Censorship in video games is not needed because of one orginization and its called the ESRB. The ESRB clearley lablels games based on their content , then it rates the game corresponding to the appropriate age level. The problem is parents let their children play violent or sexually explicit games and are outraged by the content. My advice is look at the RATING! If these morons would just look at the rating then they would have an accurate oicture of what it is they are buying. Therefore the crap saying the rating doesnt clearley identify the contents of the game is completley ludacris. I've seen these ratings and they tell the buyer exactly what the games contents include. Censorship is not neede in games, just like movies, and music. These things have warnings placed on them for a reason to let the buyer know what they're buying!

When I was 12, I was in blockbuster and couldn't find a game I wanted to rent. "Look, Shinobi." "Mom, that's rated M!" I am a very strait-laced child. I don't play violent games like GTA. But I fully believe that mature people should be able to play these games. I found out that content was removed from the English version of Shadow the Hedgehog and was quite pissed.

Apparently people were outraged at the sex mini game in GTA. I say, haven't quite a few 17 year olds done the nasty FOR REAL? I don't think such a thing is a big deal for a 17, or even a 16 year old to see. A 13 year old or younger, it might be pretty bad, but that's the parent's fault for being innatentive!

IT'S AN ATTACK ON FREE EXPRESSION! Movies and books get to do whatever they want, but with video games no! Video games that, mind you, are not handed out for free to children. We need to BUY them. And I don't want people cheapening the of expierience what I spend my hard-earned money on! When I buy a game I want the author's intention, equipped with whatever violence, blood, language, or especially drama that is appropriate to the situation.

the main problem is with lazy parents.
i heard stories that the cashiers at the counter told the parents that the game is rated M. its the parents that need to be more aware.
now the stuff i seen in games can get bad.(take mortal kombat for an example.)
the main fault is that kids want the game and the parents get it for them so that the will be quiet.

its the parents that need to be more aware if they dont want their kids to play those games.

YOU HERE THAT PARENTS! GET OFF YOUR LAZY BUTTS AND CHECK THOSE GAMES!

Lax parenting is my biggest pet peeve. If you're going to spawn these little monsters than take responsibility for them!

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but video game censorship does NOT violate the First Amendment.

In a case too old for me to remeber, the Supreme Court ruled that video games had no protection via the First, so it's perfectly legal to censor the games.

You can thank Joe Lieberman for that one.
