[Valentine trios][Outside Palace - Capital City - Imelda] [Snake] After being hit hard(both physically and mentally) by Sabrac,he was planning to have a spear appear from behind Snake and impale him in his leg when suddenly Miranda attacked Ezio. Sabrac: "Che." He quickly kicked Snake away and moved in a quick burst of speed. As Ezio summoned a shield to block Miranda's attack, she swung again. Sabrac managed to get in the space between Miranda and Ezio with incredible speed and barely got his broadswords in an 'x-pattern' to block her attack. He looked at the woman attacking Ezio and spoke to her. Sabrac: "Sorry, but it would be in bad business if I let you attack my employer. He has only paid me half of our deal after all and if he dies, I wont get the other half." Sabrac then looked at Ezio and spoke in a neutral voice to him, Sabrac: "I know that you can handle yourself, sir. However the warnings of that shield's original owner had me a bit apprehensive for your constant usage. Please release it and let me handle the rest, sir." Snake:(Hehe, can't let employer get a hit,huh....) [Hiryu] Wendy: "I cant, Hiryuu-san! The curse is so strong that I need at least an half an hour to break it! In your state you cant hold this barrier for an hour can you?" Hiryu:*looks at his injured shoulder* Ma,it's hurting quite a bit here, but I can still stand.... Soon Ryuu manged to crawl to them and hide next to them panting as Wendy looked at his leg. Halion was tying to heal him but all she could do was barely slow the curse down. Ryuu: "Okay, I guess I'm out of picture. Hiryu-no-ossan probably same. Malvin-sempai is out of question. So, should we retreat and regroup or let Aneki do the job here? For some reason the kid isn't copying her skills, or maybe unable to." Hiryu:But hey,not out for the count,buddy.... Wendy quickly examined his leg as Sabrac sent Snake flying. Wendy: "Ryuu-san, all you did was make it worse. This curse is just barely slowed and even then, its because you tore most of its surface area. But why is it not stopping...normally these types of curses would be halted but this one is completely different..." Sabrac then had engaged Miranda in battle and was an absolute terror as before. His weapon skills were of the highest class and Miranda was at a disadvantage of having to avoid getting wounded. Wendy looked at the desperate situation as her brother suddenly coughed up some blood. She opened his mouth and managed to clear his throat so he wont die chocking on his own blood. However, Sabrac's curse was spreading dangerously on him and he had very little time. Less then two hours before the curse manages to do enough damage that it would be too late to heal him. She had a determined look as he thought of her brother who saved her, who cared and raised her. Who protected her always and now he was dying. She stood up and walked out of Hiryuu's barrier. Hiryu:W-Wendy-chan?? 'I wont let ni-san die! Ezio-kun can copy everyone's abilities but needs to understand them. I have to time this just right.' [Hiryu and Snake] She positioned her self so that she was across from where Sabrac and Miranda were fighting. The two fighter's bodies would prevent Ezio from getting a good look at her. Sabrac was now taunting Miranda, Sabrac: "At any rate, your friends will soon be annihilated. They should have seen this coming from the start. If they couldn't see it coming, the fault lies in their own foolishness. Laughing them off as a group of idiots would be sufficient. Why can't you do that? If it were me, and my friends entered here without first gauging their strength, I'd be infuriated by their stupidity. Now join them in suffering!" Wendy then began to take a deep breath as the air around her began to sparkle and slowly quickly move into her mouth.More and more air entered her body as she built up her energy for this. When she was almost full, she barely managed to shout out through she was bursting, Wendy: "MIRANDA-SAN! LIEL-SAN! MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!" Hiryu and Snake:!!! She then sucked in the last of the air that she could and screamed, Wendy: "SKY DRAGON'S ROAR!" You would have to see it to believe what happened next. From the tiny Wendy's mouth, a powerful hurricane-like blast fired. The attack was massive with its spinning winds howling as they shot through their air towards Sabrac suddenly who was exposed. Snake:Uh oh,massui ne(not good)....! The assassin had a look of utter disbelief as he suddenly saw what was coming for him. He managed to sum it up perfectly, Sabrac: "Ah...shit." The attack smashed into him with the force of a hurricane as he barely managed to move to shield Ezio. It was so powerful that it punched him through the air. Sabrac was sent flying through the palace walls, several pillars and finally through King Oddswell's former throne before finally smashing into the wall behind it causing the wall to collapse on him. When the wind clears up,Snake was seen assuming meditation pose, with both of his katanas planted on the ground, unharmed. Snake:Phew, that was close.....If I use the Inner Shelter a second later,I'll get blow off too....And heh,so much for letting my buddies died off.Takes more than that to take me,the strongest samurai in Aigle, down! [Helmut] Crew 1:Sir,that's the signal. Helmut:Prepare to fire the cannons. Crew 2:But sir!Our men is still out there! If we fire no- Helmut:Just do it.That's our leader's order. Crew 2:Y-yes,sir!! Helmut:(Snake......You