@Maiku - That's not really a big deal, I only paid $18 for it after discount. Plus, I would rather try the first game to find out if I like it rather than pay $70 for WKC2 just to try it. I'm glad you're willing to play it with me, but don't worry too much about being during finals. I don't think I'll be leveled up enough for the online portion as soon as the PSN goes back up. I would probably be willing to wait (or hold off on a lot of the quests) until you and others are available. @DA - I would be trading it in at EBGames, since that's where I work. Less hassle that way. Someone I know might be buying it off of me for $30, but if I did trade it in then I would currently get $28 for it. It's still a good deal when you think about it. You still have a copy of the game for Steam which you can play with anyone who still has the PS3 copy, so you aren't really trading in the game at all when you think about it. I'm thinking about getting a 4GB XBox 360 as well. I got a little bit of money for my birthday, my financial situation is all sorted out until my next payday (there's only $90 left to pay off on my PS3, which I can easily do when I get paid next), and the 360's are currently on sale for $129.99. I'm only considering it at the moment, just so that I can play some of the games that I can't get for the PS3. The biggest factor in my decision now is the fact that this sale ends on the 12th, and I don't know of any store off hand that does have them in stock (I think Wal-Mart is the only other place that has a similar sale going on). I plan to look around today during my break. And no, this has nothing to do with the PSN being down. I don't think I would ever be willing to pay $70 a year to play games online, considering the fact that I don't play online a whole lot. This is pretty much just another one of Jon's Impulse Buys. If I do get the 360, I will still be buying multiplatform titles on the PS3. There are just a few games on the 360 that I have given up hope on ever seeing come to the PS3, as well as one or two original XBox titles that I want to play (Gunvalkyrie mainly). Anyway, there's only like a 10% chance this will actually happen, since I wouldn't pay $199.99 for it. |

I got Brink today and it's fun, but your AI is annoying as hell. Still figuring out how the object wheel works, testing things out, etc. There's a lot that goes on at once and it's definitely a team based game (probably better online with communication). One thing I'm not digging are there are way too many SMGs. A crazy amount of recoil even with the grip makes it harder to shoot. Although switching between classes is nice, it's harder with the computer AI cause they're like idiots. I'm almost done with the first campaign (there's a choice of two). Doesn't really explain much abut the story though. You pretty much just play the missions and before they start there's a slight cutscene of your teammates. I think I'll get a redeem code for the bonus stuff via e-mail although with PSN being down I still can't dL it anyways. I'm not sure how many players are on each team, but I think it's 7v7 so not sure about a team deathmatch option. Although you can play the entire campaign I think online as well as the challenges (which unlock scopes and silencers, etc.). But yeah I wish there were more assault rifles even if it slightly reduces speed, cause there are too many similar SMGs and when you add scopes and such anyway it slows the equip speed. There's like one sniper (the one in Killzone, Dragonauv or whatever) and the AI whores that out with rapid fire. The shotgun is heavily underpowered, though I guess it'd be fair online since it won't be a 1-shot kill. Sometimes when players go down it's hard to know if they're incapacitated or not cause they can get back up instantly or play possum. Guess whenever PSN is up, people will be deep into their level upgrades. The player customization is neat, the face gear is lacking but waiting to get the cooler ones. The buffs are really fun and once you upgrade the things that need time to reload (grenades, buffs), it makes things a bit quicker to play. [@Jon] Yeah I also kept the steam copy slip that I got from the pre-order. Although playing it on my Macbook would use up a considerable amount of CPU so I'd never play it on Steam anyways but it's good to keep. Personally I wouldn't bother buying a XBOX if you're only gonna play like 2 games. Cause you probably won't get anything if you trade it back, who knows. I'd rather save that money for games (although I use amazon credit from trading in games).

@DA - I pretty much scrapped that idea as soon as I left after making that post. I sort of needed clothes and junk. I also have way too many games to finish as it is. lol |

lol smart man. XD Speaking of games I finished both campaigns for Brink. Not sure what else to do other than to do the rest of the challenges. I also have a lot of stuff I need to unlock for the classes so I'll do the missions. I'm curious to see this game online cause the AI sometimes doesn't want to do what is needed to do and wander off on their own. I wish I can redeem the stuff I got from the pre-order pack as well. The challenges might also be a tad hard as well, cause again the AI are idiots.

I updated my PS3 and tried PSN, but yeah not yet. Not even gonna bother, I just want to sync my trophies anyways. I'll try again tomorrow though I'm waiting when the PSN+ thing starts. Another thing to talk about, trailer of MW3 came out last night, but one thing I don't get is aren't IW and Activision in a lawsuit battle for unpaid wages and the MW franchise? I don't get how they're just rushing into making MW3 right away (most likely to compete with BF3). It would suck for IW if they lost though, but I think they'll win and then Activision and TreyArch are f#cked. QEDIT: Hopped on PSN, synced up but no store for a while.

