Space hopping?
|
With the discovery of a tenth planetoid or whatever it is makes me ask a question. Originally I thought there were just nine little planets in our solar system and nothing beyond for a looooooooong ways. But suddenly I learn people discovered little Xena. I wonder what is between our solar system and the next closest one? Are there a bunch of little planetoids that we don't know about? Would it be possible for to make some little thing-a-ma-jig that can hop from little plantoid to dwarfoid to hobbitoid? Or is it if anything wants to make it to the next solar system it has to make a looong boring trip through a vaste nothingness to get there. |

I don't know about a thing-a-ma-jig, but I'm sure someone could make a ker-jigger that could hop from rock to rock.

the universe is rather HUGE and WIDE for little people to venture around in... let alone the extreme lack of oxygen we need to breath and the gravity to stay on foot. there IS big possibility that many other planetoids could be existing, and even other solar systems with their own sun and planets --- they are just yet to be discovered. today's technology is still not extravagant enough to handle the pressure and contain lifeforms in one shuttle, so they couldn't go around and go planet-hopping yet. what more solar system hopping? ^_^ -michiyo- beware. the QueeN oF SiGGieS is here. kill that mr. scrolly or your siggy goes BAI BAI. it's solidarity month! let's be united! +[-- GeNDouNiaNS: i am half-back! visit my blog by clicking on the siggie banner! updated: 12.07.07 --]+

Well maybe a human will be longer in the future. But maybe a auntomatic, robotic, computeric, spaceshipic, and shuttleic, starcraftic, protoss type observer thing-a-ma-jig. |

Since yesterday Pluto isnt called a "Planet" any longer. He is now official degraded as a Dwarf planet. These Planets came from the Oort cloud. After that cloud there is mostly nothing until the next solar system with its own cloud. The "official" End of a solar system is, as far as I know, the heliosheth. In this zone the solar wind is slowed down. The Voayager Missions are exploring that phenomenon. After that, there is real outer space - nothing. Many links, but I hope, they will help. My personal opinion to exploring space: Im a StarTrek Fan! We will get there someday. |

I see I see. Hmmmm hmmmm hmmmmm. *Begins making blueprints for a Protoss Aribiter. I think this is the best way to go about traveling the universe. |

yep. They've discovered a handful of little planet-ish things floating around out there, but because they have very eccentric orbits, and all the ones that are being discovered are in the part of they're orbit closest to the sun, astronomers (at least the ones at Palomar) think there's gonna be a lot more stuff discovered over the next few decades.
10 more years!