were there too....Hope you and your friends could get out from there soon....You better not get hit by the barrage I'll throw to you.....) [Hiryu and Snake] Back outside, Wendy took a few quick breaths to cool her throat after the attack before beckoning to Miranda, Excellen and Liel. Wendy: "Come-on! We need to take the chance to get out of here!" Snake:But where to.....? Elderly voice:Ooi,kochi oideiyo(over here)!! Snake:That voice....! Elderly voice:Go that way, meow~!The artillery strike will be fired soon!Hurry~! Snake:What did ya..... Just then,an artillery barrage hits the place close to Snake. Snake:Waugh?! *grins angrily* At the time....OTO-SAN!WE NEED TO GET OUTTA HERE!! Hiryu:But how do we get out of here? Snake:.....That way! Hiryu:But how did you...? Snake:A voice I knew told me to!And I can really tell from my gut instinct,it's that way..... Hiryu:Well,it's been fun,guys.....Have it at 'em,Raijuu!! *pulls out his katana from the ground* When he did so,the barrier disappears, with the lightning balls present, dispersing themselves at high speed and starts "playing" around, electrocuting anyone getting into the way. Hiryu:(Malvin's seriously injured,Ryuu-san's limped, and my shoulder hurts....Us warriors were taught to help the people where they're needed most.....) Wendy-chan,it'll be difficult, but is there anyway to remove the curse from all 3 of us? Snake:Oto-san,I'll take Malvin-san up first! Hiryu:Yeah, you do that,Snake. As for Ryuu.... Alisa:I'll help! Hiryu:Alisa-chan!But he's really heavy! It's too much for- Alisa:But I can't leave him like that! Hiryu:Well....Ooi!Anyone could help Ryuu-san out?He could use some help with big guy lifting ;D Snake:Oto-san,what about ya? Hiryu:Hmm,sana....... Snake:Ah,I know a good idea! How about carrying Wendy-chan on your back? Hiryu:Ooh,sounds like a good.......Wait,what about Malvin-san? Snake:He'll have to wait a little longer, unless you or her or both of you have better idea.... Hiryu:Hmm.....I don't mind..... Snake:Oto-san,you're injured on your shoulder, right?I know you want to,but carrying both Malvin-san AND Wendy-chan would be really stressful to your body! And didn't you say so,"A warrior help out those who needs the most?" Focus on taking care of your injury first, then we can switch place later! Hiryu:Snake......Well,alright then.Just be careful not to hurt our buddy any further, yeah? *kneels down* Take the ride,Wendy-chan.I'll need your help. Snake:Satte to.... *takes Malvin up* Hang in there,buddy....Your imouto will come to save ya soon.....(That voice....I knew you're here somewhere....Sensei....) Inner Shelter - Assume meditation pose to void attacks with the barrier erected upon usage.Nearby allies can take cover inside the barrier's radius(though limited since the range is small).Like Hiryu's Raijuu Barrier, requires metallic objects(albeit less so,since Snake only use both of his katanas) to bring up the barrier, and unlike many meditation trainings, this ability saps his strength instead of recovering it,therefore can only last for so long(at most,5 minutes or less, though Snake can also get up and cancel the skill's usage). Raijuu's Playtime - Release the barrier, allowing the Raijuu inside to move around freely(and attacks its owner's offending opponents).Requires Raijuu Barrier in order to use it. |

@All - The guards themselves are not Avirian, only their weapons are. This doesn't change a whole lot, but it does mean that they are not as physically weak. I had to clarify this for Icarael, so I have to clarify it for everyone. It's my bad, since I really didn't describe it very well. I'm not sure if people were waiting for me to post or not, so I'll just go ahead anyway. [Anvindr - Bridge] "They're getting shelled down there pretty bad. You need to make your call Serah. We don't have much time left before more ships show up, and this old girl has enough trouble in one-on-one battles." Nerina was pressuring Serah to make her decision as the crew aboard the airship witnessed some of the fighters get bombarded by artillery. "I understand. Ethan, do you have any advice for me?" Serah looked to Ethan on the far end of the bridge. He was focusing his attention elsewhere, looking for the attacking airship instead of watching the battle. "Well, I can see the ship. It's a standard model, and it's keeping a fair distance from the battlefield. Considering the accuracy of the cannons on that model of airship, at that range, and the size and importance of the buildings in the area, we should be able to get in and get out without taking much damage. The Anvindr can easily outmaneuver it, so if we manage to dodge the cannons during our landing and get those guys on board, then we would basically be in the clear." Eric raised his hand and decided to cast his vote in an attempt to speed up the process. "I say we go get them. Before anyone starts mocking me however, I know that you're going to boil down my reasoning to personality. . . 