@UTPBS Members - Letting you guys know, I cant post until the story moves forward. One character is sleeping and the other is resting after using a lot of healing magic. I need a minor timeskip at least so that they can 'wake up'. @Zero - I've not quit, in fact, I'm waiting on you. @Roxas - I'll get on that as soon as I can. Enough people have posted to where I can move ahead. Also, you should probably read the update that I'm about to post below. @Zero - You're fighting a losing battle as far as that goes my friend. Despite saying that pretty much all the time, I have only had a handful of people actually PM to say that they are dropping out (and it's usually the RP'ers I know well that bother with it). It's unfortunate to say the least. Waiting for people to post only to later discover that they had no intention to do so is usually what brings about loss of interest in an RP. @Toyumi - It's no big deal. I just kind of thought that you might go that direction. To be honest, you've had your character turn out pretty much entirely different from what I originally expected at the start of the RP. Adele seems to be the most eager out of the trainers in terms of wanting to battle. I originally thought you would play her more as a Professor type (more concerned with studying as opposed to battling, hence why I had Professor Iris take a liking to her). If there is one thing I have to compliment you on as an RP'er, it would be how you are always going against expectations. A stark contrast to me, who is pretty much always playing the same types of character and only changes routine once every year or so. lol @Massacre - I'm hoping to have my characters and the Damocles in space in my next post, so that I can rejoin the main RP cast. Not really sure how I'll explain a military ship sticking with a non-military ship though. @Inx - Welcome back! It certainly has been a long time. I haven't seen you since the 5 Seeds Project. It would be great if you had the opportunity to rejoin the RP'ing community. ----------------------------------------------Updates---------------------------------------------- Under the Pale Blue Sky - Alright, things have slowed down considerably over the past couple of weeks. I think what I'm going to do is break up this RP into an episodic style. This next arc will be the last for UtPBS. I'd like to give the RP some sort of ending, even if it is of the 'To be continued. . .' variety. After UtPBS ends, then I'll start a new RP that will pick up where UtPBS left off (possibly with a brief time skip). At the very least, if that new RP dies before reaching the end of the series as a whole, then there will still be some kind of closure for most of the characters and whatnot. Aside from that, it will give us a chance to clear out all of the RP'ers and characters that are no longer taking part in the RP and (with any luck) provide a starting point for any new people to join in. For the time being, we'll just be concerning ourselves with wrapping up this arc here. That may prove to be a challenge in its own right. Pokemon: To Live and Learn - Not much to report here. Everything is going along at this RP's typical pace. The Lake Syrain Aqua Festival is essentially done with, so now the trainers will be moving on to Syringa Town. I still have to figure out what to do with Team Vanguard next, but I do hope to have a fairly major event take place involving them before the group heads out to sea for Western SÅtÅ.   |

@Jon: My ship sure does not belong to military, but is cooperating with it. Sorta like Martian Successor Nadesico. I guess it's mostly me now holding up the line, so I'll progress the plot soon, though I hope other RPs will start moving soon too. I got pretty interested in Calling of the Seas too, so don't forget to update your characters, I believe Toyumi is waiting for others to finish their characters... or not... As for your idea of moving to sequel with UtPBS, sure, not a bad idea. Also, I guess I could pretty much use this as a moment to upgrade my main character and his profile, or even use someone else there, using my current character as an npc. @Zero: I pretty much have no idea what's going on in Eden and I don't really like to solo, so I hope there will be some plot I can join soon. |

