well anyways, in your case, you have
2 options to choose:

1. Make an avatar for yourself

2. Request an avatar

hope this will help you ^^
and btw if you prefer to choose
the first one then you will need
a software:

Adobe Photoshop CS2 [Recommended by ME]
GIMP
PAINT [Least recommended]

Link already made a tutorial for GIMP
and Paint. You can check it out there ^^

At lest thats what it says on it.

Well I might try the trial just

Okay I feel a little dumb for asking this, but I don't use a software you can buy, I use a program online. That's still okay, right? (I use paint as a last resort.)

its not bad to use online softwares
but they dont have all the tools you
need for making your avy..well I know
its bad but lately, the popular thing
to do is to download a software by using
torrent, or downloading a trial software
then search a serial number online.

@Eon

like DF said, 100kb for Ava , sig and profile pics.
but actually if your using CS2, you can make
the size half without lessening the frame by
just reducing the number of color used. Well read
the tutorials bout it.

plus it has to be read able.