'quirks', but I have a good reason for my decision. This is our best chance to get some safe contact with people from Aigle. There's a good chance that they will want to at least hear us out as well, considering that they are being attacked by one of the leaders. Half of them are nearly dead anyway, so even if this turns out to be a bad idea, they won't be in good enough shape to stop us from tossing them overboard." Serah thought over all of the information being directed at her, and she began to twirl her hair out of habit. She eventually looked up and locked eyes with Nerina with a look that implied she wanted advice. "Please help me out Nerina. What should we do?" Nerina shook her head and shrugged. She put the telescope down and made her way over to the controls of the Anvindr in preparation for Serah's orders. "I'm sorry Serah, I don't know what to tell you. The Orphans of Avira is your group, so it's your job to make these kinds of decisions. I've always been right beside you though, just remember that. Got it, hot stuff?" Serah smiled and stopped twirling her hair. Nerina had reassured her and made her feel more confident about the situation. Eric and Ethan's points of view had also helped her get a better idea of the possible outcomes. She stood up from her chair and looked around to each of her friends before giving her order. "Alright, The Orphans of Avira will go down and extract the Aigle fighters. Nerina, please put the Anvindr down near the battle zone. Myself, Eric and Ethan will head down to the hangar and get ready for the landing. When the doors open, Ethan will try and get them inside while me and Eric will cover the doorway with our revolvers. Is that okay Ethan?" Ethan nodded without hesitation and took out his Anil Tonfas. "That's okay. I would be dead if it wasn't for you, so the least I can do is use that life to help out." The Anvindr quickly began to descend and swooped in on the battle location. [Outside Palace - Capital City - Imelda] Miranda deflected Sabrac's attacks before jumping back and launching her Shockwaves as a strange man landed nearby. He appeared to be fighting against Ezio and his forces, and he made a reference to working for him, but Miranda had never seen him before. He wanted to know if they had been hired by Ezio, to which Miranda responded in an exasperated manner. "Yeah, he apparently has a thing for hiring people. You must be, like, the 12th guy or something? Oh and just in case you're wondering, we're probably not getting paid." Meanwhile, Liel was getting even more fired up as she stood her ground the same as Miranda. Excellen quietly nodded in agreement with Liel and widened her stance. The ground suddenly shook however, causing everyone to lose their balance a little. The field was being bombarded by artillery from an Avirian ship somewhere in the distance. Ezio had a smile on his face and breathed a sigh of relief. "Finally. It's about time something was done competently around here. And you, Sabrac, you would do well to remember who's in charge here. You are here to fight, not to tell me how to do my job. Now, what attack to use. . . It's kind of hard to remember all of the abilities I've copied." A shadow quickly enveloped the area and Ezio looked up slightly to see an Avirian ship making its way toward the ground. It hovered low and opened the hangar door on the back as Ezio tried to wave it away. "What are you idiots thinking?! They can take out the entire ship from that height! I'll have your spouses skinned alive if you don't--" Ezio stopped shouting and studied the design of the ship. 'I don't recall seeing a ship like that during my inspections, and I definitely did not authorize one like it to be built.' A young man eventually revealed himself from inside the ship and tried to signal the fighters attention. "Hey! Come on! We can-" Excellen suddenly wheeled around and fired a stake at the airship. Ethan reflexively bent backwards and just barely managed to dodge it. He was visibly shaken, but nonetheless pulled himself back up and tried once more. "Would you please give me a chance to finish my sentence you psycho!? I know it doesn't make sense, but if you want to get out of here in one piece then you should really come with us!" Excellen reloaded another stake as she blankly replied to the young man, even though he wouldn't be able to hear her. "Psycho? That would imply that I was not thinking reasonably." |

[Wendy Marvell][Outside Palace - Capital City - Imelda] Miranda: "Sorry kid, now that there's no employer there's also technically no team. Everyone calls their own shots now." Wendy was in utter shock at Miranda's words. During the course of their journey to Imelda she thought that she had at least managed to become friends with the snarky woman who often had verbal sparing contests with her brother. When Ezio poke it just pissed her off. Ezio: "Is everyone down here on the surface deaf? I should have just taken over Daedalos or Lucine. Hell, even that Usha place would have been a better choice if these people are anything to go by. I don't have time for this, I'll just get the airships to clean it up." Wendy screamed at him: "You should have tried Lucine, Ezio-no-baka! Then you'd be sent packing with your tail between your legs!" Arden, Liel, Noct and some new guy seemed ready to join in the fight against Ezio. Wendy threw her hands up in frustration and joined them ready to fight. Wendy: "Fine then! I'll help fight, the faster we beat him the faster I can get them out of here!" Suddenly from the rubble of the palace walls a huge piece of stone flew out and smashed into the fountain sending water everywhere. From the dust, a familiar figure in black burst out and attempted to dropkick Miranda. She managed to block Sabrac and send a shockwave back after him. Sabrac dodged the attack easily and landed close to Ezio when several blasts rocked the battlezone. Sabrac looked towards the sky and mused at their airship that was shelling them now. 