Yes, the increase in fan-serive this sesaon has driven some fans away, though someone like me who doesn't really mind it (though I personally find it a bit annoying at times) is still following it as a fan. A third season might be in the making, though I can't really tell, but if so, I hope they cut back on the fan-service and really build and correct the flaws of this anime. It could be better, I believe but I still enjoy it. At first I thought you were talking about something like Maburaho (which isn't very good as well, but personally it's one of my personal favorites all time). ------- |

@ Moggle-san & Xiao-san To go further from what DAngel-san mentioned about Rosario. It is true that some series go overboard with the excess fan service in the show...(Ikkitousen, Kanokon, Sekirei to name a few) however it is just a marketing ploy to attract the intended demographic & that is guys ages late teens to early 20s. As you know the majority of guys think about SEX often...you may disagree now but as you grow older (& get involved in relationships) you'll see what i mean :P...or one can go on being a virgin for the rest of their lives :C Seriously all the fan service is just mindless fun & shouldn't be taken too seriously. As soon as you do i find it ruins the overall purpose of watching these kind of anime series. They are nothing but mindless fun when you wanna spend or should i say 'waste' a few hours. Sure some series are suppose to be taken seriously but shows like Rosario & the others similar aren't. Pure mindless fun...as soon as you go dissecting series like these & finding the faults then there is no point watching them in the first place. Every anime series will have their pluses & minuses, my way of thinking is to enjoy it for what it is, pure fun entertainment. Of course i know everyone is different when they watch particular anime series....and not everyone will have the same opinion. I was involved in one similar in the CLANNAD thread...haven't heard from that particular poster since though. ******************* Moving on. Another visual novel will get an anime adaptation in the new year. I mentioned this before but since it is a romance genre i might as well mention it here. The anime is called Tayutama ~Kiss on my Deity~ & it will debut in Spring 2009. Based on the game of the same name from Lump of Sugar (makers of the vastly popular Nursery Rythme game) it is one of the cutest games i've ever played. I kinda describe it as a cuter version of 'Wagaya no Oinari-sama'...cause the main heroine is also a fox spirit. Probably a mix of Wagaya & maybe Kanokon...although i don't think the ecchi factor will be as high as Kanokon :D! I put the games OP on my profile so you can get a feel for what it will be like. |

Well, dunno, true those things should be just ignored, but i sorta can't. It truly annoys me. I dunno, maybe some people find it attracting, but as for me - i just hate it. I want to ignore it, but well... something like my mind says: "You intend to make me pleased with this pathetic crap? What kind of lowlife do you think i am?!".. well, guess that's my reaction :D Oh, aside from Rosario. I guess i mentioned earlier, but i finished watching Tactical Roar. If anyone else saw it - i'd be glad to discuss it. And i guess i'd hold a position: "Protagonist is a useless idiot"... i mean, he's got some nerve to ignore Tsubasa like this :) |

@ Moggle-san I do know how you feel about that sort of thing in anime series...when the fan service becomes a little too much to ignore. Series like Rosario, Sekirei, Kanokon to name a few don't do much to try to hide them. Maybe since the broadcasts are trying to censor them by covering them with things...in the case of Rosario the bat and/or bear you can't ignore them. I feel if they just left the fan service without adding those it may be easier to ignore or less obvious. The DVD releases removes those 'censorships' so you can try seeing them without them. Isn't that the fundamental basis for harem series. Having a "at first" useless main character but in time as the series goes on he becomes less useless. There is the odd exeption...i still can't stand the guy in Final Approach. He's probably the only character in a harem series i don't really like. Yes even 'that guy' from School Days i find more likable than him. *EDIT* Just found out another ToHeart OVA will be released in April 2009. Based on the game ToHeart Another Days + that was released first as a PS2 version than made into a PC version with all the 'glorious' extras *hint hint*. Also i just posted the PV for Tayutama on my profile...much longer than your usual PV. This shows the characters & what to expect when it is released next spring. Looks good so far...can't wait for it. Makes me wanna install the game again & play it again. So so cute...ummm...minus the mystical creatures. Mashiro-chan (fox girl) is too adorable to pas up!!! |

Come to think of it i haven't seen ovas yet... only tv series of both tohearts. Gotta do it i suppose :) As for useless character... that's not always true. The only part is that he can't find himself a girlfriend. For example protagonists from Lamune, Clannad, Kanon, Saber Marionette, etc... As for those overly fanserviced ones, i just won't watch them probably :) After all, still have to finish watching Monster :) |

