Unbelievable what they can do with CG backgrounds these days. I hope that manga/anime characters still stay as hand-drawn, though, unlike those Hollywood guffs that forgot to honor the skills of the likes of Hanna-Barbera and Disney.

Poking this thread again since the fansubs for episode 1 have been released. I dunno. I just watched the first episode. Its really good. Its only the first episode but its so... beautifully and brilliantly crafted. The animation, the style of storytelling, everything. geh. I could prolly say a lot about how nice it is. But you won't get it unless you watch it. Or maybe i'm just strange... Theres something about emotions in animation that you can't get in dramas.. what is it? the colors? the sounds? i don't know. Just go watch it, already. |

heys! im interested!! the animation looks terrifically unbelievably nice. ^^ but what's it about? romace story? seems lyk it.. hope its gonna be good. cause, ermms, i usually dont watch heavily-themed romance anime.

WOW its like a life like water color painting evrythings shine and the graphix is so smooth i wish that the next haruhi suzumiya is like this so cool But is this 5cm anime story nice

I agree with h4xor Shinkai has outdone himself! His other stuff "Voices of a Distant Star" & "The Place Promised in Our Early Days" are both beautiful crafted features....in terms of story & visuals. I know him from his works directing openings for Minori's "visual novel" games like the one in my profile...."EF - a tale of the two"...which is why i think eventually that game will be made into an anime series. The story of 5cm is a little vague...basically its a 3 part film focusing on a boy & a girl who drift apart over time....but eventually reunite. Well thats the basic assumption i get by reading what i've seen.  |

yesss! people who understand my love for this anime! oh. EF a fairy tale of the two openings were directed by shinkai? my friend came back from japan recently and got me a poster from it, which looked really good. but i havent watched/read/downloaded it though =( i did watch voices of a distant star. although i didnt like the way he drew people, the scenes and storyline were so beautiful that i loved it anyway. i've never seen a sky that looked as nice as the ones in his animation =P hahahaha. they don't exactly drift apart, though. more like separated. mmm. byousoku is a lot like voices of a distant star in terms of storyline. sore ga ai desho! desho desho. |

I was thinking of downloading the German Subs(I think). there was the first part released....I really wanna see it I cant wait till they sub, in english, Byousoku 5cm... morethan that, I want the soundtrack >.< I really like the bg song on T1 |

I downloaded the RAW version (in the process of getting the fansubs)...seeing the sub will probably make me understand what is going on better. I can pick out a few things but the sub will really help. i agree with what you said Jov at the 'you draw anime thread'...it was hard understanding what he said...well gotta wait for the torrent to finish downloading.... Anyways the series looks absolutely gorgeous...like i said Shinkai-san has really outdone himself on this one. I just downloaded the special edition cd featuring the song 'One more time, One more chance' by Yamazaki Masayoshi....i like the calmness & peaceful sound of the song...it's a pretty good listen. |

I saw a trailer of this anime in crunchyroll.... i was really amazed at how beautiful this movie is... i can't wait to watch this... there are lots of beautiful sceneries which makes me feel really calm and at ease. i wonder how the story goes but just from watching the trailer, it made me feel touched.... |

I second JaydeL here. I'm hoping to dL this and be amazed myself. [edit] Ah, no wonder this film is getting really high remarks. The director brings up the famous, legendary director, Miyazaki Hayao! You know this piece has to be good. I haven't done any searching for it yet, but is it out? While quickly searching around, I read that it was out during Spring, earlier this year or so.

It's supposed to be out... I mean, i got to watch it a couple months ago... And like everyone said, my mouth hanged open the whole time watching this because of the crazy artwork and animation... The details, man, the details! And how they use the lighting is insane. OMG the scenery when they watch the shuttle being launched with the twilight sky in the background is just... O.o And the story is actually just a light romance, but it's still good to watch. The artwork an animation really plays a big role here... And i totally love the last scene with "one more time, one more chance" playing in the background. Probably the best combination of scene and soundtrack i've seen this year... Damn this movie's some piece of art! |

read the plot summary of the story a while ago… I can feel that this is gonna be depressing. The striking animation and the sad story, definitely makes a good combination. I can’t wait to see this soon… I’m cancelling some of my downloads to make room for this anime which I’m so excited about. It wouldn’t hurt to watch 60 minutes of beautiful animation ^_^ |

| I had seen it, absolutely amazing, first class for drawing and story, equal with Toki Wo Kakeru Shoujo (Girl who travel the time). I think one of the best anime movie ever created. |

just seen the movie. geee... this anime is depressing, the ending was sad. the story is divided into three which are all related to one another. anyway,everything is nice and highly detailed. because of the greatness of the artwork, i want to take screencaps of each scene and turn it into a wallpaper. o.O |

Haha, I have a few wallpapers of scenery from the movie. I find a ddL for the movie, although I'm not sure how the subs are. Apparently Triad was forced to drop it, with something involving ADV Films. I'm in no rush to see it, since it's been out for a few months now. If I can, I'll ask my dad tomorrow if I can buy it online or something if I can find a nice place to get it online. Seems Amazon.com has a nice offer and it's not that much. Sweet. :3