'Hmm, so the young master has started this already,' thought Sabrac to himself. Ezio then spoke to him in a warning, Ezio: "Finally. It's about time something was done competently around here. And you, Sabrac, you would do well to remember who's in charge here. You are here to fight, not to tell me how to do my job. Now, what attack to use. . . It's kind of hard to remember all of the abilities I've copied." Sabrac from his crouching position gave a cowed bow to Ezio and replied to him, Sabrac: "Forgive me, sir. I had no intention of undermining you. It is as you said, I am here to fight. However, the safety of my employer also hold priority even it may undermine his orders." As they got ready to attack together, a shadow quickly enveloped the area and they looked up slightly to see an Avirian ship making its way toward the ground. It hovered low and opened the hangar door on the back as Ezio tried to wave it away. Ezio: "What are you idiots thinking?! They can take out the entire ship from that height! I'll have your spouses skinned alive if you don't--" The people controlling the ship seemed to beckon Wendy and the others to get on. The first to respond were Snake and Alissa who carried Malvin and Ryuu into the ship. Excellen was next as he fire grapples in and pulled herself up. Hiryuu: "Wendy-chan,it'll be difficult, but is there anyway to remove the curse from all 3 of us?" Wendy shook her head at him: "I have to do it one by one. If I make a single mistake by dividing the attention to three people at once, I might fail and even make it worse." As Snake carried her brother into the ship, Wendy gave a sigh of relief. Hiryuu then attempted to give her a piggy back on when Sabrac struck. He dived at them with a large claymore and just missed. Sabrac: "You're the girl who just gave me a concussion. I wont let your friends leave that easily. I'll also take great pleasure in watching your brother die." Wendy's eyes clouded with hate as she snarled at Sabrac. However, being a little girl her snarl just made her look cuter. She spoke to Hiryuu, Wendy: "Hiryuu-san get going! I'll hold him off." Sabrac: "Hold me off? Brave but foolish words." Wendy sucked in some air as her body glew blue. She then glared cutely at Sabrac before speaking, Wendy: "Sky Dragon's Flower Scattering Dance!" Several of the leaves and flowers from the ground were picked up by the wind and at her command turned into a spiraling pink tornado. Wendy directed the tornado towards Sabrac who backflipped away. He then ran along the wall as Wendy's cyclone followed him before finally jumping on it and summoning two spears. He struck the spears into the wall as the attack hit him but this time he did not move an inch. Wendy leaped into the air and blue magic gathered around her arms as she screamed, Wendy: "Sky Dragon's Wing Attack!" Two whirlwinds generated from the sides of her arms as she swung them. The attack crashed into Sabrac and kicked up some dust. Sabrac skidded out from the dust and several swords fire from the air in from of him towards Wendy. She gave a squawk of surprise and ducked them. Sabrac was on her with a mace when she suddenly while dropping down had wind spin on her hands. Moving downwards, she pivoted in an arc and smashed her fist into him with the wind's concussive force. Wendy: "Sky Dragon's Crushing Fang." Sabrac: "Ooof." Sabrac grunted as he had the air knocked out of him. Wendy took the change to roll away near the ship. She had managed to delay him long enough for several of the others to get on and now she was one of the stragglers. Quickly running on she took a second to catch her breath when a spear impaled itself into the wall of the ship right next to her. Turning around she spotted Sabrac running towards the ship with all manner of weapons firing at them from around him. She ducked again to avoid a chain that wrapped itself around a pillar as Sabrac tried to pull himself into the ship. Wendy: "Guys, He's still coming!" ![]() |

(I assume we should be ending the fight soon, so I'll use some of Requiem's yet hidden features to do some showing off. Seeing how everyone's wounding each other and doing a lot, I guess I can't remain passive anymore.) [Imelda] Despite Ryuu being able to walk on his own, others decided to carry him to safety. As the mysterious allied ship appeared, Ryuu stood back up on both of his legs, acting as if there was nothing wrong, while one of his legs was seriously wounded. It wasn't healing fast, but the amount of curse was no longer able to hold off healing completely. He looked at Wendy, trying to hold off Sabrac while everyone is evacuating. Ryuu: This is getting annoying. Assassin, you're annoying. He jumped in front of Wendy, shielding her once again. However, this time he wasn't on defensive. With a one swing of Requiem he broke the chain that Sabrac shot earlier in two, using his blast shield. With the same swing, though slightly changing the direction of it, he knocked aside weapons, thrown at Wendy. Ryuu: Helion, use Iron Maiden on me. Helion: Huh... but that's... Ryuu: Don't worry. Something was different in Ryuu's voice, as it sounded either overly serious or lifeless. If someone looked at his eyes now, he'd notice they were pitch black, including whole eyeballs. Still confused, Helion nodded and took out her sword. Lifting it, still sheathed, she pointed at Ryuu. Helion: Iron Maiden. At about the same time, Ryuu impailed his stake in the ground. The spear of darkness