That is the basic lay-out of the categories. I used your list as a reference mainly (since yours seemed to be a compilation of the suggestions and such). Can I get a few people to try this out? This site doesn't look too bad for the polling system. It limits votes to 1 per IP address (It also allows for IP logging, but that's a bit much), keeps the results private so users can't see them even after voting and other such options. The only downside to doing things this way is it's not tied to people's member accounts, but I really really don't want to flood the Gendou Polls with these topics, so this is the only option. |

So are these the final awards lay-out, or just what you personally want to use? OH, and about the Graphic Design thing, not sure, but honestly I don't see an activeness with the regular members I'd nominate anyways. I can't even nominate myself since I haven't used Photoshop or made new stuff in a long time. Maybe the next Awards we can make it come back, not sure about this time though.

@Haseo - Any Anime or Manga, doesn't matter if it's available for download or not. The last two times we had the awards night I believe Naruto and Haruhi won respectively. @Ray - Good to hear.    |

Sounds like some nice cataegories we got goin on. There's one I don't understand though: that being the "Favorite Anime/Manga on Gendou.com" one. I just don't really understand what it gets at. Does it mean theanime you can download, or the anime/manga being discussed in the forum?

Here's a tentative list of the categories. I'm trying to limit them for the time being until I get a voting system worked out. I tried to use the word 'Favorite' more than 'Best' for some reason, seems like a better term to use. Member of the Year of the year awards are separated into Chat and Forum, I don't think an overall member of the year is really needed because people would probably expect either the Forum or Chat MOTY to be the overall MOTY. If you have any suggestions or questions just post them up. I'm now gone to hunt down a voting solution. Also, I think I'm going to use this night to hand out a few honorary awards that were never handed out (either because the Awards Night wasn't going on or the award wouldn't require voting). The honorary awards will be handed out whenever somebody accomplishes it, an example being the 10k Club, I'd like to have something done up for DA, Kay and myself and then give out the award whenever somebody reaches it (because there are 3 or 4 people I know of that are getting there). Any comments on this idea are welcome as well, such as what accomplishments could be honorary award worthy. Forum --------------- Forum Member of the Year (Open to any regular member, Forum/Chat Moderator's are excluded.) Favorite RP of the Year (Open to any RP, regardless of posts or creation date.) Favorite Anime/Manga on Gendou.com Favorite Club Chat -------------- Chat Member of the Year (Open to any regular member, Forum/Chat Moderator's are excluded.) Favorite Radio DJ Funniest Chat Member Most Social Chat Member Website ------------ Moderator of the Year (Open to Forum and/or Chat Moderator's only) Favorite New Member (Limited to members that have registered within the past year. January 1st, 2009 to January 2010.) Favorite Oldie (Limited to members that have been registered for a minimum of 3 years.) Favorite New Feature (Nominee's for this category are pre-chosen.) Best Avatar (Any avatar that is currently in use by it's respective member. As seen on each member's profile page.) |

So, what's the time table looking like? I saw DA threw up some categories, and set them up in a pretty good way. Having Member of the year and stuff as the 'main event' is a must. @ Haseo - DA — I shall be the one to stand ontop of that mountain at the end. @jon what about those people in Avy x Sig? i think that thread is quite...active, but of course, not as active as back then... mostly people use either chat or pm for requesting avy and sig anyways... @dangel oh i see...pretty much makes sense that way. XD |

@DA - Not sure about the Graphic Designer thing, I don't really think there is an active group of artists around here anymore, is there? @Haseo - There won't be a vote on which categories to include. I have tomorrow off, so I'm going to use that time to put together a basic list of categories and possibly hunt around for a website to use for the polling. @Kay - It has been a while, I was pretty inactive for a good portion of the year, plus the last awards night didn't have that big of a turnout. |

It doesn't even necessarily even have to use that type of information. I mean a new member that's become a part of the forums and whatnot and has been active to some degree. Now that there's confusion, I'm not even going to use "newbie" anymore, but something like 'new member'. There are members that have been here even longer than me, yet haven't ever been to the forums. Then they start posting, trying to get involved with the forums, making some friends with regulars, that'd be a nice nomination. It really depends on what Jon decides, I mean I only listed categories to start, but that'd be a nice new award to choose.

[@Jon] Oh nice, I knew I was a part of the last one, but I forget the results. Some categories like best wedding or couple are totally like obsolete now because of the members. I kinda of miss the old days for that. And yeah, having only avatar as a category would be best, since it's better and more focused on a certain point. Are we going to do one avatar chosen for a user or the ones they make in general? Though not to fuse it in too much so it gets to be something smaller than the Best Graphic Designer or whatever. *sigh* it seems everyone wants to over take me in something these days… XD [@Haseo] Don't misinterpret. I didn't say "n00b". I said "newbie", which is totally different. I even had in parenthesis "new member", meaning a new member that recently joined the forum and is active and whatnot. I knew it would cause a slight misunderstanding to those who didn't know the difference. I don't want to bring negativity into this, I'm not that type of person. Maybe called it a "Rookie Gendou.com Member" award or something if it'll lessen the misunderstanding.

@Haseo - The thing about that category is, how to you define a noob? Level, post count, sign-up date? If you go by sign-up date then how long exactly does one need to be a member here before no longer being a noob? It's kind of hard to pin down. The other thing is, there cannot be any negative categories in these awards night, and something like Most Frustrating Noob would mostly be seen as negative. Whomever gets an award like that would most likely be offended, and that could lead to trouble with Gendou. I'll take a look through DA's list later tonight after I get back from work. |

@DA & Jon: I don't think I'll ever be able to overcome your post counts lol. I just became active in forums in about July and I only have about 1300 posts. I still have tons posts to go before I can beat you guys lol. And about the favorite noob category DA mentioned. I don't think anyone has a FAVORITE noob lol. I think the category should go along the lines of you pick the noob that frustrated the most. There could be one for both forum and chat, or just Gendou as a whole. But that might be offencive to some so it's up to you guys.
