*blink blink* That is some interesting variation of romanji. I don't think I've seen that before. Where did you learn romanji? I think most people here would find these easier to say/read if most of the -sy were -sh instead. example: Syakusyo - Shakusho - City Hall |

I forget the romanization style name off the top of my head, but some schools teach a more written based one. Using characters like: hu, ti, zi, si, sya, etc. I understand the logic behind it, but I never really liked it. Should just relate things to sound, not writting. Then again I prefer to have things in full kana anyways. It's "gakkou" for school by the way. Edit: Quick search later: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romaji Gives a decent explanation here. It really is hard to read non-hepburn type romaji though. |

^,^ Here comes again...I used the hiragana form rather than the pronouncing form... remembering the hiragana form will be more easier especially for those person who really wants to learn Japanese. ^,^ ^,^ Im not saying that you must not use the pronouncing form... but it will be more accurate for transversing romaji in hiragana character... ^,^ ^,^ Just think of this way...remembering that underwear comes first rather than wearing pants then underwear... ^,^ ^,^ The kanji for "Shiyakusho" is wrong...this one is the kanji:  *Im starting with the basics, so there will be no kanji for the mean time...except for this one^,^*

the kanji in my post is my sig. It's my name in kanji and has nothing to do with the post. Can you read my name? And no, this version of romanji isn't the easiest way to people _here_ to learn Japanese. Look at the other posts. No one else is using this version of romanji. |

To be quite honest, whichever form of romaji you are most comfortable with is the one you personally should use. Hepburn system also can acurately depict which corresponding kana symbol you mean to use. The purpose of kana is to originally represent a sound. To english speakers, Si does not properly represent the sound made by ã—, sya does not properly represent the sound made by ã—ゃ, and so on. You say it will be more accurate transcripting things that particular way, but if you want to be accurate one would actually use kana. All forms of Romaji are an emulation, none are necessarily more correct or less correct than another. Hepburn however is easier and more natural for english speakers. |

it might be better for him to just plug in both types of romanji, since it is creating a confusion. he asked for my advice about this, and i told him that if he were to teach people how to actually read the script, this would be a better way since it follows how they are written in hiragana. isaac is right that pronunciations must be plugged in there, so let's just have them both. i don't want to edit his post without he permission, so i'll just tell him in person tomorrow. ^^ -michiyo-

Romaji is hard, when you have like, 3 or 4 variations of transliterating it. 「^,^ Just think of this way...remembering that underwear comes first rather than wearing pants then underwear... ^,^〠One can learn Japanese quite well without ro-maji. |