appeared from the ground, but aimed at the shield, not at Ryuu. As it touched the shield, spear broke in pieces as if it was made of glass and disappeared. At about the same time Ryuu's healing rate greatly increased, as he was no longer cursed, while Halion was still healing him. Ryuu: Requiem: Burden Magnet. (While Ryuu sustains this barrier, all curses aimed at those inside it, including Ryuu himself, get drawn into Ryuu through Requiem and negated. That doesn't affect already active curses, but Helion's Iron Maiden overpowered what was left of Sabrac's curse only to get negated at the next moment. Ryuu can pretty much tank everything with the right usage of barriers, as he has many types of it, but he can only sustain one at time and he doesn't own an ultimate one. As for Requiem's recoil, Ryuu is now in berserk mode so he doesn't feel pain or fatigue) After pronouncing his skill's name, he took out the stake. While Ryuu was lifting his curse, Sabrac got closer, but still not close enough. After knocking aside another set of his missiles, Ryuu pointed his Requiem's stake at approaching assassin. Ryuu: Boost. The shield's opposite from the stake side suddenly opened up a bit, revealing some kind of tube. After it got revealed, tube instantly started bursting fire, launching Ryuu towards Sabrac in a way, similar to missile's propulsion. In a few seconds, Ryuu covered the remaining distance and was now only a meter away from Sabrac. However, he didn't attack him, but instead impailed the ground again, which happened almost instantly due to booster still working. Ryuu: Dodge this. Magnum Break. He said that while still approaching and the the moment he impailed the ground, the point where the stake was exploded, throwing Sabrac away with the explosion wave. The explosion wasn't that big, so it wasn't fatal or even didn't do any serious damage, but it made Sabrac hit the ground several times while being pushed away by it. (FUS RO DAH!) Ryuu, however, wasn't affected by it at all, as he was shielded from his own skills. He then unsummoned his shield and walked back towards the ship. His attack didn't kill or wound Sabrac, as he used relatively small explosion, so his allies wouldn't get affected, but it was enough to stun him for a few minutes. As he walked past Wendy, he mumbled something the way so she could hear him. Ryuu: Don't do that again. Your brother would worry. As he approached Helion and Halion, his eyes returned back to their natural green color... and the next moment Ryuu fainted. Halion was still busy healing his leg, that almost got teared off due to both injury and strain of what Ryuu just did, while Helion supported him while he was falling. Halion: Ryuu-sama sure makes us worry with his recklessness. One healing and one carrying they started crawling on the allied airship. |

[Liel Vanguard] [Outside Palace - Capital City - Imelda] Miranda replied Blacksteel's question, as Liel continued to hold her ground. Out of curiosity, she decided to check the fallen guards' identity, and she was thoroughly surprised. "They are not... Avirian?! That explains their physical prowess..." Then, 3 guards decided to engage Liel at the same time. She cursed at them, before parrying their strikes. Things once again did not favor Liel, until bombardments started to shower the battlefield. After that, an airship, once again presumably Avirian, is hovering with its hangar door open. Liel did not notice the ship until Ezio was yelling at it. "Again...?" Someone at the ship started calling out to the group. "Hey! Come on! We can-" Excellen turned at the airship and fired a stake at him. Fortunately he narrowly dodged the attack, before scolding her and get his message across. "Would you please give me a chance to finish my sentence you psycho!? I know it doesn't make sense, but if you want to get out of here in one piece then you should really come with us!" Liel responded back to the Avirian guy while she was fighting with another guard with an Avirian energy-based polearm weapon. "Are you serious? We just got ourselves tricked by your kind, and you want us to get in your ship?!" With a prediction and a dodge, Liel jammed her sword into her opponent before he could use his weapon. But things turned for the worst, as a ranger started firing his Anil based gun at her. She tried to intercept the shot with her sword, but no avail. It was too fast, and the projectile pierced through her armor like it is made of paper. Liel flinched her left shoulder, as the shot landed there. "Argh, projectile weapons...!" She moved and turned, trying to avoid the shots fired from the enemy before taking cover from it in a wall nearby. At that moment, more guards has joined the battlefield. Ryuu knocked Sabrac away from Wendy, before he retreated to the Avirian airship, with the help of his female companions. ![]() ![]() |