@Roxas Yes, that's right. Used to be such a hard regular with new RPs and joining with my hearts content. Been mostly doing it on Devientart since there is a wider range of possibilities and the art LOL! @Jon Yeah its been age, miss some of the old RPS. @All I haven't really set any ideas in stone yet, since I wanted to try some new things with RPing in here but I'll have to see = u = Possible Theme ( similar to some of my old RPs) - More GODs (Angelic Demonic Warfare) - Virus type / experiment (Meta-Bestia) - Video game multilayer persona   currently CLOSED. @ Inx- Welcome! You know, I also had a Angels vs. Demons type of RP idea awhile back. It would have been a lighthearted RP... But then my computer froze out of nowhere while I tried to write down the idea of it. I only had Google Chrome, iTunes, and the Notepad up, so it was nothing out of the ordinary that could have caused it to freak out. I called it divine intervention and gave up on the idea. XD But if you decide to release an RP with that sort of idea, I would probably join it as long as I'm not too busy. A video game-esque RP is also an interesting idea. @ Jon- Haha, Adele has an interest in both. She wants to study the nature and the relationship between Pokemon and people, so what better way to find out than by bonding with her Pokemon through battles and such? Or at least, that's how I look at it. And thanks! I'm kind of a person who goes against expectations in general; not solely in an RP aspect, but in life as well, if I do say so myself. XD Also, I would be interested in joining a new UtPBS RP. Maybe I'll even use the character that I had for the RP before I had to drop it? Unless she died or something, I forget. Or rather, I don't know since I had to drop it. >.> @ Massacre Town- No, I'm not waiting for the others to finish up their characters, I was a bit busier today than I thought I would be since a few things kind of popped up out of nowhere, so I'm going to start the RP either in the next few hours, or it'll have to wait until tomorrow. Honestly, this angels vs demons theme is getting pretty old already and those RPs die pretty fast. Might as add some originality. Like Angels, allied with Demons against humans in some post-apocalyptic world. Or against zombies or some corrupted humans, cleaning up after apocalypse. That would be fun, though I won't host it myself and pretty much only have vague ideas. |

EDIT: @Toyumi - Really? I could have sworn that most of those chapter RP's died off at chapter 2. I know that Kay's went for quite a bit. Also, good to know that you'll be hanging around for a bit. Finally, I finished my profiles in CotS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @Ray - Sure thing. I'll let you know when/if that comes to pass. @Massacre - Yeah, I'm trying to get the profiles completed as soon as I can, but I've been working every night for the past week, plus I've been having to get up at around 6 in the morning every day in order to give our dog his medicine. Work eases up next week and I also have this Saturday off, so I should be able to get caught up on everything I need to do by then (UtPBS, SRW and CotS). @Toyumi - It would be great to have you back, but I understand your schedule and lack of time. Your character didn't die or anything. I think you left the RP right at the time that the group boarded the Avirian airship in the Usha Anarchy. Fenris' character also didn't board the airship, and his characters ship was docked at the island, so it would be a fairly simple explanation in regards to what happened to your character (she just boarded the boat with everyone else and Fenris' character sailed them back to the mainland). @Emiya - There's a lot I want to do with the RP, but since it's been slowing down recently, I figured the best way to handle it would be to end UtPBS and start a sequel of sorts from scratch. As far as I can see, RP's that have been around for a while tend to shed members a lot quicker and usually die off at some point well before ending. Freshly posted RP's, on the other hand, seem to draw in members in droves for the first little while (people seem to be more attracted to the new RP's as opposed to the ones that are already in progress, and others seem to just want to join new RP's due to the novelty of them being new). Maybe that's one of the problems with the RP's nowadays around here. A lot of us seem to be aiming for the RP to continue on for a long time and build a lot of posts (years ago RP's would regularly hit 1,000+ posts fairly quickly), but with the way the forums have slowed down (particularly the RP section) it may be a better idea to simply have RP's that wrap up after about 200 or so posts and then start them fresh (kind of like a new season of a show). I know people are trying this Chapter method already (with usually poor results), but maybe there are better ways to pull it off than what is being done. I'm going to have to take some time to read up on some of the RP's that have done 'Chapters' and see how they handled. @Inx - A lot of the older RP'ers here do as well. >_> |

