@Eureka: Ryoko said it right. It is called graphic designer. To be honest, no one is born an artist, or an engineer, or a doctor. We all work hard to get there. All the great manga ka that you know, they don't just become great the first time they publish their work. They have deadlines to meet and family to feed. They had to force themselves to draw and come up with stories.

It sounds painful and torturous but you do get to do what you love to do, for a living. And they prepare you in art school as well. They force you to draw in many different styles. Learn to see things in many ways.

I would recommend taking the basic drawing classes (notices the plural) Once you get the basic down, you can pretty much create anything you want. The rest is practice. Dream up stuff and draw it. It is that simple. One of the exercise I did in my drawing class was to draw what I dreamt. That was an eye-opening exercise for me. I never know I could draw until that point in time.

Remember the saying, "Sucess is 1% inspiration and 99%perspiration." I can say that because, well, I've been there myself. And you can do it too.

@Without You: NICE! lol, luv da kat!

@everyone else (there's too many! I haven't been here for a while! lol Gommen!) GREAT JOB!!! There are actually coloured works now! lol, Awesome!

@Eureka: OMG! I wanted to be a manga-ka too!!! but then... I couldn't even complete ONE manga... they're all abandoned... and I can't speak japanese fluently, let alone write... so... LOL... Graphic Design it is! >()<

(HEY! It's much better than being in Business of Accounting! LOL... still need that GDmn average to scholarship... need a 95...95..95....)

But yes, art classes are good. (never took any... I'm stupid...) I'd recommend life drawing, cuz u learn figure drawing... (again... Iwish I took that... I'm stupid!) And if you're talking vid Games... then it's either Video Game Designer, or 3-D animation... Those are both great choices! ^^

@Without You: I don't know. I've been thinking about becoming an artist, but then I wonder if I will be good enough. I've also thought about being a manga-ka, but I can't write the stories well enough. What art classes do you recommend? I don't know what kind to go into. Also, what do you call the kind of art that has to do with video games? Do you know?

@Eureka: I think as soon as I started reading manga at the age of 12 or so, my personality stops growing. ^__^ I love manga and anime. I live for these stuff. I love all the creativity involved. And, BTW, I took my art class in 94. If you have the time and money, you should take some art classes. I am sure you will be an artist someday so you will probably be taking lots of art classes. :))

@Without You: Wow. Thank you!! Great praise from the master! :D Thank you for the tip about mechanical pencils. I will go shopping one day and pick up a 0.3 and a 0.9 mm. I have my 0.5, and a 0.7 lurking somewhere. (I migh'tve busted it though) I need lead, too. :P And really, you hardly act 33. At all. I figured you were about... 18 or 19 judging by your personality, but I knew you had to be older because you talked about art classes in the 80's or something ><

@Eureka: Now you are making me embarassed. I think I am probably the oldest member here, ever.

As to your comment about improvement. You have seen the artwork I have done from a long time ago. Yes, they looked impressive but they weren't original. I drew them from a photo. I wanted to create something original, something that say something about me. That's why after all these years, I picked up the pen again. I draw because I love to draw. The improvement is an added bonus for me.

IMHO, there is always room for improvement. But a more important thing is that your art need to speak for you when you are not there to speak for yourself. Sort of like a legacy. And, Eureka, your art does just that. So take pride on what you draw and make sure that every stroke has a message for your audience.

@DAngel:Hehee. We must've connected in some cosmic way because when I close my eyes, that's what I see. I had to put it down on paper. It was down with a 0.7mm mechanical pencil.

OH, BTW, I love drawing cat eyes. They are so mysterious and powerful. I happen to be a Leo so I am naturally drawn to feline related stuff. ^__^

BTW, for those of you who draw with mechanical pencil, I recommend have a 0.3mm, 0.5mm, 0.7mm, and 0.9mm mechanical pencil, in your artistic arsenal. 0.3mm is very hard to find but it is great for fine detail work.

@Dangel: LMAO!!! "Woah! How did you know what I looked like? XD" That brought me straight out of depression. That made my day, No! My week!! XDDDD Still, thank you very much. It really does mean alot to me. And, I don't consider my drawings as good. I think "there is always somebody better", then I try to get better than that somebody. Haha, it sounds selfish, I know. But, I have improved drastically. Maybe I will post some of my 2005 drawings sometime, lol. You will want to rip out your eyes when you see them. Or fling poo.... (if you're a monkey, that is)

Without You:: Woah! How did you know what I looked like? XD
Anyways, this is pretty good.
Did you use a pen to draw this Cat Man image or was it drawn using those dark pencils?

Eureka::
@Dangel: Thank you! It means alot to have a respected member like you comment my art!

*snickers*

Well your work is nice so live it up, but improve at the same time.
That's what I told myself until I stopped drawing, lol. oO(^_^)Oo

@Senbonzakura: You are very welcome! I really appreciate your.... appreciation >< It was a fun picture to draw, I'd love to do it again sometime!!