Good thing PSN is back up, although I haven't tried it out myself due to a few things that happened this week. This past week, my family got a new TV, although now that we got it my Dad wanted a Blu-ray player too. The salesperson mentioned that a PS3 can play Blu-ray, so now the PS3 is out of my room and instead in the family room, hooked up to the new TV. I'll still be able to play it and whatnot, but I probably won't be on much at all until summer break begins for me in June. Anyway, that's my story. As for gaming, currently I'm playing BlazBlue Calamity Trigger, and I think I'll be on that for awhile longer. I'm also going to trade in a few games with Amazon too, some Wii and DS games that I don't play anymore along with Black Ops, since after playing through it a bit I realized that I really just don't like it that much. XD Hopefully, with the credit I'll get from the trade in's, I'll be able to get one or two new games. I'm planning on getting Valkyria Chronicles (Since it looks like they have it in stock), and maybe something else too. ![]() |

*grumble* I'm changing my password and everything, and the e-mail won't arrive until tomorrow. So it's one more day for me. @DA : Still no store? That sucks :/ @Toyumi : You'll enjoy Valkyria Chronicles, it has a nice battle system and storyline and the prices for upgrades aren't too bad either.

[@Toyumi] rofl you JUST found out the PS3 is also a blu-ray DVD player? XD Where did you trade in your games? Honestly for me is amazon unless you work at a real gamestore to get a "discount". ^_^ During the PSN outrage I had BB:CS and I just traded it in right away cause it's like the same exact game. Just got bored with it quick. My next two GF games are The Sly Collection (finally!) and Dante's Inferno (DE). Possibly 4 platinums but I'm hoping to plat all three sly games. [@Yuna] Yeah no store, but when it's back up that's probably when the PSN+ thing starts for everyone. I'm more lenient on waiting for the store to get up as opposed to PSN entirely.

@ DA- No I didn't just find out, I knew that it was a blu-ray player. My Dad was the one who didn't know, and the person who sold us our TV told him. XD And like I said in my last post, I'm going to trade them in with Amazon tomorrow. I know that I won't get as much for them if I trade them in at my local Gamestop. One of them I already tried to trade in at Gamestop already, it's an older DS game and Gamestop would only give me a dollar for it so I kept it, but when I checked the trade in value on Amazon it was $2.25. I'm sure they'll give me better prices than Gamestop for the other games I want to trade in as well. ![]() |

If a game is less than 10 bucks (e.g. UFC2010 that I have) I'll just keep it. Depends on it's replay value though, so that's a type of game I can keep (especially if there's not going to be another one). And yeah you know you can check at amazon to see what prices you'll get for games. You get a receipt sort of that you have to print out and put on the package you're gonna send them back in. You have five days to send them in mostly or print a new slip but it's easy and free with UPS. For me, I think I'm just going to not buy games for a while cause I end up trading them in (Killzone 3, Brink, Portal 2). Since I'm using GF anyways I'll continue to rent as much as I can until I decide to cancel.

For the whole PSN topic, despite getting my stuff straight I haven't sat down to play any Black Ops yet. I haven't touched the game since the outage happened, and before that I hadn't played in 3 weeks. I'm going to be super rusty, rofl. I'm really curious as to what we will get in our welcome back package. Aside from those free 30 days, I know we're getting a couple other goodies, and while it probably won't be anything to get excited about, I am curious. Maybe they'll surprise us and actually give us something that is a fun and enjoyable game? During the outage (or really, near the end of the outage since it was just in the last week and a couple days) I discovered Minecraft. It's a fun little game that can be picked up whenever to play for however long, so the outage wasn't totally without a plus. Really, after the first couple weeks, I almost forgot about the outage. Regardless I'm glad it's back, and articles are circling about Anonymous giving out the information on the Hacker responsible for all the recent sony and square enix attacks, so I hope that's legit and the FBI/Sony make a move on the fellow. |

According to the articles I read, that group "Anonymous" wasn't responsible for the attack on PSN. Although they apparently told CNET that they'd do another attack (that second attack) when PSN was going to go back up online, they didn't. Apparently the real hackers used their name so people would think it was them, which Sony did. I haven't read about them giving out info on the real hacker(s), but that'd be great!! As far as I know, whoever really hacked PSN if it was a group of Anonymous, from what I picked up from reading the articles, they only did it to show people Sony has weak security, which it did. When they were going to put PSN back up after like three weeks, rumor of another attack spread around and Sony kept PSN off again (to further improve security). I also read that Anonymous group members said they weren't responsible for the attack, however it was possible someone from their group did hack PSN without their knowledge. But as far as I know, the main reason for the hack on PSN was to have them improve their security. Although yeah, it was a rough way to do that but at least now PSN is returning to normal. But yeah the servers are gonna be jam packed, PSN was down a bit last night as well. As for the compensation, who knows what. I wish customers could suggest feedback on the store, so we could request more avatars, better games, better themes, etc.