Excellen thought little of the airship-guy's words, instead concentrating on the situation at hand. Swinging the Stake's chamber out, extracting the spent cartridge, then loading an entire speedloader's worth of explosive cartridges into the chamber, Excellen locked the Stake, to turn it back into a melee weapon, instead of firing it as a projectile like before. With that done, Excellen smacked a charging guard unconscious with the side of her Stake. Avirian ship caused impulsive action in attempt to eliminate it. After revision of situation, now designated as neutral ship. Priorities are now to retreat from battlefield. Excellen looked at Liel, then at Miranda. While the latter was doing fine, the former had taken a hit. There would be little time to spare, Excellen thought. Slowly raising her Stake, pointing it skywards. With six sudden, loud explosions, a massive smokescreen formed around Excellen and the people around her. Under the cover of the smoke, Excellen slowly went over to Liel and Miranda, grabbing them by their hips. "Tesla Drive, maximum output! Boost!" A massive cloud of green particles surged out of the rear of the armor, propelling Excellen and her cargo load of two girls up into the sky, towards the low-flying airship. Higher and higher, until she was in range to toss them onto the deck. As the Tesla Drive reached it's operational altitude limit, Excellen quickly grabbed onto the side of the deck, dangling off the side of the ship with nothing below her. ![]() |

[Outside Palace - Capital City - Imelda] Liel had been grazed by a bullet from some form of Avirian weapon and enemy reinforcements were showing no signs of showing. Miranda was insistent on holding her ground and getting a hold of Ezio, but even she could see the writing on the wall. Members of the rag-tag group were beginning to fall one by one, and despite the fact that some new faces had joined the battle, there was little hope of them coming out of this alive. The Imeldan military was already massive in number, and the only real hindrance to their strength was poor equipment, a problem that had been taken care of by the Avirian's. Miranda was quite badly beaten up herself. One of the Avirian weapons and grazed the back of her leg, throwing her balance off slightly, and another had hit her across the back. "This is turning out way differently than I expected. Hey, grizzled dude, I don't suppose you brought an army with you, did you?" Before Miranda could get a response, Excellen had grabbed her by the hip along with Liel and rocketed them off towards the airship. Miranda held on tight as Excellen jumped them up into the air and threw them on the deck. Miranda winced in pain as she landed momentarily on her back. "Damn it that hurt. We really need to teach her to be more gentle. We're not all made of metal. . ." [Anvindr - Hangar] "How is everything going out there Ethan!?" Ethan was still trying to get everyone inside the Anvindr as he noticed one of the girls in the battle jump into the air past the hangar with two other girls in tow. He didn't see them land, so he could only assume that they had made it to the observation deck. "I'm still waiting on some of them, but in the mean time I think we've got another problem! I think that three of them made it to the deck, but they look injured!" Eric was quick to ask about which members made it to the deck, but was rebuffed by Ethan. "That's not important right now Eric!" Serah moved back from the door and nodded to Ethan in a reassuring manner before telling her plan to Eric. "I'll go and deal with it. You two keep the hangar locked down. I'll bring the others back down to the hangar after we get clear of Imelda." "Whatever you guys decide to do, I suggest you do it quick. I said the Anvindr could outmaneuver Avirian ships, which doesn't work when we're just hovering in place!" |

[Arden Wingshadow - Palace - Capital City - Imelda] As thing started to went not into Arden's favor, a chance to escape has shown up with an Avirian ship. Arden, which still doubted should he trust the Avirian that would help this time, decided to take the offer. He saw Excellen taking Miranda and Liel to the ship. "Right... now to try to pull this stunt off..." Arden sheathed his weapons and started running to the ship. He started to focus his power on his left foot, as a result, as he jumped, a small explosion from his left foot helped him reaching the ship. But as he nearly reached the ship, he fell to the ground. "Ow... Okay, one wouldn't be enough... lets try two." Arden then tries again, but now, after the first explosion, he created another explosion after it. He then landed on the deck of the ship. "Okay... Scratch my last statement, I rather not follow my greed than die following it." Arden then noticed his... now blown off shoes. "Darn, guess I need a new pair of footwear after this." Arden chuckled, then he felt his back hurting. "Ow... why must it stings when I'm not fighting." |

@All,especially Jon:Sorry to take so long. Was thinking of a dramatic escape ;P [Valentine trios][Outside Palace - Capital City - Imelda] Snake:OK,Malvin's up.......Hard to believe these Avirian's actually helping us....But who cared anyway? Just then, more artillery shells falls above the group and nearly bombarded them near the ship. One of the shells barely hit Snake, but sent him flying off instead. Snake:Ita ta ta ta......Man,that was a hard hit......Wa-?! (A shot were fired from the ranger's Anil based gun towards Snake, which Snake quickly reacts with a sword swipe on the bullet, deflecting it) Snake:The heck...?What is THAT thing anyway? Some kind of.....? (Hiryu and Alisa, along with everyone else, hops aboard the ship) Hiryu:Snake, watch out! That thing penetrates even tough armor and weapons. Snake:But I just de- Hiryu:Snake, look at your katana! It won't last if it shot for the second time! Snake:*looks at his katana, chipped from the deflection* Oh,man....This is not good.... Alisa:Nii-chan,everyone's aboard already!Hayaku!! Snake:(Making things worse,I'm the only one left,huh...Alright,you asked for it,and I'm