voice overs

hey guys, i believe i speak for all anime fans when i say that im sick of all the crap english anime translations! its no secret that anime is more popular in the east, and believe me here's the reason: the middleman. im so sick of trying to watch anime, but being so distracted by the unprofessional voice acting, that i think im watchinmg seaseme street. the fact that they censore out the best parts dont help either. it's about time that westeners realise that theres cartoons for kids and cartoons for adults. i cant even watch anime in english anymore, it has to be subbed with the original japanese voices. imean the legendary dragon ball z was r18 in japan, but in the west its seen as a kid's show! anime masterpieces are being ruined' professionalism has to come to translated anime now!

i agree,all my animes are in japanese voices with english subs.It makes it interesting to watch when they are speaking jap.Although some of my friends prefer anime with english voices saying that they can understand more instead of reading the subs but i still prefer the ones with english substitles.

Definetily! Japanese voices are better than english......i'd prefer japanese with sub than english dubbed anytime. truthfully i can understand it better when there is a sub and their voices are japanese because they are much more into the emotion behind the character of the anime. english dub are just plane wired.

Yami yugi's voice does not suite him at all (He's like a full grown man doesn't match at all, and his only a teenager).

Yeah, so true. Hell, even fandub voice actors are better than them.

I understand what you are saying. One example I'll give is FFVII Advent Children. The english voices sucked so much I almost broke my DVD remote because it wouldn't change the audio to japanese.

@Himeko Chan:
I would have to agree with you...uggghhhh *ears bleed when thinking of Advent Children english voices* yeah I bought the dvd and after listening to them talk for about 10 seconds, I was quick to switch back to the japanese voices....i would have to say the worst english voice out of all of them was Aerith's....I also didn't like their translation because it sounded like someone literally took a japanese dictionary and took the english words from it...one of the lines that I hate the most is when they replaced "zuru zuru" from the japanese version to "dilly dally shilly shally" D: (makes me want to smack whoever wrote the english words and for making cloud, tifa, and aerith say it)...

right now the english dubbing i am not liking is Naruto (I can't download it online since my computer is slow, so i have no choice but to watch the english one)....I get so distracted by their horrible voices (like when Naruto keeps saying "Believe it!" after almost EVERY sentence D:)....

Wherever the wind is, there are spirits.... Fan of FFVII: Advent Children

As long as I like it, understand it properly, im fine. Don't completely say america voice casting sucks, because it's not. Sure some of the time, yes, but not all the time! I live in America, and all the anime I've seen, on tv, internet, etc... I've liked!

You guys only say American Voice Casting sucks, only because they're duplicating the same voice, emmotions, how they said it, as the Original Japanese Voice. If I say "One Thing" and tell someone else to say it, they're gonna say "One Thing" basically with no feeling or anything! But whatever, im fine with anime voice casting right now, so I don't care!

Oh, about the Yu-Gi-Oh thing, he has a regular voice! A Child voice. He only has that older man voice when he uses the Milenium Item and changes, and his PERSONALLITY changes also to Yami!

i'll admit that some dubbing's good. i mean sure, dbz voices were good. but sometimes esp when the actors have to do multiple voices, i mean its pretty hard for them to channel the character, ya know? there's nothing wrong with voices in cartoon movies like the disney cartoons, cos they know what sort of character to play and they only need to one character. thats what i think it should be. one char at per actor, and let them see the anime clips so they know what's expected.

I happen to like both anime that's dubbed and subbed. For the dubbed anime, it normally depends on which company is distributing it and which actors are going to be in it. The actor rule applies for the subbed anime as well.

Oh, and at Himeko-chan and Spiritdragon: Despite the fact that there were some awesome voice actors in the Advent Children dub, I didn't really feed comfortable watching it because of the lip movements of the characters. They were just too realistic. Oh, and Sephiroth's voice was too goody-goody for me. Crispin Freeman should have played him instead of George "Superman" Newburn.
