Hi hi everybody! i just got back from AX 06 just a couple hours ago. Again it was a worthwhile experience & for those who have never been to a convention i highly reccommend going to at least one in your lifetime. This year was a once in a lifetime experience as the mega manga group known as CLAMP made their 1st trip to Nth America. I'll say more about that later :) This years guess list was very good. Joining CLAMP were some pretty prestiges individuals. Mr. Ishiguro Noboru (worked on series like Macross, Atom Boy, Yamato, current series Mushishi) Mr. Izubuchi Yutaka (worked on Gundam-Char's Counterattack, Loddoss War) Ms. Koge-Donbo (Digi Charat, Snow Fairy Sugar) Mr. Kyoda Tomoki (worked on Eureka Seven, RAHXEPHON, FMP, FMA) Mr. Mizushima Seiji (director of FMA) Mr. Nagahama Hiroshi (worked on Jubei, School Rumble, Sister Princess) Ms. Nakajima Atsuko (worked on Lum, Ranma 1/2, Getbackers, You're under Arrest) Ms. Takeuchi Mick (creator of Her Majesty's Dog manga) Mana (who doesn't know him!...Malice Mizer) Mr. Furuya Toru (voiced Yamcha, Amuro Ray, Tuxedo Kamen, Dark) Ms. Yozuca & Ms. Rino (singer for Da Capo series/games) Ms. Laura Bailey (voiced Tohru in Fruits Baskets, Lust in FMA..will direct Tsubasa Chronicles) Mr. Vic Mignogna (voiced Ed in FMA, Hikaru in Macross) Mr. Crispin Freeman (voiced Alucard in Hellsing, Touga in Utena) With so many guest there wasn't alot of time to spend at their panels....many panels overlap which caused me to miss some of them. Long lineups doesn't help either....so i had to choose the ones i really wanted to attend & unfortunately have to miss out on some. I couldn't attend the free for all autograph signing on the last day for i had to catch my flight in the morning! So i loss my chance to get Mr.Ishiguro,Mr.Izubuchi,Koge-Donbo,Mr.Mizushima....pretty upset about this. This year the registration process went ALOT faster than previous years but during the con the lineups to non-ticketed events were insane! They fixed one problem but other annoying problems occured. The worst was waiting to get in to the CLAMP panel...over 2 hours in waiting in line! But in the end it was worth it cause i got their autographs (i'll show my autographs later)....bad thing no photos, videos of any kind...i guess they want their idenities kept a secret. They showed trailers for the Holic/Tsubasa movie that will be released soon (awesome!)...a timeline & history of CLAMP over the years....& their work place....very clean for a art studio :) Anyways i promised alot of photos but i was having alot of fun i didn't take as many as i should have....some i rushed it & they didn't turn out to good. I'll post the ones that i have uploaded so far....as well as the autographs i recieved. If you have any questions or if anyone else attended the con i love to hear your thoughts on it....was it worth it? Oh...sorry about the "side-views" of some of the pics....like i said i haven't fully uploaded or fixed them yet ^^ |

Hehe, you met the FMA Creator and other people from that anime as well. COOLL!!! I hope to go to this, but maybe I hope to actually be appart of it, becomming an animator and all. *smiles* Is that Chun-Li from Street Fighter? Looks like her. That's also cool how they put your name in Kanji, that's really cool, lol. From this, bet you had a lot of fun. I wish they would have one in PA, but close to where I live, LOL!! T-T ------- |

Anime expo 2006 this year was sooo fun....although ill never understand why people are into dubs...like laura bailey, vic, and freeman, although they are really famous and stuff, to me- the voices just dont fit the characters. |

I don't know....not all dub voice actors are bad. I think Crispin Freeman is an outstanding voice actor....his Alucard is excellent. Sometimes i think that anime voice actors try to hard to get into character....i wonder sometimes if they study the original voices & at least try to be close to them. Anyways to those who went & recieved CLAMP's autograph did you find that experience a little wierd. I mean the way they won't allow you to at least shake their hands...& to stand behind a red line at all times. Also the whole room was surrounded by bodyguards....i'm pleased that i was able to get an autograph cause i heard only a few hundred were able to. But still it was a tad intimidating. The most enjoyable was getting Yozuca's autograph....a bonus that the character designer for Da Capo was there as well also the songwriter Tororo was present too. A represenative from the company that made Da Capo (Circus) was also there! Yozuca was a very nice person & the few words that i spoke to her in japanese (kinda badly i might add) she didn't mind....she thought it was funny...embarrassing ^^. This experience i enjoyed & remember the most :) Say also how much did you spend in the dealers room....i met a guy who spent close to 2 grand!!!! That's crazy! I spent about 200 bucks but mostly for figurines & artbooks. I finally found the Meer Campbell figure i've been looking for! She's wearing a skimpy yellow bikini which is removable...the skirt...she's not naked! Also picked up a Lacus & Stellar figure as well.I'm please with what i got. |

I also went, I didn't go meet those dub voice actors though... Never watch it with dub! Anyways, it was sooo fun! I met Koge Donbo! Koge Donbo was a nice person ^_^ Not to mention I got her signature! Also I got some stuff... A Puchiko cap, and a Prinny doll! They are both cute! I am going next year too!
Nakurunaisa!
Nosebleeds are the sweat of your heart. :D

Next year will be in Long Beach California....no word on who'll be there. Time to start saving up for this one :) Usually in conventions there's one or two REALLY big name guests & some minor ones. It all depends on who's available, if they have the time in their busy schedules to attend....it's all about timing. @reveriemetherlance I misssed Ms.Koge Donbo's panel so i missed out on her autograph....did she draw some Digi Charat character or was it a predrawn board like CLAMP? Did you get the Prinny doll at the Nippon Icchi booth?...i was thinking about getting it but settled for the box of little figures instead. If they had a Flonne stuff I'll definitely get that! FLONNE'S AWESOME!!!! |

Cool, I can defenitley go then! Maybe Gendou members/other anime site members can meet there and divide a hotel fee? My freind Karl from New York can meet me there, he goes to Otokan too... This year at EVO in Vegas, several of us Video Game Masters plan on splitting a $600 suite! |

I also would like to go in these conventions. Last time in the Philippines, my sister became an usherette on AXN's anime convention. Autograph signing, give-aways, prizes, cos-plays, it is sure fun to be there. The funny thing my sister told me is that there was this big guy, which she thought was a father of some kids attending, but the guy joined the Karaoke Anime-OP Themes Challenge! And he sang the Sakura Wars theme complete with action! Well, you'll never know who's an OTAKU fan :-) in real life. |
