Having problems posting today. Most of my replies don't seem to be recognised and disappear. The thread is left untouched. Help?

Wait a minute, are you sure about that?

Try waiting until the page loads after you "post reply." If you close the tab/window/whatever before the stuff you typed is sent off and saved on the server you're basically just setting loose the data into the depths of oblivion to never be recovered. Data doesn't like that so just wait 'till the page loads.

I do wait for the page to load though, which takes a few seconds, that's the problem. It seems to finish and takes me back to the thread I was posting on, but my post isn't there. That's the strange thing and I don't understand why.

This seems fine though oddly enough.

Actually come to think of it, could a dodgy connection cause data to be lost?

Wait a minute, are you sure about that?

If you have a slow connection then you could have problems posting. What kind of connection are you on? This site has experienced slowdown before, but not too much recently.

When you 'post', you're sending information to the server to add your information to the database. The packet size(s) aren't even that big, so posting is relatively quick. If it takes more than 10 seconds (imo) for the page to come up, something went bad in transit.

Uh, hope that made sense. XD

Also, what kind of connection do you have and how many times does it 'drop'?

please, if you experience this again, view the page source and send me the date and time which can be found near the bottom. i can use this information to try and find the problem, supposing it isn't user error.

I'm having trouble too.

I tried posting in the Critic's Bar thread, but I got the "No more that 100 posts in a thread per 24 hours" message, and I haven't yet posted in that thread today.

no one thread may be posted in over 100 times in 24 hours.
this is a new sanity check added today.
if you experience an error, please be specific so i can reproduce it.

I'll add a detail, or two, to the problem I experienced that kicked this off.

I'm on broadband, so I wouldn't really expect a problem as such, but you never know. Even then posts take a few seconds to finalise.

With my failed posts, they were on old threads. *Hmmm*

With said failed posts, it returns me to the thread, but there's an empty reply box at the top. When you write a reply, the reply box is at the bottom. Also use Firefox.

I haven't been able to repeat the problems, but that's pretty much all the information I can remember.

Wait a minute, are you sure about that?
