Found out that a movie is being made out of this awesome "light novel".   For those who do not know it is created by the same people who made Tsukihime & Fate/stay night...Typemoon. It is like the base for what would be Tsukihime...although it may well be a prequel to it. Kara no Kyoukai stars Aoi Aozaki's (lady with suitcase in Tsukihime) sister Touko Aozaki & Shiki Ryougi the main character. This time Shiki is a girl possesing the same abilities as Shiki from Tsukihime...able to see death. The movie is being produced/created by ufotable the same company that made series like: Ninin Ga Shinobuden, Futakoi Alternative, Coyote Ragtime Show, and Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight! so the production should be quite well done. "COOL" Yes it really is! Kara no Kyoukai is one of the most interesting & compelling novels i've read (translated version)....the original is 2 volumes around 900 pages long! Anyways the theatrical release has yet to be announced as of yet...since they only announced the project in late December (Dec.28th). So far only a few seiyuu's have been cast. Some are pretty well known. Cast: Ryogi Shiki: Kawakami Tomoko (Misuzu in AIR) Kokuto Mikiya: Itou Kentarou (Renji Abarai in Bleach) Aozaki Tohko: Inoue Kikuko (Belldandy in Ah! My Goddess) Kokuto Azaka: Tamura Yukari (Ranpha Franboise in Galaxy Angel) Fujyou Kirie: Itou Miki (Asa-sempai in Shuffle! ^^) Araya Souren: Nakata George (Alucard in Hellsing!) Akimi Daisuke: Ueda Yuuji (Keitaro in Love Hina) I'll keep things updated as soon as they are available....however i assume alot of people don't really know the awesomeness of all this....i bet when the film is released they'll know how cool this show really is. |

@ Kay-san Hi....welcome to the thread....too bad it's a little empty...T_T. Anyways more info about the anime movie....supposedly the movie is seperated into the 7 chapters like the novel. How they are gonna do that is beyond me...the length of the film will be interesting. Anyways yes the novel does get confusing at times...remember this is like the spiritual predessor to Tsukihime. I do know that the "Moonlit World" does have a sypnosis posted about each chapter in their Kara no Kyoukai secion. It explains the basic happenings of the chapter. Not a full translation of the novel but will give some enlightment on the story. It took me 3-4 months to read/understand the novel & that is with the help of a friend. Even he got confused when he tried to explain what was going on. Currently i'm 1/3 way through volume 2 of Fate/Zero....i'm a little lost in some of the story translation so again i'm waiting for free time from my friend. He must be getting tired of my questions :) |

fate/zero...i've only read the prologue though...and i've finished chapter 2 of kara no kyoukai...it was kinda creepy when Shiki put blood on her lips... ps:once the anime is out, i bet this thread will be flooded too O_o |

i'm simply hoping that it'll go according to the book without changing the plot. i hope they'll do a good job on chapter 3, cause it's my favorite chapter by far |

Well Kay-san... Since they are dividing the film into each chapter i guess they'll try to be as accurate to the novel. Like i said it all depends on the time frame the movie is given....if it is about 1hr 30mins i think they can fit the major points in to some degree. [SPOILERS....sort of] Yeah...chapter 3 is quite good....Shiki learns her powers & does things with it....the interaction between her & her mom is sweet heartwarming. I think this relationship is as good as the one between Shiki & Mikiya. Which leads me to my fave chapter...of course its the final chapter..."...not nothing heart"...the whole story leading up to the battle with Lio really set the stage. As for Lio his whole character was creepy...even more so than Roa. From a normal high school student to enraged "man-eating" killer....yeesh. Anyways you'll like the last chapter & epilogue....it's a little sad but it really made the entire story all the more worthwhile. I agree with a statement from the "Moonlit world".... "For a novel to be just as interesting, it needs to be three times as interesting. This is the novel that is three times as interesting as average games." |

If it is about 1hr 30mins, yea it'll be a good thing. I'm currently reading chapter 4, the part where Shiki lost SHIKI(ya know, the male side of Shiki) (that's what she theorized at first, haven't read everything yet). Actually, I thought that chapter 3 was the battle between Shiki and Asagami Fujino... |

@ Kay-san Yes...chapter 3 is where she battles Fujinon (the descriptions of her powers are really well done for a book!)....Shiki doesn't really kill her...only the "virus" that infected her. In fact Shiki doesn't kill anybody in the entire story except for a couple....which you'll find out later on. The part with Lio is IMHO the best part of the story.....again i don't wanna spoil it for you....its really cool. I'll give you a clue about it...1996 & 1999....i'll leave it at that. The whole description of Shiki is complicated (probably the most confusing part of the story)....you get clues throughout the story about her personalities & how she recieved them.....when she got into the accident she believed the "male" personality was lost in the process....so she acted like a tomboy to how you say compensate for that lost. It's the part you are reading right now...right? There is also a little twist with her that you can see when you get to the epilogue....really cool! But trust me the part with Lio & to a lesser extent Araya Souren (these two + 2 other are all connected).....once you understand the part with Lio...you'll really despise him.... |

@Izumo, yea...Fujino actually had appendicitis and Shiki killed that part. as for chapter 4, it gives out lots of clues and how background on how Shiki became the Shiki we know right now. i'm reading chapter 5...but the site i was reading from only translated it halfway T_T... |

baka-tsuki.net. that's where i'm getting my Kara no Kyoukai, but it's only translated to chapter 5. a little warning though...the book is really hard to understand since it kinda goes round back and around... |

@ Aiced if you would like the original copy (like i do) you can order the novels at Himeyashop.com. That is where i buy the majority of my...ahem...games. Also its the place i order Fate/Zero from. The good news is they now accept Paypal as a form of payment....so it's easier to order stuff from them...although they can get a tad expensive. |

@ Z Kara is more in the lines of Tsukihime than Fate....so the action level may not be as exciting as Fate. It is a more dramatic & story driven....if you liked Tsukihime you'll definitely like Kara. Like i said before it's like the spiritual predessor to Tsukihime...they used the premises of Kara that would eventually become Tsukihime. Both Kinoko Nasu-san & Takashi Takeuchi-san are masters of story telling...& believe me for i have read the novels & Kay is in the process of reading it...its better than some of the games i've played. The detail & description in the novel is absolutely incredible! I just hope the movie is long enough to explain everything....of course after the film they can always do a TV series (prays). |