@ Jon- Well, I think this year will be better than last year as far as my time schedule goes. And I'll basically be free all summer long. (Although I don't you'll think finish the RP within the next month, right?) And it's good to hear that my character didn't die or anything. Like I said before, if I rejoin the RP then I'll most likely will just be reusing Wren (I remember that I put so much effort into her profile only to have to drop out of UtPBS later >>). As for what you said to Emiya about having RP's end quicker instead of having them going on and on, I agree. Free and Dream was the only RP that I've been in that went above 1,000 posts, and it will most likely will remain as the only RP that I've been in to reach 1,000 posts. It is nice to let RP's go on for longer since you get more development in them, but with the way RP's are now it is a better idea for RP's to wrap things up quicker rather than continuing them out. I know that I'll be doing that with The Calling of the Seas, it's only going to have 4 major arcs so I'm going to try to make it a short RP so it'll actually have an ending. And I really do want the RP to have an actual ending, since it might end up being the last RP that I'm the creator of. I'm not sure whether I'll have the time/effort for creating RP's in college (I'll still try to join and be active in RP's, but I think this might be my last time as an RP creator, at least for awhile). As for chapter RP's, from what I've noticed many of them do well until the 3rd/4th chapter, then they seem to die down a bit after that. But then again, I haven't been a part of too many chapter-based RP's, this is only based on what I manage to notice from the title and such. XD @ All- I'm just waiting a little bit more for a few more people to post in The Calling of the Seas before I post again. Out of the 10 people who joined the RP, 7 posted so far, which I think is pretty good considering that it started almost 2 days ago. I do expect the RP to not move as quickly in the future, but as long as others are posting somewhat frequently and are making the effort to sticking with it then that's good enough for me. |

@John - I like that idea of yours for UTPBS. It's sort of the ending of 'Season 1' and then we can start 'Season 2'. It would be quite practical and effective at removing unnecessary profiles. In fact, I can use it to have a massive fight between Malvin and Sabrac while everyone is running around to blow up stuff. @Toyumi - Whoops, didn't notice we started, I'll post immediately. @Zero - I am so getting old =='. I'm not sure if my post quality will keep up, since I don't see there being a whole lot for my characters to do, but I'll definitely stick with the RP. --------------------------------------Updates-------------------------------------- Pokemon: To Live and Learn - Not really anything to say here. @ Jon- Well, Immortal Machina lasted until it's 3rd chapter, and I've noticed that a few of Mistress' RP's that are chapter-based go until the 4th chapter. But then again, I don't know how long the "average" chapter length is for a chapter-based RP. From what I've noticed going a bit back into the Gendou City forums, it seems that the biggest problem for chapter-based RP's is just getting them off the ground. As for Calling of the Seas, post quality isn't really a big deal at this point in time. I'm just kind of waiting for everyone to finish up whatever they're doing in their battle preparations and for a response from Roxas (Since I can't do much until he posts again), but after that I'll be moving the RP into the nighttime and into the mission in either my next post or the one after that. By then there should be more to post about. XD Also, I meant to post in the Pokemon RP tonight but I was distracted by a certain webcomic (Homestuck is highly addictive >>). I'll be sure to post tomorrow. |

@ Zen- It's nice to see you around again! It certainly has been a long time XD Not much is going on, I guess. I started a new RP 3 weeks or so ago but that's about it, I guess? Or at least, that's it RP-wise. XD @ Calling of the Seas members- My birthday's tomorrow so I won't be able to post, but I'll post to finally get this RP into some action on Sunday. I'm also going to PM Icarael on Sunday to see if he's still in the RP or not, he's the only one that joined but hasn't posted at all since the RP started (And he's been online since it started >>). If he replies that he's not going to be in the RP, then a Carpenter Mate spot will become available (So long as your character is fitting for the spot without any changes to their background, etc.). But again, I have to PM him and see if he's in or not, so no one can take the spot just yet. It's just a heads-up. XD |
