@kanayuki: [1]yes~ [2]there are other ones...(I can't list them cause I don't know anything else) [3] Depends... If you're trying to color manga scans that are not cleaned up(color of lines are bit faded, scan has noise(i dunno how to explain)) ..err... firstly make the a layer with the outlines on it..and you should remove the other parts(the tones if you like, and the white parts)..so the layer should only contain the black outline.. Then color! just make sure that the top layer is always the outlines =_= just wait for more info DX ---------------------------------------- @anyone and imp: [not answered yet](Q) What tech do you use in inking drawings? |

@ SMILE What technique do you use in inking your drawings... I gotta know Nowadays I use Photoshop's pen tool to ink them, it might be complicated to use the tool at first but once you get used to it, vector inking would be easy as pie ^^ At your case you might want to start ink your drawings with the use of ink/gel pens, then just scan it into your computer and adjust its brightness/contrast to have that clean look :3 @ Kana Or a harder way to color manga scans is to vectorize them XD but well you can do Rin's way ^^ |

@imp: thanks... Q- what does [Resolution]s actually do? there is 100dpi and whatever.. it also appear in settings of scanners... how does it affect the image? |
Re: Photoshop Question and Answer thread
Resolution affects the image's quality/size, so that means the bigger dpi the bigger the image will be scanned. <- But I'm quite wrong with this, I'm open for corrections ^^ |

My scanner is set to 200 dpi. Whoa~! When I scanned it, it turned out huge~! I think I should lower it to a much smaller number. But can't do the test yet, since my sis is opening the comp upstairs non-stop!! But I have arts to scan, so probably will steal some time to scan and also look for the dpi settings~!! Btw, I did colour some scans. I'm lazy whenever it comes of colouring the hair since it's terrible when I do it, so I only do the face and the eyes. Clothes as well, but not always. I had coloured Maria from Vampire Knight, and Suzaku/Lelouch from Code Geass doujin. I also did coloured one of my art. Hahaha~! Now, whenever I looked at the coloured one, I just laughed. But it's my 1st time doing it, so can be forgiven!

@ kanayuki: try 100dpi ^____,^ yehp~ dpi is dots per inch. the larger it is, the higher the quality and the size [both file and resolution] of the image XD ![]() ![]() m y . L i F E . i . t r a d e . i n . f o r . y o u r . P A i N . |

No wonder. I scanned a page of my text book and wanted to print it according to the size of the text book but it really is large~! Really hard for me for having to adjust it just to make sure it fit to get printed. Hmm~~! Probably 100 dpi~! Or lower~!! I'll try to scan tomolo and see what happens. hey, it's 2:10 a.m. here at my place! Should go to bed~!

lol for me 200dpi is the required size to scan your drawings, so whenever you color your work the quality will look better after ^^ As for scanning my own comics, I use 300dpi for that :D |

::QUESTION:: how do you do the LAYERING? and what is the significance of LAYERING? |
Re: Photoshop Question and Answer thread
how do you do the layering? Layering is one of the basic elements in Photoshop, to do them all you have to do is click Layer > New > Layer, or simple clicking a shortcut button at the Layer window. If you don't have the Layer Window visible you can enable them at Windows > Layers Significance of Layering the importance of layering is to make your work easier and have more effects on it. Layer is self explanatory, they help you with your work BIG time. Example, one layer contains a human head, another layer contains two eyes. If you click layer 1, you can edit the human head without even touching the eyes ^^ Quick Notes: Make sure that your layer is at its organized order! For example, if the human head layer is above the layer with the eyes, the eyes will not be visible, since well, it's covered with the layer above you X3 |

::IMPPY:: ahhhh! gets! second question: when making an art, which brush is easier to use? |
Re: Photoshop Question and Answer thread
Depends. If you prefer cel shading, then use hard brush, but if you prefer soft shading or creating cloud effects, etc...then use an airbrush ^^ |

::IMPPY:: how did you the variations of colors? |
Re: Photoshop Question and Answer thread
Hm...well mostly I rely on the layer effect called, "Multiply" for darker tones, and "Screen" for lighter tones, but in order to take effect that layer must be on top so the layer you want to have shadings with will have effects. I'm not really clear of myself so just refer to this tutorial XD I'm more into showing than saying ^^ |

@ Ich it's just a matter of editing the eyes, for the: 1st frame [eyes open] you might as well skip that. 2nd frame [eyes half open] use the 'color pick' tool to use the color of the skin, then color the upper part of the eye. Don't forget to add the eyelashes again with a brush. 3rd frame [eyes closed] now color the whole part of the eyes except the eyelids so you can add the eyelashes again at the eyelids. 4th frame [eyes half open] just copy paste the 2nd frame 5th frame [eyes open] copy paste the 1st frame |
