For some reason I feel like waxing poetical.

Anime's been a part of my life since I was about 3 or 4 years old, when Robotech and Speed Racer were early morning Saturday cartoons on some channel I've long since forgotten. I saw a really cool show about cool cars and kickass giant robots, and days of Saturday morning cartoons shifted into an interest with Power Rangers when I was 5, which channeled into interests in Mega Man, Zelda, and Final Fantasy up to the year Pokemon came out, and I got into anime seriously when Digimon and Escaflowne followed in Pikachu's wake, and the Cartoon Network blocks of Toonami and Adult Swim gave us the classics like Cowboy Bebop and Trigun, and continued to feed us until broadband made its way into every home.

I continued into anime through high school, when broadband internet really started to take off and Kazaa, Limewire, and eventually BitTorrent fed myself and my friends the latest and greatest from Japan. We grew up into the series that would help influence us the rest of our lives - my friends in particular loved Hagaren, My-Hime, One Piece, X/1999, Gundam Seed, Weiss Kreuz, .hack, god, there were so many of them, and we followed them all. This, coincidentally, was the time in our lives that DDR started to take off, and the arcade would be one of our favorite hangouts (RIP Arcade Infinity). Some of our grades suffered (mine certainly did) as we lived the otaku lifestyle, but this lifestyle brought me close to some of the best friends I'll ever have in my life.

We moved on to college, and we all struggled with how to reconcile the otaku lifestyle with the demands of a college workload. One of my friends that let it go entirely is now studying for a doctorate at Yale. Two more of them still go to a con every now and then, but they've still got time to get married and study for their MBAs and law degrees. Two of my other friends now work as business analysts at Bandai. Several more of them studied art or film and are working on breaking into the industry. Some others still live the life like they did in high school and shuffle between jobs and classes. For my part, I let my obsession grow unhealthy and let it negatively influence my grades to the point where I was suspended from school for a year. I made it though, and I'm now working as an aerospace engineer.

I'm 25 years old now, and that's about 22 years of a life with anime. It's always going to be a loved part of my life, no matter how small or big it gets. I certainly don't have the time to be caught up with everything that the studios are putting out, and there may be a time when I'll never be able to follow it at all. But I'll always look back on my high school days watching anime with my best friends and stomping arrows at Arcade Infinity with nostalgia. And when there's a rainy day, and my family's stuck at home with nothing to do, it'll be movie night with the kids, and I'll pull up Digimon Adventure on Netflix.

At my current 30 years, I'm proud to say that I love anime more than i have ever done it in the rest of my youth. It's just that there's so much appeal to it, has any of you consider how cool they are? These shows convey so many different feelings: passionate love, rage, hate, pride, goofiness, all of these wrapped in a sweet little body with enormous eyes that flicker with the light of a full moon. I have posters in my room, figurines next to my bed, my phone has an anime theme, Gosh even my working out playlist if filled with anime intros and endings. How long will I continue to do this? probably till the end of my days.

Too carried away? maybe. Do you see me caring? No. #AnimeForever #AnimeBoston #ProudGeek

Been watching anime for over 20 years (man, I feel old being able to say that) and I don't plan to stop until writers finally stop coming up with decent plots. I.E. when everything that comes out is Ecchie, which seems to be on the rise, and decent plots on the fall. -_-

I'd say it depends on whether the storylines will keep on intriguing me or not.
Tho I often find myself taking a break from a serie if it's too long and then start watching it again at a later period.
But for now, I ain't tired of anime yet.
