in america, christmas is an excuse to waste money buying things for people that they don't really want or need. every year, i just burn everyone a CD of a good audio book, or maybe some anime. bah humbug.

Just a side note: please don't make this thread a debate on religion, people's beliefs, and whether or not Christmas is a fake holiday or anything.

Also, if you guys get offended by anyone saying something against what you believe in, you're taking it too hard. Lighten up. ;p

Anyway, Christmas last year consisted of much family extravaganza-ing and $150. I'm just hoping to get at least $100 again, so I can buy myself that video card I want. >:)

Lots of crazy decorations in South Korea. BIG tree and happy thanks thanks and more thanks and lots of money. since we're family oriented also, and since we are usually big families, we just give money instead of present. Let the kids decide what they want. :P

Christmas in Germany?
We`re not so extravagant here. Most familys decorates their house with some lights on the windows but almost nobody enwraps the house in lightshows. But I don`t really know how christmas is in Germany cause I stay at home all the time. We have big christmas markets but I never went to one. I don`t like large crowds of people.
My family is distributed all over the world. In France, in Germany, in the US and in Vietnam. And thats only the familys of the brothers and sisters of my parents. (Don`t know the cousins of them)
Every christmas we`re in France where the majority of my moms brothers and sisters live. It`s not very interesting. A lot of family members come and we eat toghether and then it`s over.
So, it`s nothing special here.

Let's see Christmas in Peru is happiness!! A lot of fireworks, lights, gifts...people singing and having fun...

Christmass in America...sadness...no fireworks...some lights...people are sad and depressed...Could be just my case...I miss my country too much...I used to celebrate it in a huge party with X-mas music, but here...we remember the people that are in Peru, so we all get really depressed...I love gifts though...^-^
In America people are wild...just like Lau said...CRAZY SHOPPING AND MONEY is wasted!!!

Agree with Gendou too! ^-^

Eh...I live in America so all Christmas here is about is buying crap that we don't have the money for so we max out our credit cards and spend the next year trying to get out of debt just so we can put ourselves back into debt by buying stuff for the next christmas.

Well christmas for a mexican means a big get together with friends and family and whoever else that might drop in.

it also means Tequila, loud music, mountians of food you know tamales, the traditional Ponche de frutas (ponche is a big pot of different fruits boiled in water and for grown ups spiked with with tequila), and lots of pinatas being broken everywhere, and at twelve o' clock burning of fireworks.

Inother words another excuse to party till the next day.

and what's that of america's christmas being sad, just find a good mexican friend and you'll be partying till the next day. of course there won't be any fireworks but the rest will still be there.
