Woah, I got into semifinals xD *shocked* Um... sorry I couldn't post earlier, my internet was acting funny and the electricity at my house was cut off for two days =.= Anyway, just wanted to thank the judges and such. -Judge Josh- Thanks so much for the extensive advice... I'll surely take it into consideration. If I'm honest, I usually have quite a large and capable vocal range but it dithers according to how much I sing, and I had been singing a lot prior to recording. I probably should have been more patient and recorded the song when my voice had recovered. But seriously, thank you so much for the advice! ^^ -Judge Pame- I'm really flattered to hear, from you of all people, that I have huge potential! I thank you so much, that comment really means a lot to me c: I'll definately try and work harder on reaching those high notes ^^ -Judge Benny- Wow! Thank you so much for saying that... I was really startled xD Again, it really means a lot to me for you to say that about my singing ^^ -Guest Judge- ...wow. I was so shocked when I saw that comment of yours xDDD Your comment means a considerable ammount to me, since you're a member of a band. I dream of having my own rock band one day, even though I may not have the voice... Also, your Japanese is really good. It's weird, though because it sounds like two different people are singing this song (and I don't mean the background stuff). At some points, you lose that rich tone in your voice and you sound like a completely different person. It was odd. [Ikutocat] 12/20 Song selection: 3 Technique: 3 Interpretation: 3 Personal Appreciation: 3 Comment: This song is really cute, and I think you have a good voice for it, but you didn't quite get to some of the notes you were reaching for. I think the only thing you really need to work on is breath support. I think you felt that you had more breath behind you, you could really push for some of those higher notes. Also, you have a really nice tone to your voice, so just be sure that you're not losing any of it in an attempt to try to sound Japanese. There were times when I felt like you were pushing your voice too much, though to make up for the fact that it is a really hard song. You have a lot of talent, though so don't give up! [Takkun] 8/10 Song selection: 2 Technique: 2 Interpretation: 2 Personal Appreciation: 2 Comment: You seem to have a little trouble staying on pitch, but this is something you can overcome with practice. I would suggest going back to basics. Maybe try hitting notes on the piano and trying to match the note directly on. Don't move onto the next note until you match the key 100%. If you can, you should record yourself doing this, too so you can keep track of your progress. [Karime] 15/20 Song selection: 4 Technique: 4 Interpretation: 4 Personal Appreciation: 3 Comment: You have a really nice and poweful voice. I really respect that you did a translated version (even though I can't understand a word of it ^^;;). You have amazing control over your range, too. Great job! JUDGE SELECTION: DANIEL JUDGE JOSH Bluii Song Selection: 3 - I think the song fits well for your vocal tamber but is set in a register slightly lower than seems comfortable to you. Technique: 3 - It's as though I'm hearing two different vocalists in this performance. You have a nice vibrato, but your pitch gets off quite a bit. You should rehearse a bit more before submitting finalized products or performing something live. Interpretation: 2 - This song has a particularly light hearted and high spirited feeling to it, but your performance is relatively bland and without emotion. A big contributor to this is that it is set in your lower register and, although you have no problem hitting those lower notes, you don't really get a chance to project and express that feeling when you're singing down there. Then, when the notes get higher, you end up shying away and backing off. Leaving a very flat dynamic. Personal Appreciation: 2 - I like the way you're able to do character changes while singing. It's a nice little technique.Overall Score: 10 Ikutocat Song Selection: 2 - It's like a lullaby, which fits your voice quite well. However, it gets low to the point of it sounding highly uncomfortable for you to sing. Technique: 1 - You get off pitch quite a bit and don't really demonstrate any type of advanced vocal techniques or vibrato at all. I'd suggest working on your breathing quite a bit while singing. It sounds as if you're constantly running out of breath. You can fix this easily enough expanding your stomach rather than chest when you breathe in. Your chest will naturally expand, but people make the mistake of sucking in their gut when they take a deep breath. This cuts your lung capacity in half. Interpretation: 1 - Again, you need to work on your breathing. Once you have that down, you'll that singing in general is easier. And, when singing in general become easier, you're able to concentrate on