Search problems...(forums)
Link | by Black Rock Shooter! on 2007-01-20 03:09:32 (edited 2007-01-20 03:12:31)
i have problems with the search function for some reason...a few minutes ago, i was looking for the thread 'Study: Is 320 bitrate overkill?' in the Programming topic. so i went ahead to the search page, and typed in 'bitrate' in the search box and selected 'Programming' for topic. it came out empty...then i tried 'overkill' and '320', but i still didn't find the thread. so i have to manually search page by page.

so after i posted in that thread, i curiously tried searching for 'Study: Is 320 bitrate overkill?' in the search box...and i pretty much got the link...then i tried 'Is 320 bitrate overkill?' and i didn't get the thread...weird...

so i was wondering if there's a fix for this cause if we wanted to search for a particular thread, we have to know what's the full name of the thread and some thread has long and hard names to remember...

ps:tried the method from the Faq, didn't help me there...

pss:encountered this problem for quite awhile already, even if i said a few minutes ago, probably this is one of the many reasons why you could see repeat threads everywhere...

I also have the same problem whenever I use the forum's search button unlike the anime's search which was working just fine though I'm using firefox 2.0

The search function in the forums only searches by the first word in the thread.
For example:
A Search for the "Life vs Suicide" will not appear for a search of "Suicide," but will appear for "Life." Many a moon ago it worked with searches for the middle term of "vs," I'm not sure if this was changed for streamlining purposes.

hmm i tried searching with 'Study' and the thread i was looking for came out...so it could search the first word of the thread...but it'll be difficult to search for the thread we're looking for if we only know what's in the middle though...

the forum does not support fulltext (keyword matching) search.
stress on the server from the music search is already enough as it is.
it is unlikely that this feature will be added in the near future.
for now, you will have to search the first part of the title string.
