Want a translation? Need help? Ask here!
Link | by on 2006-08-28 21:45:05 (edited 2007-02-14 17:17:22)
Okay, I noticed a whole lot of threads asking for translations and transliterations. So I decided to make this sticky for any kind of translation or transliteration.

If you need something translated, ask in this thread.
If you need something transliterated (into kana or romaji), ask in this thread.
If you need to translate something into Russian ... oh, wait, you can't do it in this thread! (Keep in mind that this is the 日本語 board)

Also, when something is translated/transliterated please don't post the same translation/transliteration unless it's a CORRECTION. We can also 'argue' translations/transliteration as well just as long as it we all agree that a translation/transliteration does have multiple (not DUPLICATE) or different readings.

With that said, post away!

Hmmmm i just want to confirm, is it true that "agito" means fang? Normally fang is translated as "kiba" but i read somewhere that agito also means fang.

Btw, i searched here but no results, so i'm trying to ask here...

After almost 2 months... a post!

Ah anyway, I'll ask one of my friends about this. Just wondering where you heard/seen 'agito'? Sorry if I can't be of help right away. :x

From the manga Tenjou Tenge! This manga has a lot of old poetic lines... Maybe 'agito' is one of the ancient japanese words?

I was wondering if a whole song could be translated from romaji into english ^^'. (I can't find the translation for this anywhere!). If someone has it or if it can be translated, would be really really really helpful!.

Thanks a lot.

@-taikun-
Might take a while for me to get to, but I'm sure someone will help. :o

@piglet
1. Cup
2. Internet
3. Switch
4. Match
5. Stapler (derived from 'hotchkiss')
6. Ticket

I'm not sure if there are any romaji dictionaries. There are a lot of kana dictionaries online, so if you know kana (hiragana and katakana) that would be 100x more helpful than romaji.

@Karuzo
1. Destiny, fate
2. It could mean a number of things, but for FF 'crystal' is the likely answer.

*for taikobo:

before winter comes,
don't cry and walk on
before winter comes
Iyasanakucha (i don't know what this is)

you're a wild forest
I get to lie on the grass and love

Saying 'no' is fine
if we stopped being friends
saying no is fine
must be kindness, a double-edged kiss

goodbye, day of summer
the days when we played come/lazy days come
go home to the city i return to

why is it that
the person who comes on the street seems to have a tired face

Saying 'no' is fine
don't finish it perfectly
the strength to say NO...
i like it that even the crooked path is for the greatest good.

in your scent
even if i won't return and we don't meet
the star that has been taught remains in my chest. (what the?)

before winter comes
don't cry and walk on
before winter comes
---- (i don't know what Iyasanakucha is)

Farewll, day of summer
the day when we played comes
in the city where i am returning
i live stronger and stronger

NOTE: I am just a friggin' amature, and i think i have made a lot of mistakes in translating the song.
this is a very rough translation, and i have also no idea about which person (the persona or the addressee) does most of the stated actions in the song.SORRY!

Aha, great translation! Also, I totally forgot about that dictionary as well. Hmm, I'll ask around at school tomorrow about 'iyasanakucha' .. 'iyasa naku cha'? Ahh, we'll get to it eventually, right? :P

@taikobo

Helinox made some mistakes, so here's my translation of the song:

Even Though I Should Say NO by Michie Tomizawa

Before winter comes
I'll walk without crying
Before winter comes
I have to heal

You're a wild forest
Blown by the grass, I fell in love

Even though I should say NO
If it's going stop at just friends
Even though I should say NO
Kindness is just a double-edged kiss

Goodbye summer days
The days when I played go by
I'll return to the city that wants me

Why is it that
The people going by on the street seemed to have tired faces

Even though I should say NO
Don't run after perfection
The strenth to say NO!
I like that irregularity is more natural

Even if I can never meet
Your scent again
The star that was taught me will remain in my heart

Before winter comes
I'll walk without crying
Before winter comes
I have to heal

Goodbye summer days
The days when I played go by
In the city that wants me
I will keep on living strongly, strongly

I know it's an artist's name, but I haven't a clue which one. :/ Can someone please put it into romanji?

@mewsie
I'm not completely sure, but taking the onyomi I'd say that 卑呂枝 translates as "Hiroshi".

i'm currently making a song, and i was planning to put the chorus in
japanese. may i have a little hand form you guys?

here it is:

if i could turn back the time
i would change what i've done
with the path that i've taken
i could have gone...
closer to you.
now that i look in every corner
it was i who was irresponsible
now that everything's gone
i want to get...
closer to you.

i hope it's not heavy!

^^ Well I merely copied and pasted what the site had, next to the song (note: I already knew the artist for the other two songs on the cd as her name is listed in english/romanji next to the titles.) but I trust your translation of it. Thank you.