[@Izumo] "Yes even 'that guy' from School Days i find more likable than him." Wow, I never knew 'he' had a relative in another series less likable than himself. :O [@Moggle] You mean you've never seen OVAs [in general] yet or a certain OVA [series]? About protagonists having a bit of an issue finding a gf in said anime, I would have a hard time to choose to. I mean make me a main character of an anime where most of the other main characters are mostly female (if not all), and give me certain story lines and scenarios where we bond and develop a relationship where the female side of things imagines it's the first step to something larger. You can see it around forums where fans enjoy seeing the main male character with another female character who isn't the real main character (e.g. Clannad, Tomoyo & Nagisa). Even if I'm lucky enough to have my life as a harem anime, I'd die before I actually choose someone to go out with. Unless you're talking about something like the D.C. series, then I guess that's a different more personal love life. :D ------- |

@DA: What i mean is from ToHeart Ovas i saw none. As for harem animes... well, your example(Clannad) is actually made after a game as you should know and the choices are up to you, so if someone discusses something like "what if" of Tomoya-Tomoyo pairing - they probably only saw the anime. But i gotta admit - the only character that has after story is Nagisa. Come to think of it, most harem visual novels have one main female and four side-main female. Although you can take their route, another one would be considered main one. Some of those main ones even won't appear or have much of a role in the plot, while the main one will most likely have. Well, aside from Nagisa, there are Ayu in Kanon, Nagamori in One, Misuzu in Air... well, usually it all depends on the maker. Type-moon has such characters as well, but they're not so certain, cuz they have quite an unusual system. But still: Saber in Fate/Stay Night, Arcueid in Tsukihime :) The most unusual in that part was Utawarerumono game, as Eruruw's certanly the main character, but the only route follows all characters. Now that i think about it, e-go probably doesn't have main female characters, but there is usually a character, that can be considered as normal end: Judy in Castle Fantasia 2 and Lucy in Men at Work 2... well, can't say for sure, as i only played this two. |

Yeah, I've noticed that to and then by the end of the series it'll come down to really the main [main] female. Reminds me of 'Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de ~ they are my noble masters ~' which I finished a while back. I was anxious to see alternative ending with ALL the female characters since it's the type of relationship-anime we're talking about here. Can't go wrong with Nagisa in Clannad: After Story. Although this second season will revolve around her, she's been my favorite girl from the start (or top three anyways). Actually, if you think about it it's kind of difficult to choose 'one' over all the other girls since they're so special. Seeing them switch from really more of a main, but less involved main characters to side characters completely is rough for fans. >_<` Moving onto another subject, anyone else around here finish Akane-iro yet? Seems like I'm the only one so far. Oh, and sidenote this, if you seasrch "akaneiro" in the search bar the anime thread doesn't come up. I had to use Google.com to help find it, and edited my post since I was still the last one to post on the thread. I've run into this a few times, but it works for some threads, then other's it doesn't. Anybody else experience a bit of the same thing? ------- |

@ DAngel-san Well that character in Final Approach (Ryo Mizuhara) just irks me the wrong way in his treatment of Shizuka. Although he loosens up later in the series his actions just seem to me that he 'doesn't care'. If you've seen the series before i mentioned one scene that really REALLY upset me (& i don't get pissed off easily while watching anime). The scene had Shizuka walking alone in pouring snow, she's cold, lonely & has no umbrella. Her MIB guys offer her one but she refuses...confident that Ryo will come for her. She's hoping/waiting for Ryo to walk with her but when he doesn't show she goes off by herself. She see's a cat also cold so she tries to comfort it. The cat scratches her. She stands by herself...so afraid & crying. That look she has in that scene was heartbreaking. After what seems like forever Ryo FINALLY comes...man i wanted to beat him up so bad...yet Shizuka not angry goes with him cuddling his arm.... I found him more an @$$ than our 'friend' from SchoolDays...probably cause when i was playing the game i was bascially him. That fact kinda lessen my overall dislike for him. Which is why i'm very eager to see what CrossDays has in store for him if any...from what i know so far from the story. The 'main' character is in love with a girl who actually has a crush on 'that guy'...also the main guy develops feelings for Kotonoha but she doesn't share the same feelings cause she's in love with you know who..So it'll be very interesting to see what will happen. Only a month or so before the game comes out. |

@DA: Ever since Shuffle! i've been thinking that japanese should have polygamia(or how was that thing with many wifes called). I mean, in there he ended up with Asa, but Sia said she didn't care about this... He should've just moved to Tenkai and have a harem ending :) @Izumo: As i've mentioned before - he had this girl pushed on him, so wouldn't mind whatever he did. He never asked for her, moreover, was against it as much as he could. It's her problem for never listening to him. Well, a guy must take care of women - that's true no matter the circumstances. As for School Days - i'm still waiting for translation as well as Shuffle's one... Luckly i found unperfected but fairly playable versions of Kanon and Clannad, moreover i still have Heaven's Feel to beat... And come to think of it there's still Nagamori and Shiina in One, as well as Wind and Crescendo, although i haven't started them yet. And Sheryl's left at Men at Work! 2... And i haven't managed to beat Utawarerumono yet... well, in other words - even if there's no SchoolDays or Shuffle translations for a while - i have enough games to finish anyway :D |