Yeah the news coming out is that Anonymous says it wasn't them, but that a rogue member within the group, codenamed "Ryan," is the one responsible. Anonymous claims that they in no way as a group had anything to do with the attacks, and Ryan acted on his own. This Ryan guy even hacked the Anonymous site, giving out the groups' administrators personal information. Ryan is apparently doing this for his own personal vendetta, and it's kind've sparked a civil war within Anonymous between the senior members and the Ryan guy. So, in the last few days Anonymous posted "Ryan's" real personal information, his name, address, phone number, etc -- in hopes that Sony and the FBI would follow up. I kinda trust Anonymous on this one, too, which is hard to believe. Only because Anonymous has always been about basically protesting. They do their DDoS attacks and other things, but they've never been about stealing people's info and putting it out there for all to see. This Ryan guy has been stealing info and making it public, though, from the PSN, Sony Online Entertainment, and Square Enix. So if it is indeed this Ryan, I hope they get him. As for compensation, It's not even really that big a deal, but I hope whatever the games and stuff are that they are least enjoyable and worth it. Suggesting feedback and stuff is a good idea. |

Wow that's pretty interesting stuff. Whoever it is though, he definitely will get caught and fined/prison time. I don't care about a month of PSN+ (plus addition days since the service was off again), but honestly they should give everyone like PSN money and add it into their account. Even if it's like 10$, cause aside from the PSN+ free month, and the free games which will be free to everyone, there's no real compensation. Cause like I said before PSN+ really gives you no real benefits or real deals.

According to Joystiq, the North American package is as follows: "All PlayStation Network customers can select two PS3 games from the following list. Dead Nation inFAMOUS LittleBigPlanet Super Stardust HD Wipeout HD + Fury For PSP owners, you will be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list. Additional free content will be released soon, including the next addition to the Home Mansion personal space, and Ooblag's Alien Casino, an exclusive game." I'll be getting Wipeout and Super Stardust HD seeing as I already have all the others. I'm looking forward to trying them both. Over all, I find it to be plenty of compensation, especially for those who missed Infamous and LBP. And let's not try to sugar coat a criminal act by saying they were doing it to get Sony to improve their security. That's absolute wonkers. ![]() |

Yeah PSN+ is kinda just a glorified coupon book. When you get the free games that it lets you get, you can't use them when your PSN+ runs out. I'm going to use my 30 days though and see what it's like to actually use it myself, though. 10$ would be cool, but that's something I don't think they would ever do. We'll see what we get, though, hopefully here before the week is up. Edit: I had a feeling LBP would be there. I never picked that or Infamous up, so if those are the games I think I'll pick both of them up. Not bad if those are the ones. Edit2: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/16/details-for-playstation-network-and-qriocity-customer-appreciation-program-in-north-america/ Yep, that's all legit info. Infamous and LBP here I come ~ |

[@Maiku] The weirdest thing, I used to have Wipeout HD now I don't for some reason. Maybe I deleted it. I'll get LBP and SS HD since I recently beat inFamous although Dead Nation has online co-op. Hmm, we'll see. I'm not sugar coating anything, but what did the hack tell Sony, they needed to improve their security and they did. [@Shuy] Games you buy from PSN+ expire? I never heard that before even if they're free. Cause I've gotten some free games from PSN+ and they haven't disappeared (yet anyways...). And you never played inFamous? It's one of the best games and if you're getting it, beat both karma choices fast, and make sure to save a copy of your first run then overwrite it for the other karma choice. Reason being is if you plan on playing inFamous 2, the saves (from what the creators said) carry over!! Unfortunately for me I didn't have the patience to play the entire campaign over again for the hero route, so I only have my evil karma save data but no big deal. Most people deleted their saves anyways, lol! And yeah I never played LBP (well I tried it before but not on my account) so let's play together.

@DA — Yeah, I was told that games you buy that are free PSN+ games, expire when you are no longer a PSN+ member, but if you renew your PSN+ service they can be played again without buying. I believe it means PSN+ exclusive games, and the wiki page says the same thing. and everyone I've talked to says infamous as well. It looks great to play, so I should enjoy that. Totally down to play some LBP, too, I just hope I don't suck, rofl. @JC — I'll probably take advantage of the discounts too, and if there's anything I'd like to get with the discount I'm gonna buy it up during the 30 days. |
