i was talking to my brother about J-rock, and played L'Arc-En-Ciel for him (he says it sounds really "theme-songy" lol) and he asked if there's death metal in Japan and said he'd like to hear some. does anyone know of any bands that i can tell him about? |
Re: Japanese death metal?

L'Arc~en~Ciel is pop/rock. There are a lot of hard j-rock bands and most of them are visual kei. I'm not exactly familiar with death metal since I'm more into punk. But you can try D'espairsRay. I'm not sure though whether they are death metal or not but they are put as goth metal. Other than that, these are the bands that people usually recommended for j-metal: Mucc, Kagerou, Ares, Psycho le Cemu, Vidoll. Hope that helps. |

yep i know L'Arc-en-Ciel isn't metal lol, just he asked me for a cd to play in the car and that was what i had handy, he said he'd rather hear some death metal. he was into Japanese culture a while back and sorta fell out of it, he never got into the music or anime much before. i'm hoping i can get him into it, would be nice to have one more person who likes some of the stuff i do. we generally have identical taste in movies and music as it is but it'd be cool if he got interested in j-rock and anime so we could share cds and dvds :) anyway thanks for the suggestions so far, i'll write them down |

@ Sameru I can definitly tell you, that Black Sabbath was NOT death metal. Black Sabbath played normal heavy metal, thats all. Cannibal Corpse, Children Of Bodom, Bolt Thrower... yeah thats death metal but not Black Sabbath ;) |
Re: Japanese death metal?
|
@ urishima Children Of Bodom isnt Death Metal either. They are Black Metal. |

I haven'theard of any Japanese death metal and I don't even know what it means. XD |
Re: Japanese death metal?

@ savedbythebell Children Of Bodom are definitly NOT black metal. To be correct, they play melodic death metal with speed metal elements. Believe me, I'm a big Children Of Bodom fan. Black metal is something like Nargaroth, Satyricon, Burzum, Eisregen and so on |