[@Izumo] It sounds so familiar, I know I've seen something with a similar title but it's not this anime you're talking about. I also checked if there was an "adult" version of the anime, but none so not that. Anyways, saw a bit of the first episode one day, can't tell for sure until I see more of it, but I guess it could lead to his actions later in the anime. I might check it out, then again not, who knows. With anime getting older with that look to it, I just pass 'em by usually. Take away the game for School Days, who would you say would be worst (anime wise)? I actually saw School Days again, or watched it again up to episode five. I can say the anime was completely "normal" until episode four, or maybe a bit into episode four, but for sure after that, it was pretty much going down hill (drama wise). He's just the epitome of someone who's unsure with what he wants within a relationship or finding a gf, etc. Pitiful. Guess Summer Days is not going to get made into a series, and not sure about Cross Days (since it's a bit too early for any predictions). [@Moggle] I'm pretty sure you're talking about polygamers. I might have to re-watch Shuffle!, I know I loved it when I saw it, but I don't remember everything in it. I know fans debated about who he finally chose in the end, lol. Harems can really kill you, can they? :O ------- |

Ummm... well, i guess the protagonist from School Days had two options: harem ending or death. He never bothered to consider other possibilities, like choosing one of them. Guess harem ending was too good for him :D |

If he just went with Sekai from the beginning, nothing would've went wrong, or nothing would've made School Days the anime it is known for now, then again I still love Koto and Sekai doesn't have a sister like Kawaii Kokoro. :3 ------- |

Well... for me the only okay character in there is Setsuna(that gloomy girl). There was at least some order in there while she looked over that idiot :) For some reason i remembered Sola... despite arguing in there too i really liked that one. Too bad they decided to fight, but the ending turned out sad, but superb. Moreover, i'm sorta the sky lover myself, like the main guy was. Not specialist in it, but still. |

Sola was a nice, overall anime. At least everyone's together now, with that ending, which makes it a happy ending for me. :3 The skies is what kind of made the anime unique, the images of the sky were gorgeous. I love the sky myself, though I don't remember all those cloud types anymore, haha, not since 9th grade. The OVA was very enjoyable as well. Never saw the second one, but if you saw the series I guess you don't really have to. ------- |

@ Moggle-san Hey you should be somewhat glad that the thread has come semi-active the last couple of days :D although it is just 3 of us that are actually discussing things..... Anyways yes i know the guy was pushed into the situation without his approval or knowledge (and that can be frustrating to some) but what irked me is his treatment of Shizuka once he knew about the arrangement. He didn't have to treat her the way he did, he didn't have to be nice but he also didn't have to treat her badly. That's all that frustrated me about him...you just don't treat girls that way..anime or real-life :P @ DAngel-san Final Approach is a nice series once you get past his antics...the real star is Shizuka cause she is just so adorable. As for your question, even if i didn't play the game i'd still think Ryo from Final Approach is the one who frustrates me the most. 'That guy' from School Days actually was a pretty good guy at the start of the series, it was only later on in the series he gets 'goofy'. So first impressions he wasn't that all bad. So like you said he was 'normal'... Sola reminds me of Gai-rei Zero to a degree when the 2 main heroines have to fight at the end & one end up dying. Oooops...sorry if i spoiled the end of Gai-rei if you haven't seen it yet. Not romance but a good series...one of the better ones the past season. Anyways the 2nd OVA of Sola was like you said. It kinda sets up the series before it all went down when Matsu & Yorito first met. The 1st OVA was a blast...some of the funniest things i've seen in a series 'special'. You know all about that right? |

[@Izumo] Guess in the end, they're still two of the most despicable characters ever seen. Sola and Ga-Rei Zero resemblance, really? Guess the only way I see it is how the series ended, but yeah other than that they're both pretty different, in respectable ways. Both had good endings anyways, though I hated seeing Yomi go, her and Kagura were one of the cutest couples I've seen recently in anime. Onto Sola, the first OVA WAS a blast, I enjoyed seeing them back in a nice special (I wish a lot of anime had specials/OVAs). I think I did see the second OVA, even if I have it dLed onto my computer or not, but ya I know. ^_~` As for School Days... wished to be remade inspired by the OVAs! That would be lovely, but not likely. ------- |

@Izumo: Yeah, i noticed it too :D We're the only ones around here i suppose, but well, the discussion proceeds, so that shouldn't really matter :) Well, i can't judge that guy as i only saw first episode of Final Approach :) Kinda occupied with Monster right now... come to think of it about Final Approach - it has quite a boring type, when someone suddenly(key word here) gets a group of girlfriends. So i'm not sure when i'll get to it. To stop saying same things to each other: Do you know of Special A? Finished it not so long ago and well... Despite all, there aren't much perfect characters like Takishima :) Episodes about running contest and about Megumi or Jun were amusing. Akira's attitude kinda annoyed me, but she's still an interesting character. As for the main character, i think she's some kind of unclassic tsundere :D |