giving it now!!!) Snake quickly runs back towards the ship, only to have a few guards blocking his way. Snake:Mou,JAMADA!!! Quickly slashed the guard in front of him,Snake keeps running like no tomorrow...However,his run ends up getting surrounded by more guards. Snake:Uh oh....I hate this situation.....And I'm so close to the ship..... Just then,a shadowy figure jumps out of nowhere and smacks one of the guards off with what it looks like a huge sword. ???:Snake, get going!I'll hold these guys off! Snake:Hey,you're.....! Elderly voice:The ship's getting off, meow~!Neow hurry~~!! Snake:....Sorry,buddy.... ???:Hey,I'm just passing by here.Besides, this is a good timing indeed.I'm in the market to find some new challenges anyway.....Now get going! We'll meet again soon! Snake:Just a little more,buddy......! Alisa:Onii-chan,ganbate!!! Hiryu:Come on,Snake! You can do it!! As the ship's finally taking off,Snake managed to jump off and grab the ledge, but the slippery floor makes it hard for Snake to hang on for long. Snake:Grrr,mou......! ???:Gotcha!! Snake:Ooh,thank you....That was a close call.... Closing the hangar door, the group finally breaths a sigh of relief.... Snake:Alright,guys.....I got some questions for you....Who were you guys anyway?I'm grateful for what you did back there, but being betrayed by your people makes us think twice..... Hiryu:Maa,maa.....They have their reasons for doing so.....Mind telling us anyway? At the very least,we could clear the misunderstandings here and there..... Snake:Man,so many things happened.....*pulls out his katana* And the heck is that stuff anyway?Even my katana were chipped by that projectile, and "she" was supposed to be the strongest blade ever made in Lucine! That blacksmith would be surprised if he sees this now ;D |

@All - Alright, the majority of people are on board the ship now, so I think it's time to move out. [Anvindr - Hangar] Eric called out to the communication device nearby as the battered group of fighters collected on board the ship. "Everyone's on board Nerina! Get us out of here!" 'It's about time. Hang on to something everyone!' The Anvindr shifted suddenly as Nerina pushed the airship to it's limit in order to escape. The Anvindr took a few minor hits as it quickly began to ascend, but it easily outran the cargo ships that comprised the present-day Avirian fleet. [Outside Palace - Capital City - Imelda] Ezio looked on as the unknown ship extracted the group and sped off out of sight. The Avirian ships he had ordered in moved in on the area to try and pursue, but they were far too bulky and slow to catch up. 'Crap. Well, I suppose it's not a major loss, but I will need to contact the others and get more information on that rogue ship. I can't have that interfering again.' Ezio looked around to survey the damage before heading back towards the palace. "Alright, we need to get back to work. Get the citizens to work on rebuilding this place, and send some of the soldiers out to the harbor. The regular shipment of weapons from Avira should be arriving here shortly. We've got better things to do than chase after them." [Anvindr - Hanger] Ethan breathed a sigh of relief as the shaking and sound of cannon fire slowed down. Eric was still covering the door with his revolver, so Ethan decided to try speaking with the people in the hanger to calm them down. None of them were in good enough condition to be too much of a threat, but some of them seemed irate, and that could end up causing a misunderstanding, which was the last thing Ethan wanted to happen. "Just calm down, okay? We're not like that kid. We'll explain why we rescued you and what's going on in exchange for some information from you, but before that, everyone needs to relax and not cause any trouble. The guy over there by the door is named Eric, and he will shoot anyone that makes any threatening moves. If you think that you can get to him before he kills you, then just know that the pilot of this airship will slam it into the ground at full speed if you do." [Anvindr - Deck] Miranda slowly sat up so as not to make her wound any worse. The ship had finally started moving, and when she looked out past the railing of the deck, she could see only white. A few of the others in the group were on the deck with her, which caused her to worry a bit as to the fate of everyone else. "That's certainly quite a view. If I hadn't been awake for the getaway, I would have guessed that I was dead and on my way to the afterlife." "You almost were." Miranda turned her head towards the doorway on the deck where a young woman had taken up position. She was holding the same weapon that some of the guards in Imelda were using and she did not appear to show the slightest bit of fear. "Please don't do anything stupid. We want to talk with you about what happened." Miranda used her scythe to hoist herself up and then to lean on. She tried to walk towards the young woman, but didn't make it very far before the pain stopped her. "Well, if you want to talk then maybe you should patch us up a bit and stop pointing that. . . whatever that is, at us." |