@Without You: You're 33? You hardly act it >< ^^Thank you for the comments on my drawings! For Byakuya (first pic) I used my mechanical pencil for all of it. I was sad though, because I ran out of lead. Luckily I was able to find another mechanical pencil! >< For Haseo (Second) I used a 0.5 mm pen. I fist layed it out with a 2H, though. :P Nice Cat Man!! Haha, it brings a big smile to my face. It's really nice!

@Dangel: Thank you! It means alot to have a respected member like you comment my art!

@Roylover: I love to draw details! :P Very nice Fire Emblem picture!! You do photoshop, too? Wow! Great colouring job!

@Izumo: NO NO NO NO!!! You can't be my fan! >< You are waaay to good! I am YOUR fan!! *praises Izumo* *kisses Izu-kun's shoes*

@Kanayuki: Nice drawings! I think they would have looked nicer on plain paper, but who am I to say so? I think that the second picture is completely adorable!~!!!!! *heart*

@Ich: I can't wait to see your newest!! :P

@Korento: Thank you very much!! I love your style of drawing! I think on the first picture her thighs are a little thick... You know what? No. It is fine! YORUICHI!!! *steals* I love Yoruichi! >< And you're only 16? Amazing!

@Dragonfly: O__O!! It looks even better finished!! Great job!! I love the colours that you chose! I love everything about it!! (reminds me of a mix of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, [Bleach] and a Tim Burton movie.)

@Mikoto: WELCOME TO THIS THREEEAAAD!!! *does welcome dance* Great hunter picture! And what a dynamic pose!! Hey, cool DBZ pic! I like the original Dragon Ball better, but hey. You did a great job! *sings... Dragon Dragon Ball.. Dragon Ball ZZ!!*

@korento: Very nice design again. I just love the full length character. Again, very original. And again, inspirational. Your art is so inspiring, I made up something of my own as well. Nowhere near as good as yours but it is something I thought looked pretty cool.

@Mikoto: Very nice drawing. Thanks for sharing.

@Dragonfly: It is a very interesting and artistic painting you did. I can see there are many layers of images. This is definitely a work of art. Can you elaborate on it a little bit? I want to know what you think of your work.

Here is my character design I called "Cat man". Sorry, no full body sketch yet. This one is drawn with 0.7mm mechanical pencil. And oh, I made this drawing up entirely by myself.

@Korento:I can view your pics at work because of firewall but I will comment on them tonight when I get home.

@Kana: Here are my comment on your artwork:
Pro: You got the basic elements down for character drawing. That means the head, body, proportion, clothing, and facial expression. You even drew your characters in different views. Your skill level is probably above 95% of the population. Most people can't draw a straight line to save their lives.(exegeration, I know) >__<

Con:
The overall look of the drawing is good. There is a message there. You just need to work on the finer detail. It could be as simple as having a darker outline. Use of various pressure on your pencil can create great number of variety of looks and feels.

Go to the anime request gallery to see some examples of lineart character drawing.

Keep at it. Glad to see you post here.

Thanks for your nice comments! :)

Izumo: Thank you very much. Actually I've posted here once before, but it was only a link to my DA-gallery (I didn't know how to add pictures to my post back then :D). Ragnarok? O.o Do they really? :D I can't say 'cos I haven't read it...^^

Roylover: Well, I use colored pencils for coloring, but I don't think I can handle it that well. But I hope I'll get better at it. I want Prisma colors but they don sell them in Finland :/. Haha, I guess her neck is a bit thick! :D Luckily I can still fix it. Thanks very much for the useful comment!
...
This picture is awesome, too! Great expressions and that hair! God! I could die for it. And don't worry about bg, it's just fine. Besides I'm much lazier than you when it comes to bg:s. :D I hardly never draw background...

Dangel: Thanks! ^^

Without You: Good to hear that! It's nice to hear that my art make people feel something and give inspiration. Thank you very much. :)

Roqstar14: Thank you very much! Actually I've been lurking there already. I'm wondering if I should request the character designer position or not. I would really like it but I work soooooooo slow. x____x

ICH: Thanks for the comment! And I bet you'll be better than me in no-time. Besides, I don't think I'm good enough to be looked forward to xD.
...
I love your Belldandy. I've always loved her design and you caught her very well. ^^ I'll wait for the scanned version for the details. :)

Pappy: Thank you! My style changes from time to time, even if I don't want it to. :D

Eureka: Thanks for your comment. :)
...
Whoa! It's Byakuya-sama! Very cool, indeed. He's one of my favorite characters in Bleach. Byakyua is teh sexynessss. :P
The other pic is great, too. I like the clothes and pose very much!