the little things that make a vocalist great. Personal Appreciation: 1 - You get one for trying. Overall Score: 5 Daniel Song Selection: 4 - You have the upper range and picked a song that allows you to really exploit it. Way to ride with your strengths. Technique: 3 - Nice vibrato and vocal control. You do go flat occasionally but you really hit those high notes with ease. Something that a barritone like me can't manage. Interpretation: 3 - You really go for it without holding back making this a very dynamic performance. I would have liked to hear you back off a bit at times, however. It seems that you're great with the big parts of the song, but you don't really catch the subtle feelings of the lower parts. Personal Appreciation: 3 - You did well but could have done much better. Nice performance!Overall Score: 13 Natsu Yuki Song Selection: 2 - I really don't like this song with your voice. I think you have a nice voice but weren't meant for something harsh like this. That, of course, can change with time and training. Technique: 3 - Your harmonies are very nice and you very rarely go flat. You also choke yourself up a lot. You seem to have no problem projecting, but the way you close your throat off and sing through your nose in your lower register makes it kind of unpleasant. Interpretation: 2 - Again, you close your throat off, cutting off any real dynamic that you could have demonstrated with a few acceptions. Personal Appreciation: 1 - I really didn't like it. You have a nice sense of pitch and harmony. Unfortunately, when all is said and done, you basically hit one of my musical pet peeves. Sorry... Overall Score: 8 Takkun Song Selection: 0 - Bad choice. You picked something too low for you and then didn't even jump up the full octave to hit the right notes. Technique: 0 - Your pitch is way off nerly through the entire song. Until you got to the really high parts of the song, I was convinced that you may be tone deaf, but that's not the case. I'd suggest joining a choir or getting a vocal coach, at any rate. Interpretation: 0 - You have no power at all. This song requires it. To manage that, you have to sing from your diaphragm without holding back. Especially for a song like this. Personal Appreciation: 1 - I'll give you one for trying.Overall Score: 1 Karime Song Selection: 3 - You have a nice voice but I don't particuarly believe that this one was a good choice for you. It's very much rock'n'roll and you're very much classical to the point of being operatic. Technique: 3 - Lots of vibratto. You've got that down. You get a bit pitchy at parts but not so often that most people would notice. Interpretation: 4 - A bit elegant for this song and you don't really capture the one low part of the song, but you still go for it. I'll give you that. Personal Appreciation: 3 - You have a nice voice and a very powerful vibrato. Still... I'd have liked this a lot more if you were to use that vibrato a quarter of the time that you actually did in this performance. You've got chops, just no subtlety at all...Overall Score: 13 JUDGE SELECTION: DANIEL-KARIME JUDGE PAME Bluii Song Selection:2 Technique:2.5 Interpretation:2.5 Personal Appreciation:3 Comment: Where did your energy go? I was expecting a lot more. To be honest, I did not realize there were other voices in the song. That was extremely distracting...for this kind of competition, you should have chosen something that you and only you sing. Ikutocat Song Selection:2.5 Technique:2.5 Interpretation:2.5 Personal Appreciation:3 Comment: Be more confident and enjoy more what you are doing. It sounded plain and boring. If you add more energy and feelings into your voice, it will sound better. Daniel Song Selection:3 Technique:3 Interpretation:3.5 Personal Appreciation:3 Comment: Be careful when you sing high notes, you tend to scream. Relax! There were some notes here and there that were a bit off, so just keep practicing. Natsu Yuki Song Selection:3 Technique:2 Interpretation:3 Personal Appreciation:3 Comment: The harmonies were a nice try, but they were off most of the time :( . Just work on your intonation and you will do better. Takkun Song Selection:1 Technique:1 Interpretation:1 Personal Appreciation:1 Comment: The song did not help you. I am sorry :( but you should have tried something within your range and style maybe? You need a lot of practice with the intonation. If you have a keyboard at home, try playing the notes and following them, it will help you. Karime Song Selection:3.5 Technique:3 Interpretation:3.5 Personal Appreciation: 3.5 Comment: You are brave. This song is not easy. I noticed you changed some of the notes, but you went slightly off, like at the end of the chorus, so practice the changes if you are not going with the original melody. Your tempo was a bit off, the phrasing is fast so try to control your breathing so you can match the melody. You have a nice vibrato, but watch it...it is all over the place.
