My apologies for being gone for awhile... So what were you guys/gals up to while i was away? *looks at previous posts* Well KM Revolution-san has already answered the age difference between Nagisa & Tomoya so no need to explain there. As for the illusionary world & if the entire series is Tomoya already redoing the events as in collecting 'the light orbs', that is difficult to say cause taht is the only issue i had with the anime version for it was too compressed the last few episodes, which may have caused the confusion about the timeline of the illusionary world events & the events during the series. Like i said before the game feels alot longer when explaining the events after Tomoya 'dies' & the events that happened after. It is hard to explain in detail... |

Didnt Tomoya die with Ushio when she died? Tomoya cried that someone save Ushio, and he like fell down with Ushio dead or something. I wasnt sure though. Obviously, the illusionary world needs discussion here ![]()

WEll i think i can help a bit but if you look closely the [figuratively] illusionary world and the real world is inter-connected or intra-connected Illusonary World is the dream of Tomoya -the illusionary world & if the entire series is Tomoya already redoing the events as in collecting 'the light orbs'- If the VN and that certain episode and the Time line on page 1 is right that serves me right.. its is shown alternately,,,, If i compare the VN it is actually redoing the events interacts with outher characters then you will get the orbs [talk about 300 hrs of game play] if i compare the anime it is the combination of all routes of the characters that is to alter the sad ending if i compare the AS anime, it is actually told in different way AS episode 17-21 is the route for the sad ending or should I say theSad ending in which Ushio sis not want to happen so she traveled back Tomoya in time in the second half of episode 16 and ep 22 is the TRUE ending of the series... *searches the database* the ones in cyan are the points of the characters Ushio Okazaki Voiced by: Satomi Koorogi Ushio is Tomoya and Nagisa's daughter. She only appears in the After Story portion of the game, and in the movie. After giving birth to her, Nagisa dies. This deeply saddens Tomoya to the point he gave up raising Ushio and left her to the care of Akio and Sanae. Tomoya resorts to alcohol and cigarettes to ease depression. Five years later, Sanae arranges Tomoya and Ushio for a trip in hope for them to be together again. During the trip, Tomoya meets his grandmother, Shino and learns about his father's past and the sacrifices he made for Tomoya, which leads him to regret his actions, and decides to raise Ushio and acknowledge Naoyuki as his father. Shortly after Tomoya sets things right, Ushio is struck with the same disease as Nagisa. Despite efforts and sacrifices of Tomoya, Akio and Sanae made, Ushio's fever never subsides but worsen. In the coming winter, being filled with desperation of wanting to do anything for Ushio, Tomoya brings her for a trip, but she falls unconscious and dies shortly after. Wanting to save themselves from this tragic fate, Ushio becomes the girl in the illusionary world. After their doomed attempt of escaping the illusionary world, Ushio asks the garbage doll (Tomoya) to collect the happiness around the city to create a miracle and save Nagisa and themselves. In the movie, after seeing Tomoya so depressed, his father asks his friends to take him to a train station where he meets with Ushio. It's hinted that he will stay with her and not end up like his father. Girl from the Illusionary World Voiced by: Tomoko Kawakami The only human in the illusionary world, a world Tomoya dreams of. She creates a body out of garbage for an unnamed entity only referred to as "Me," so that she will not be alone in the illusionary world. This is Ushio after her death, who had lost her memories. In her edge of death after failing to get away from the illusionary world, Ushio, who had regained her memories, called the garbage doll (Tomoya) to collect the light orbs in order to save themselves for their doomed tragedy. In Clannad's epilogue, she is showed sleeping under a tree where Akio begged for Nagisa's life. Garbage doll Voiced by: Akiko Yajima He has no name, but narrates the situation in the illusionary world seen through Tomoya's dream while referring to himself only as "Me."He had his body created by the girl out of garbage so that he can be with her. The body is about half the girl's height. He can't talk as he is created without a mouth, so relies on body language to communicate with the girl. This is Tomoya himself after his death. Ushio in the edge of death in the ill usion told him to collect light orbs to create a miracle to save Nagisa, Ushio and himself from tragedy. if we look at the other way around the Illusionary world is a Parallel World that Ushio created and Tomoya dreamed that serves as a warning and redemption place to save the ones they loved this is only my opinion though --> |

