What is your favorite compression system and software?

For Windows and Linux, tar.bz2 (tar bunzip) and IZArc.
For Windows Only, rar (WinRAR's) and WinRAR.

i use linux, but im not yet compress anything, because i just installed couple days ago.

for windows i use 7zip, it give smaller size than RAR and ZIP.

I use WinZIP and WinRAR. I like those two than other Compression System.

which compresses large files better?... WinZIP or WinRAR... coz one tym wen i compressed files... i noticed a slight reduced of file on WinZIP than WinRAR...

.tar.gz I guess. I don't really use compression often these days, because in most cases the amount of space you save isn't really worth the time spent compressing the file (5 mb off of a 179 mb file that I can't use anymore unless I uncompress it isn't worthwhile.)

so many forms of data are compressed already these days.

winrar is the winrar :D I also use Winzip X3 because it also has "win" in it :D

Hmm, I guess... I use WinRAR since Winzip expired on my computer and I can't reuse it either.

My opinion:
- On speed:
1. Zip - the fasted
2. WinRAR
3. 7-Zip - the slowest

- On compress:
Zip - the best for small files and txt
WinRAR - the best for image (especially for BMP) and documents (.doc, .xml, ...)
7-Zip - the best for applications

More often I use Zip, because it the more widespread.
