Etto... What is salak?! hmm...how do i put this? I can't explain it...sorry...but, why not try to visit the country that sell those fruit? It taste not so bad...and it's easy to eat...because the seed is so big...so it's like avocado, big seed in the middle of fruit flesh... Wow...fhilippines languages...but, sorry...i didn't understand those languages^^  |

Salak (Salacca zalacca) is a species of palm tree (family Arecaceae) native to Indonesia and Malaysia. It is a very short-stemmed palm, with leaves up to 6m long; each leaf has a 2m long petiole with spines up to 15cm long, and numerous leaflets. The fruit grow in clusters at the base of the palm, and are also known as snake fruit due to the reddish-brown scaly skin. They are about the size and shape of a ripe fig, with a distinct tip. The pulp is edible. The fruit can be peeled by pinching the tip which should cause the skin to slough off so it can be pulled away. The fruit inside consists of three lobes, each containing a large inedible seed. The lobes resemble, and have the consistency of, large peeled garlic cloves. The taste is usually sweet and acidic, but its apple-like texture can vary from very dry and crumbly (salak pondoh from Yogyakarta) to moist and crunchy (salak Bali).  It's kinda familiar.. hmm. :D  |

yey, more people posting!! i'm pretty busy lately, so fruit pic is postponed at a later time. sorry. and because hiroki/tsu found out the name of the fruit because of the name of the image's address (yeah, again, thanks to my carelessness and very ingenious stupidity), his win is forfeited. well, at least the fruit guessing game (regardless how fail it was) did excite some of us. XD and yeah. i'll tell darky to post already. zero oh, indonesia. sorry. from what i've read from the site where i found the fruit, salak is grown in thailand. so i thought you were from thailand. does the fruit also grow in indonesia? i'm actually not familiar with the said fruit. just came across it through random google search. XDDDD no. i meant thailand. well, thailand was my report in my majors [history of the press]. not the fruit. LOL. i'd rather report the fruit than the history of press of thailand. >.< alvistir i actually have no idea from where people here come from (well, aside of course for some fellow people here from my country). if you did mention it before, most probably i'll forget. haha. I suggest seedless grapes? eat it like royalty xD It's hassle free!! But I really prefer peaches, the ones on the cans XD As long as it's bite-sized, and has no seeds or anything you need to spew out or even requiring preparation like removing skin is what I consider relaxing xD Okay I'll start making a move on to revive this group... someday xD

^ Bananas? You should eat them, especially after working out or maybe playing sports. It is a nice source of potassium that helps muscles recover (I read) Monkeys/Gorilla recall from bananas? Well it is one of the common stuff monkeys eat when they are domesticated =3="

Its precise natural distribution is uncertain due to extensive cultivation, but is thought to be in southern Asia, between Syria, northern India, and southern and central China, and possibly also southeastern Europe though more likely introduced there. It is a small deciduous tree or shrub reaching a height of 5-10 m, usually with thorny branches. The leaves are shiny-green, ovate-acute, 2-7 cm long and 1-3 cm broad, with three conspicuous veins at the base, and a finely toothed margin. The flowers are small, 5 mm diameter, with five inconspicuous yellowish-green petals. The fruit is an edible oval drupe 1.5-3 cm long; when immature it is smooth-green, with the consistency and taste of an apple, maturing dark red to purplish-black and eventually wrinkled, looking like a small date. that is the problem of the fruits guessing game. it is unfair for those who are not familiar with a certain fruit being guessed. most of the time, the person who guesses the fruit right is someone who is from the place where that fruit is a native of. and i am thinking . . . since not all of us have the ability to make sigs or avys (ouch to that) and i would like everybody to have the chance to let others guess, then let it be that the person who guesses the fruit right is entitled with the right to be the next host of the fruit guessing game. what do you think? but since i am the pioneer of the game, i am exempted. >:D i'm bad when it comes to guessing and scavenger hunts. besides, i only post fruit pics every now and then.
