We limit signatures to 100px because when they start getting bigger they take up unnecessary amounts of space between posts on the forum and can become annoying and make the forum hard to read. |

I notice then you view the "alt", I think it's called, of the forum titles on the home forum page it says things like anime=1 and physics=2. Are these the order of the birth if the various forums? BTW what were the very first anime threads? Did you start them? |

| I have a question...when it comes to post management, I notice that every post ever made is still on here and can be viewed by anyone if they search for it. However, I've noticed other forums such as gamespot/gamefaqs delete posts every 30 days or to some extent. So, I was wondering...if you do keep all posts ever created, will that have an impact on memory or cost for running the site? Thanks |

storing forum information in the database is very inexpensive, as HDD space is cheap. however, searching becomes more difficult (time consuming). right now, forum searches only match the thread title, which reduces the complexity of the search.

Also, I don't know about other forums, but deleted threads and posts aren't removed from the database. They just don't show up any more. The data is still there. |

I see...thanks for the responses Another question...for those that have been here since the beginning of this website or just for awhile, did you expect the number of registered users to ever be so high? I still remember back in 2004 when I first registered (my registration date on my profile was changed when I changed my nickname, but that's not important), there was a point where the website reached 100,000 registered users which I thought was pretty amazing. A lot has really changed though...I probably only recall a few users since my last visits on the forums about a year ago, but it's cool to see so many new people ^_^ |

good question. the lyrics page is not for embedding anime pictures. however, if the image is somehow necessary for full understanding of the lyrics, it is acceptable to put it on the lyrics page. for example, if the kanji transliteration has not been produced yet, you might link an image of the cd jacket with the text so that someone it can be read and referred to, until a transliteration becomes available.