Just to make it more clear about the age difference with Tomoya & Nagisa. In episode 23 (extra) Nagisa is repeating her 2nd year as a senior while Tomoya (& Sunohara) are entering their 1st year as seniors (how'd that happened is beyond me since they are 'delinquents') but that is another topic of discussion. The beginning of the series (& the game) when Tomoya & Nagisa first met was after episode 23. When Tomoya graduated from being a senior, we all know Nagisa had to repeat another year so it was her 3rd term. Overall Nagisa is a year older than Tomoya. Tomoya & the others like Kyou, Ryou, Sunohara, Kotomi are all the same age. While Tomoyo & Yukine are a year younger than all of them & 2 years younger than Nagisa. ******************* What i think some fans are confused about is whether the Illusionary World took place before the events of the series or after. Whether Tomoya has already travelled back in time to collect the orbs after the girl tells him about it. So if the Illusionary World is the flashbacks or the events of the series the flashbacks? That is the question. What makes this a discussion is Tomoya's vague recollection of the Illusionary World. He recognizes the events in Nagisa's play, the dreams he has of the world, the interest he got from dealing with Kotomi & her parents reasearch of such a world. Describing these means he has already been to the Illusionary World & know what he has to do to save himself & the one he loves. However there are things that contradict this theory. For example the first time he ever hears about the folktale about the lights of happiness is from Yukine when she tells him about it. If he knew about these he wouldn't have been surprised to see one. Also if he was collecting them from the start the events surrounding Nagisa's death wouldn't have happened in the first place. In the game which wasn't shown in the anime is when Kouko was telling Tomoya about Fuko & her condition, without reason he inexplicably lets go of one of the light orbs which returns to Fuko...that is how she wakes up from her coma. My belief is that everthing that Tomoya does during the entire series was out of instinct, there is a part inside of him to do the things he did. Whether he knew about the light orbs originally is still a hotly debated question. I think he did know about them but never realized it...or just plain forgot all about it. Which explains the visions he has. So my theory is that the events of episode 22 (seeing Nagisa again after coming back from the Illusinary World) was Tomoya's 3rd attempt after remembering what he had to do to save his loved ones. Ushio from the Illusionary World reminded him of that....since both her & Tomoya (garbage doll) lost their memories due to what happened to them in another life. Again this is what makes the series & the game so great cause it keeps you guessing & cause for discussions. A story this deep can make one come up with many ideas & theories of what is going on. Of course only the staff at Key know the true story & what is taking place. I read many ideas about the game compared to the anime & for the most part many have their own ideas. So i think any of them can be correct & can be wrong at the same time. *EDIT* Forgot to talk about the 'final' episode (pending if there is a DVD special in the works)....anyways this was definitely a recap episode but the end of the episode had a nice finish to it which explains the end of episode 22 with Fuko & Ushio under the tree. Not much new in the series that we didn't already see, the age difference is cleared up for those who are still confused about that. A little bit is covered about the Illusionary World but still not much...the debate goes on :D Still the scene with Aki coming to urge Nagisa on during the play gave me chills...i almost forgot how powerful & emotional that was! The 'Grandpa' Sunohara was awesome!! Tomoya bascially says how important he is in his life...without him Tomoya would've never met Nagisa in the first place. That is saying alot! The music once again is awesome from the the opening of Nagisa ~Saki no Shita no~ playing to Onaji Takami e to Negai Bashou which have been staples of the anime series when dealing with emotional moments. The hilight of the episode was definitely the end....not much to say about it cause it speaks for itself. To bad we didn't get to see Nagisa (only her voice) but we see why Ushio is seen sleeping under the tree....a nice touch by Key & KyotoAni to include that. |

Well, the recap is actually a proper conclusion of the story, not just some boring retelling. Well done, i'm satisfied with clannad as a whole, in a different way than air. Now i don't really need to watch the movie version do i? |

