Q.Windows XP/Vista into my mac
|
I think that many mac buyers do this but I am planning to install windows into my mac and replace Mac Os x. Although I am more than happy to get rid of mac, there are some programs such as ical, dashboard, and photo booth that I want to keep. My question is, is there any way of installing windows and keeping these programs or a way i can download just a few max prograns without having to put in OS X into my computer? |

Ok, A: Why in the world would you want to get rid of OS X? B: Mac software is written for Mac OS, and will run only on Mac OS. Outside of emulators and compatibility layers (which I know nothing of), your best bet is to find some open source alternative program. C: For the love of god, why get rid of OS X? Wouldn't you be better off trying boot camp? |

Running OS X applications outside of OS X is impossible, as far as I know there is no sort of emulation available to do that. As PSOPlayer points out, why for the love of god would you like to get ris of OS X? O.o Just run Windows inside OS X thru virtualization,Parallels, there are some others, so you don't even have to dual boot with boot camp.

actually, it IS possible to replace it with windows. but why in the world would you want to get rid of OS X????? O_o the thing is, if you do that, your system wouldn't run as fast as it should because it wasn't made for it. it was made for OS X, and so, it's meant to be used for that. it just might be better to buy a new laptop or pc instead of replacing your system. -michiyo- beware. the QueeN oF SiGGieS is here. kill that mr. scrolly or your siggy goes BAI BAI. it's solidarity month! let's be united! +[-- GeNDouNiaNS: i am half-back! visit my blog by clicking on the siggie banner! updated: 12.07.07 --]+

There are windows versions of iTunes and Quicktime, so you can still make use of your iPod (if you have one) and still watch quicktime movies. |

Thanks everyone i got a techy to install windows xp into the mac, he split the memory between the 2 of them so i can boot up in either. I wated to get rid os OS because it isnt compatible with a lot of the things i desire. Its just that as a newbie mac user, i rather just stick to windows seetings because thats the standard program used in society. I dont want to and can't just buy a new laptop, this is the 15inch macbook pro so speed isnt something to worry about but i find that it overheats exesively(idk about spelling_ |

Do what you have to in Windows, but do your best to make use of OSX. It's much better for security and speed. As you get used to it, you can find open source alternatives to many windows only programs and you'll be able to stay with it longer. |
