@princess cookie:
then MAKE it blink :o
use the clone tool or brush tool to cover the eyes and everything. o.o
and edit it a little. :o

but it'll be painless for you if the .gif you found already has a linking pic :o

@dfchii: :o oh, that's a jpg? dun dun~
well, since it's smaller, isn't it reasonable for the size to be smaller than the original? ^^"
some pictures can have even smaller sizes if it's saved in .gif
[at least in my works o.o]

@ dragonfly

did the small file size affect your quality?
I think it's beneficial to have that kind of file size, as long as it doesn't distort the quality.

@ princess cookie

yep, edit the eyes by brush or something, like I said, you have to do it manually ^^

Try using the "help" in your Photoshop, although that feature would most likely be the best for Photshop CS.2: Upgrade version or Photshop CS.3.
I always use a "10" quality when saving images and stuff.

Also, about the blinking thing, it depends on what image you use really.
Try to get an image that doesn't have as much hair, or whatever else, getting in the way of the eyes...
Although, you could always try a challenge?
I've done one or two before, it just takes a long time with all the detailed work.

What Maia-hime suggests, is also an "easier" option.
Although depending on how you'll save it in the end, the file size can be even larger then the orginal 100x100px avatar that you found.
It also depends on the signature's size as well, since one user can only have as much as 100 kbs per avatar/signature combo.

um, im sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but how would i put a picture from my digital camera to edit on photoshop?

Re: Photoshop Question and Answer thread

Aw, that's easy. Follow these steps:
  • Turn on your camera and insert your USB cord
  • Go to "My Computer" > whatever drive your pictures are located one > open the folder
  • You can either move the picture to another folder so you don't need to USB cord or right click > edit in photoshop
  • Do whatever you want with it in Photoshop, and you're done
Just to let you know, the third step is optional. I do it so I don't need to plug in my USB cord everytime to use the pic...

you can't extract it and automatically remove the text. :o
you may have to re-CG it --pretty much vectoring, yehp yehp ^^

yup actually you really need to rip of the whole
pic. Like Danchou said, you can vector it or go
the hard way..leave the main image by erasing the
whole BG and leaving the target image xP

@aolas: PSCS3 Extended has support for 3d and uses better algorithms for vanishing point

about that pic.. firstly you should crop out the main characters (don't mind the text for now.. any thing covering them should stay only the bg to be removed) that way you have less work to do in vectoring as you just need to vector the covered up parts..

if you like I would happily do a vector but you should do me a favor by extracting the bg and I'll do the fixing up ^^;

I am a Nanatsuiro drops fan too ^^ but of the original game.. the anime is nice but not like the game (ps2 one is a bit better)

dfly irrashai!

pressure using pen tool? when stroking paths?
check your brush settings, in shape dynamics, make minimum diameter to 0 px

try using a bigger brush(sampled sizes are best), maybe it' just you don't notice it in small brush but 3px is already suitable

/from http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2007/03/whats_unique_to.html

What's unique to Photoshop Extended?

I'm often asked what features of the CS3 release are unique to Photoshop Extended. This edition starts with all the capabilities of Photoshop CS3* and extends them (hence the name) with the following:

  1. Opening/placing 3D files (specifically .3DS (Max), .OBJ (Maya), .U3D (Acrobat 3D), Collada, and KMZ (Google Earth), then adjusting their view options (rotation, camera parameters, render mode, cross section, etc.).  Animation data in these files is preserved.  Photoshop does not include 3D modeling tools, but it is possible to turn planar geometry from Vanishing Point into a simple 3D model or 3D layer.

  2. Painting directly on the textures of 3D files & updating the models.  (I'll try to post or at least link to a demo of this working as it makes things clearer.)

  3. Opening/placing video files (essentially anything that QuickTime supports) and image sequences, treating these as video layers that you can scrub back and forth and on which you can paint, erase, run filters, etc. Some details:
    • PS Extended includes a revised Animation palette, more consistent with what you find in After Effects.
    • Basic GIF-style frame animation is in both Photoshop and Photoshop Extended, as it was in CS2. In Extended you can toggle the mode of the Animation palette between frame mode & timeline mode.
    • PS Extended features new a Render Video dialog that lets you render files in whatever formats QuickTime supports, or as image sequences.  If you have Flash 8 Professional or Flash CS3 Professional, the video export list includes FLV.
    • The "frame offset" option in the new Clone Source palette makes it possible to clone/heal from one point in time to another and is unique to Extended, whereas the rest of the palette is the same in both editions.
    • The ability to import video frames as layers is in both editions of Photoshop CS3, because it was previously in ImageReady.

  4. Support for painting and layers in 32-bit/HDR files.  Merge to HDR is enhanced in both editions, as is basic HDR editing (e.g. using Levels).  The rationale for dividing the HDR enhancements is that the photography-centric parts appear in both editions, whereas the aspects geared towards film, 3D, and technical work are in Extended only.

  5. MATLAB integration: It's possible to access Photoshop CS3 Extended directly from the MATLAB
command prompt in order to grab image data from Photoshop, use
MATLAB to run different image processing routines, and then return the image data to
    Photoshop to view the results.

  6. Measurement & counting tools: Photoshop Extended makes it possible to set a scale for the image (e.g. 512 pixels = 30cm), then take measurements of selections and rulers.
    • This includes tools inside Vanishing Point for taking measurements in perspective.
    • Measurement scale is specified via the Analysis menu, which is unique to Extended.
    • The Count Tool (nothing to do with this guy) is a simple but effective way to annotate an image (e.g. while counting blood cells)

  7. DICOM format support, enabling the app to open files from medical imaging devices (CT scans, X-rays, etc.).

  8. Image stack analytical filters, which make it possible to stack multiple images into a single Smart Object, then run a filter across the range of images.  For example, an astro photographer might take a range of high-ISO images, then run Mean or Median across the range.  (It also makes for a great "disappearing tourist" demo...)

WOAH~ video export +____+