K. Kanayuki: Those are very cheerful pictures! :) I like that green paper. I can see you have many ideas in your head so go on drawing and you'll be a super-good manga artist in a blink of an eye. ^^

---

And now for some more pictures:

Another character design. I was too lazy to post her earlier. :D Her name is Amira, and she's a bit younger than Pandora.
... How can she even lift that huge hammer-thing? O.o xD

Omigosh! It's Yoruichi from Bleach! Coloring took about 6 hours. I'm so slow. *dies* My scanner seems to be a racist. It made her skin look sooo much paler than it really is! >:O
Sorry for the watermark...

And for Eureka's challenge; I'm sixteen, too. :D

@ Cerestial

Holy bejesus O.O!!! That is another awesome pic!...i agree with the negative photo comparison....it looks like it was done with chalk on a board...impressive!

@ Ich-san

There is no shame in being a photo-artist....it is how doujin creators get started...which i can see you doing...in fact the "Lets make a manga" thread is a nice start. Being a fan artist i think is a good approach....is originality a good thing...of course but it does have its negatives...coming up with the ideas do take a long time.....believe me i know!

1: Why didn't you add BG to your pics before...the Kakashi pic was the first to show off your imagination....backgrounds are mostly visual & anything added to a pic can make all the difference...

2: The pic of Bell is absolutely fine...i can still see all the detail & work done on her....great pic...i feel heavenly looking at it...maybe cause she's such a beautiful character which you definitely did justice to.

@ Korento

Welcome to the thread....i believe this is our first time here is it not...if not....sorry i never noticed you before...*bows*
I should cause those are just awesome character designs...looks like something out Ragnarok....nice fantasy style clothing & detail for each character. Look forward to more of your creations.

@ Eureka

i already commented on Haseo....the pic of kuchiki like Ich-san said is awesome....i just simply love your artwork....which is why i'm a proud member of the Eureka fanclub....still waiting my membership card in the mail ^____^!!!!

*i'm 27 if you wanna know....*

@ Ness9411

Welcome to the thread!!!! *bows* Wow!! really good art you have there....love your Winry!! All of them are pretty good for a 12 year old....good job! ^___^! please show us more!!!

Yeah...just follow Raylovers...description of posting thumbnails...or just add the "height" & "width" changes to your url...eg. < img height="600px" width="500px" src...etc... > the number can be anything.....but i think 400 x 600 is adequete.

@ Raylover

You're welcome! Whoa...we have another photoshop user in our midst....nicely done....good use of color....shading...effects....overall a great pic!!!

@ Izumo - Thanks for the welcome!

@ Eureka - Thanks! I'll do more Prisma pencils, but my sibling is warning me not to use it so much. Doing a picture like that takes a lot of led out of the pencils. And, true, Roxas teeth make him look rather vicious. And in your second post, the two pictures you put up are rather nice indeed. I like how you work with details. I'm always very lazy with it.

@ Pappy - Oh, I know. I did something like that back in middle school. It was hard. Thanks for the comment. Color pencils aren't too hard after you get the hang of it.

@ Cerestial - I'll probably do more. It's fun to use that medium. However, it isn't as hard as you make it sound. And that drawing is very nice, I must say. Neat!

@ Without You - They really are of primary colors. XD It's just how they are designed. I just work with the colors. Well, they look older than they really are. I was aiming for the sequel look they get in the upcoming game (which is around 17-19 years old).

@ Ich - Oh, well, that's something I find difficult. I think it's more that I'm lazy to do it rather than I'm unable to do it. Anyways, by how you sketched everything, you did well to show what you want to show. Good job! On your second post, you did a very nice job on copying that one Belldandy picture. Many artists find it hard to copy others work, but it's very important on copying others work because you get the hang of that certain artist's style. Kudos to you!

@ Korento - Thanks! Really, color pencils aren't too hard to use once you get to know how to use it. Oh, and I love your style. It's elegant and rather realistic, too! The only thing that I find strange is Pandora's neck. It's a bit thick for a girl since, from the looks of it, she is a fine lady who doesn't really have a strong build. Over all, beautiful work here!

@ Rea - Thanks for dropping by! :D

@ Roq - Thanks for the welcoming and comment! I'm all about setup and emotions when it comes to doing my art.

@ Dangel - Thanks! It's just how I work...I like to make things rather dynamic.

@ Ness9411 - You just use html codes to display them.
eg. < img src= " YOUR LINK " alt= " NAME OF PICTURE " >
To display the link...
< a href= " YOUR LINK " > TITLE OF YOUR PICTURE < /a >
Easy as that. ^_^...and of course, without spaces.

-----------------------------

Let Me Help You
Another Sothe and Tormod of Fire Emblem, but, this time, they're younger. I did this in Photoshop and it probably took me about 4-5 hours to color it. As you can see, the lineart of the picture isn't really...all that well done. However, it was one of those sketchy outlines, good coloring pictures. Also, I'm very lazy with backgrounds. Thus, why the background is so...lame.
