Well.. I'm not sure if this topic should be here, or in the Japan section.. since I'm specifically referring to air travel to Japan from abroad... Anyway, after the latest, foiled, airplane terror plots and the new luggage restrictions in place (in several countries).. I'm particularly concerned about how this will affect air travel to (and from) Japan. Is Japan also on the bandwagon of outlawing "risky items" in all of its airports?? How am I supposed to bring back Japanese candy as souvenirs for my family and friends at home ..if all foodstuffs are barred at airports??? (O_o) I feel bad for those people who got their personal belongings confiscated by airport securities... Necessary, hygienic items, such as deodorant, toothpaste...and lip balm? That's going too far, for me... especially for a 17-hour flight! m(― ―;;;)m Why don't they search for suspicious people, instead of suspicious items??? They might as well stop ALL PEOPLE from boarding airplanes...!!! (>_<;;;) *lol* I just had to get that off my chest... (^^;;;) |

Its for the security. Come on, a small piece of your/everyones time compared to the safety of all passengers will be a logical thing to do. Also, don't bring something that is stinky like a "Durian" (it smells like hell but tastes like heaven).![]()

Security, my arse! (>∀<;) Waiting for hours more in the Customs line..?? No way... I CHOOSE TO DIE!!!!!!!! (XP) *lol* The airplanes will stink because no one has deodorant to wear.. And they won't let you bring on liquor, either... (@_@) Besides...if terrorists want to kill us, they'll come up with more innovative ways to do it, anyway... (◎゜∀゜◎) |

Searching the suspicious people won't help, I was spot searched on my flight out from Japan. They say it was "random." It the least suspicious ones that usually have c4 in their little dollies. Little Suzie can't be trusted. |

Well, if they search for suspicious people, then they probably gonna search all of the people.....and that's a much waste of time then, searching for items..... If they stop all people from broading planes, then this all those airports were for nothing....you just have to bare it....if you wanna travel...>.> |

My sister (though not on purpose) got on to a plane at the Vancouver airport with her pocket knife, nail file, and even her nail clippers. I was surprised, especially with the extreme new security measures.

Guys, this is why we can check in our luggage! If you're going to have a bunch of (non-breakable) souvenirs, and with these high times, then check it in with your other luggage! Just because you can't carry it on doesn't mean you can bring it back home (unless it's food, plant, commercial goods (as in to sell here in the US), or other things stated in the declaration form (..kinda forgot). In a way, I lucked out because I came back from the Philippines a week before this happened. Of course, I have a lot of cookies and other goodies I want to bring back to the states from there, so what do I do? Stuff all me and my dad's clothes in my suitcase (which is a monster of a thing) and stuff the rest of the goodies into the other suitcase. There was even room for a few more things as well. So here's a tip if you're traveling abroad and you want to bring back souvenirs: make sure you at least bring a hard suitcase! :) Anyway, for trips overseas, they should provide you with a toothbrush/toothpaste, and I'm sure everyone could live without a shave or facial wash or whatever for a few hours. I'm also sure you'd spend most of your time sleeping if you don't have anything better to do. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

make sure to have a copy of your reservation code or record locator. so that when there's sudden cancellation of flights, you can call reservations hotline right away and ask for reaccomodation. but be calm, because there are a lot of passengers asking for reaccomodation and most often all flights for your day of departure are already fully booked. so control your temper and be patient, there's probably no other option but to fly the next day. all flight cancellations are for passengers own welfare anyway. and please make sure you have all your things with you before boarding off the plane. i'm pretty sure, no one in the security would be able to help you find your lost contact lens. duh?! especially if your going to call the customer service after a day or two. even for lost cellphones or jackets. people... if you think you lost something at the airport, you have to go to the lost and found desk at the airport right away. and don't ever try to call reservations hotline in such cases or you'd be pissed off because they won't be of help. for lost baggages, you also have to file a claim first at the ATO not through the customer service/reservations hotline. ![]() |

wewell actually dont bring anything Flamable ,liquid stuff(it need to be sealed), Fresh fruits, metal objects(nail clippers, hair clips is cool they are suppose to give it to u when they scan u) . They wont actually go trough all ur stuff like the big stuff(luggage) that u wont carry in the plane.. but they are strick on wut stuff u have with u they will check ur bags, pockets, and stuff..there are lots of stations there and it will check ur stuff many times hehe -.-; about tooth paste and lip bam it would be very funny if they confiscate that u should put it on ur luggage and seal the cap of the toothpaste...well lip bam no i dont think so they wont confiscate that and always keep ur self down. act normal do not act like a terrorist... when i was in the immigration in Vancouver there is that thing" do not act like a terrorist" painted on the wall... Turn off ur cell phone too u could also bring loptop with u inside the plane but they will give u notices when is the time to use ur lop top.. pirated CD's are illegal i think thats all u need to know Good luck and good day |

Vancouver is weird. (XD) What's "do not act like a terrorist"??? Did that sign on the wall say what terrorists act like?? That's a funny thing! (^∀^) Oh, and they did confiscate women passengers' lip-gloss. Our local TV news stations showed the bins and bins of 'new contraband'... Plus, travel authorities are considering to ban all electronic equipment, such as cell phones, laptops, cameras, etc. How's my camera gonna set off a bomb??? *lol* Well... I suppose we could have it worse off... like how things are in London. ↓ ↓ But still.... ....I'm just gonna save up money, buy my own jet plane, and travel wherever, whenever.... m(― ―)m |

Thanks, Michiyo-san! ★ I feel a bit better knowing that at least one person agrees with me! You can borrow my (future) private jet plane, anytime!! o(^O^;;)v Whenever I'm not using it, anyway... (^^;;) Well... I'm leaving for Japan in precisely.. 6 days! So.. we'll see how it goes. (^∀^)v I was searching for a list of prohibited and permitted items that passengers could carry on aircraft.. And I found this page. It specifically points out that "gel-filled bras and similar prosthetics" are allowed. I'm so glad!!! v(*^O^*;;)v *lmao* But this is something that terrorists can use to their advantage... Maybe you can claim to have some sort of severe, medical lip condition, Michiyo-san..?! Think it'll work?!? (^^;;;) |

@ Rika I dunno about those Lip balm sort of things... But We are not allowed to Bring Moblie phone maybe just because we can cause some distortion to the radar system so we aren't allowed to bring it... But Confiscated it??? I dont know why it's necessarry.... (i spell bad didn't i?) ![]() |
