say one thing about heterosexual and homosexual. Homosexual don't procreate. A population of homosexual (either male or female) will eventually die out. Whereas a population of heterosexual, would, of course, be OK because the spieces can procreate. So if one consider procreation as a "normal" activity, then being homosexual would not be considered "normal". Again, this comment is a pure logical deduction from what we think is normal, biologically. I am not trying to label anyone being abnormal here. I would like to know what you all think about this point of view. ![]() |

This reminds me of a news report, about 2 weeks ago. One of the items covered was some manifestation from gay people, in some city here in Belgium ( forgot which one though ), demanding apologies from some local cleric who apparently had openly condemned homosexuality in his parish. Now, the fun thing was that, after they had interviewed some of the people who had organized that manifestation, they also asked some ( read: 2 ) local catholic girls ( i guess they must've been in their late teens ) what their thoughts were on the subject, to which one of 'em replied this absolutely priceless answer: "We have nothing against homosexuals, we only have something against homosexuality." I couldn't help but burst out loud... Admittedly, she was blushing all over the place, and maybe she didn't know Flemish that well as to express herself fluently ( I think she was French speaking ), and just threw out the first words that came to her mind, but still... Personally, i don't really care what sexual orientation you have... as long as you don't come rubbing it into my face. Sometimes you see this gay people on the street, or in train stations, or whatever, and they seem to absolutely have to kiss each other all over the place, just too "shock" people, and then i'm like... you know... what the hell? That does nor shock, nor disgust me or whatever, that just makes me wonder if they really don't have any lives and dignity at all. I don't mind people kissing each other in public, hell, why would i?, but just don't freakin' do it just to show off, it comes off really pathetic. This been said, i honestly do believe that the discussion gets way more complicated once you throw in kids into the equation... But since you're in third grade, i guess that's not an immediate problem ;) .oO° Life's THE CURE, the rest are details! °Oo. |

I'm bi, I don't really care what people think. "homosexuality is not a choice, homophobia is a choice." kudos to my friend for saying that. Of course being a bi, I think that there's nothing wrong with it. First off, what have homosexuals done to the world? seriously, we have done nothing. It is said that homosexuality is natures way of stopping reproduction. To those of you that are homophobic: get over it! It's not like we're gonna come and rape people or whatever. *sigh* Ok, anger is gone. My friends are cool with me. They know that i can't help but be this way. I have a gf too. =D She makes me very happy. btw, i'm a girl too just to let you all know. ![]() |

Homosexuality isn't a choice, you are born with it. ^_^ I have never known anyone who "chose" to be a homosexual. That would be strange, you can't dictate your heart to choose a person you like now, can you? About homosexuals and their inability to procreate... yes, in that sense we are "abnormal". But in many other ways, we are human as well. We feel the way straight people do, get hurt twice as much because some people loook down upon us for being different, we breathe, laugh, and cry as much as straight people do. So maybe we are more human than you think. ^_^ Most of the bi's here in the Philippines that I know never force themselves on others, or do PDA because, strangely enough, religion still has a strong hold on us, even though it persecutes us. Well, Christianity was dominant in our country for more than 3 centuries, that doesn't come as a surprise. Even I feel weird kissing my gf in public when she goes home from school. *shrugs*

I am a chinese and I grew up in a chinese culture for 16 years before I moved to the US. I have to say that in the US is a less tolerant of homosexuality mostly because of the religiou influence. In the chinese culture, homosexuality has been well incorporated into peoples lives that it isn't an issue to debate about. As always, it is the 1% radical that makes the rest look bad. The 1% don't speak for the majority of the people, who ARE tolerent of homosexuality. When it comes this topic I tell people "I am just a lesbian trapped in a man's body." ![]() |
Re: Bisexuality

em well some guys are homos by blood, it comes from their genes inherited by his family/generation, so that couldn't be help, unless he actually wants to be straight. Some guys turn homos because of influence, and they actually accept that they want to be a homo [some are even undergoing sexual transplant!] Being a homo is fine [but not to my perspective since I have a slight phobia against them] but when you resort to same sex relationships and intercourse I believe it's rather disrupting religion [but that depends on the religion]. but from your topic title it says, "bisexuality" so it's either homo/straight--I'm ok with that though...wait, I dunno ;_; ![]() |