Saw the finale episode, it was nice. A proper way to finish off Clannad, or one way anyways. It's good to see that a miracle helped Tomoya, a huge miracle, and they can truly live happily ever after. I wish there was more, but Clannad is officially over, right? I've been following this series for over a year and a half, two years, whatever you say, it's truly a masterpiece in its own right and I hope there's still a bit more, some special or OVA, something. Over time though, I'll miss Clannad and its characters and I loved everyone of them. [@Sai] Not really, however it is a bit different than After Story, like Nagisa's death. I thought Nagisa's death in the movie was more sad than the anime version, because Nagisa just passes on quietly, not enough strength to say her last words, but in the movie, she's humming to some soft tune, and says she loves Tomoya before leaving. There's also the part where Tomoya gets reunited with Ushio (or united for the first time I guess), with the help of Sunohara, Kyou, etc. Artwork is different and the seiyus are different, but overall good. I saw the movie way long ago, after the first season ended, so it might've spoiled After Story a bit, but it really didn't, and just had better and more detail involved, but either way it was fine.

I wish there was some kind of sequel to Clannad. Clannad does not need to end. The movie has a unique difference to the series though. Not much spoiling and anything ![]()

Well we know that everyone's living happily every after, and after we know that, I guess we'll soon wander off away from Clannad. The only thing I'd love to see is episodes like the final one for the first season, where Tomoyo had a special episode for herself. I don't think it's fair to the others, and even as invisible as Tomoyo was in the second season, she still has that right to say she had her own episode with her lover.

You know it's gonna be pretty weird yet saddening to know that there won't be any more CLANNAD episodes this week or the weeks after. You get so attached to a series that when it ends it feels like a part of you dies with it....don't know bout any of you guys/gals but that's just my personal feeling. T___T....*sigh* *note* still no word on whether the last DVD release will feature any special OVA episode ala the first series. I'll try to keep you guys/gals updated whether there is or not. @ Xia-san I created a thread about Key's newest game a long time ago...haven't had the time to update it though. I should eventually...just like all Key games the story is pretty interesting so i'm expecting the usual tragic moment & like we debated earlier the often 'recycled' events that for whatever reason works all the time. Here is the link to the thread : ReWrite - Key's 7th project Looking at the personal working on the game i think it'll be alot darker & moodier than past games...when the creator of Higurashi is involved there's no telling what will happen. @ Sai-san The movie was done by the same guys that did the AIR movie way back. As with the AIR movie the CLANNAD one is also compressed into about an hour so alot of material is missing. It focuses mainly on Tomoya & Nagisa...a comparison is if you play the game & got the normal ending. Nagisa dies but they don't show the events that take place after Tomoya & Ushio meet again. What the movie does extremely well (better than the anime) is showing Tomoya's state of mind & depression after losing Nagisa. If you want to see the full story the anime is the way to go...the movie is a nice alternate version. Of course not as epic as the anime but great as a stand alone. ****************************** The thing about the other character getting there own OVA is that the anime for the most part tells their stories already. Fuko & Kotomi's stories are basically complete cause they are stand-alone stories that don't effect the overall events of Tomoya & Nagisa. If there is a Ryou & Kyou one they basically have to re-do the entire series just to compensate for them. Possible but highly unlikely...you never know though so there is always hope. Otherwise fans of theirs will have to live with the game. As for Tomoyo the ending of her scenario left it open for a sequel to be made hence the game Tomoyo After. The OVA special was a compressed version of her scenario in the game. Also the main reason for Tomoyo After to be made was fans were a tad disappointed that unlike AIR & KANON, CLANNAD had no adult material in it whatsoever. So to satsify the perverted fans (myself included :L), Key decide to take argubably the most popular character & make her strip...yeah...that's it bascially! Of course no complaints here!! *********************** Okay for members of the CLANNAD fanclub a gift for sticking with this series to the very end. This took some time but here is a 'Thank You' from me. Some of you may already have these.
