For me the be all and end all of all opening songs was SHOOTING STAR by KOTOKO from Onegai Sensei. Just the synth of the song is so moving. And not to mention the lyrics - especialy the last chorus which I'll include here :P Tou kuni kara, tadoritsuita, Kimi wa ano hikaru hoshi SHOOTING STAR Taemanaku sou, Matatataku youni, Mirai mo kimo mo dakishimeru to, Kono yozora ni chigau. Well I can't say my japanese in the best - but I can translate this much... The order of the words have been change for the last two lines though, just so you know. Also, you can replace 'you' and similar pronouns with anything as the lyrics don't actually specify a subject. You who came from that distant land, You are that shining star, that SHOOTING STAR twinkling in the night incessantly, As this night sky changes, I embrace both you and the future. epic.