[Liel Vanguard] [Outside Palace - Capital City - Imelda] While Liel was taking cover from the ranged attacks by the guards, Excellen deployed a large smokescreen. Then she went to Liel and Miranda, before grabbing them and boosted away from the battlefield, to the hovering Avirian airship. In the end, Excellen threw both of them into the deck. Liel barely landed into the ship, face first, just a few meters away from the lowered hangar door. Miranda complained at the rough, painful landing. "Damn it that hurt. We really need to teach her to be more gentle. We're not all made of metal. . ." Liel followed suit as well, with a groan. "Ouch... You're right...!" The airship was lifted off once everyone was inside. As for Liel, she reverted back to her old weakly appearance shortly after the adrenaline rush and hate was receded. She puts the two handed longsword beside her, before leaning on a wall nearby, trying to take a rest. Liel was too tired to cause a ruckus with the 2 armed men guarding the hangar. The bleeding left shoulder is not helping too. She heard Ethan's attempt to calm some of the annoyed members of the ragtag group. Liel also noticed that Miranda wanted to explore the ship for a bit. Despite her wounds, Liel did not stop her though. As the ship moved, Liel decided to strike a conversation. "Who are you? And why did you save us?" ![]() ![]() |

[ Arden Wingshadow - Anvindr - Deck ] Arden looked around, he only saw Liel, Miranda and Excellen on the deck. He wonders what happened to the others. Then, he saw a woman wielding the same weapon as the Imeldan guards wielded. She talked to the group on deck. "Please don't do anything stupid. We want to talk with you about what happened." Miranda stood up with the help of her scythe, she then answered the woman. "Well, if you want to talk then maybe you should patch us up a bit and stop pointing that. . . whatever that is, at us." Arden couldn't agree more to what Miranda have said. "Yeah, some of us had some serious injuries... That is... If they somehow managed to get up here, Besides... We couldn't fill every detail of what happened from the start till now if we're injured." Arden then felt another sting on his back. "Achachachah... Yeap, we really need some medical attention here." |

@All - The RP seems to have suddenly died. I'm under the assumption that people are waiting for me to move things forward, so this is all I can do for the time being to try and breathe life back into this. [Anvindr - Bridge] After an initial period of tension among the group of travelers and the mysterious Avirians, the situation settled and everyone met at the bridge of the airship. Nerina continued to pilot the airship and watch for any Avirian ships, while Ethan stood back on to her with his hand resting on his revolver, carefully keeping an eye on everyone in the room. Ethan was moving from person to person in order to tend to their wounds, while Serah began to address the group of fighters. "First of all, I want to thank all of you for being civil in this situation, even though we were initially forcing you to do so with our weapons. We call ourselves 'The Orphans of Avira'. My name is Serah, the pilot over there is named Nerina, the man in front of her is Eric, the one tending your wounds is Ethan, and you are currently aboard our airship, the Anvindr. I understand that you all may be on bad terms with the people of Avira, but I ask that you hear what I have to say and do your best to cooperate with us in return for saving your lives." Miranda was flinching a little as the young man named Ethan was cleaning the wound on her back. She agreed with Serah about not being on good terms with Avirians, but at the same time, she wasn't in a position to simply walk away. "We don't have a lot of choice in the matter, do we? So you might as well get on with it. Why exactly did you go all 'White Knight' like that and pull us out of there?" Serah was a little taken aback by Miranda's comment. It had been a long time since she had dealt with anyone from the surface before. "I suppose you are correct. Well, the reason we came down to save you is because we are hoping that you will help us. You may have realized this from your altercation with that little boy, but Avira is not the place that the people of Aigle think it is." Miranda pulled her shirt back up as Ethan finished treating her wound and scoffed at Serah's statement. "What, you mean it's not all sunshine and rainbows in paradise?" Serah was hurt by Miranda's assessment, but she managed to pull herself together. None of them knew anything about Avira aside from the technology they have witnessed up until now, so it made sense that they would have a much brighter outlook on the country. "Y-you could say that, yes. I will try and make this as straightforward as possible for the time being, since it will apparently be hard for you to accept. Avira is controlled by her children. A mineral called 'Anil' significantly increases an Avirian's intellect during childhood, which is where all of our technological advancements have come from. Each generation of children manages to find some way to outdo the previous one in some way or another. The problem with this is that because of their contributions to Avira, the children believe that they are the only ones capable of effectively running the country, and with the weapons they have created, there hasn't been a way to stop them from doing it." Miranda couldn't help but laugh a little as Serah started talking about kids somehow managing to become iron-fisted rulers of a country floating in the sky. It all seemed a little too far-fetched to her. "You've got to be messing with us. You mean to say that you are completely helpless against a bunch of little munchkins? Just give the little brats a time out. Have the parents get off their butts and actually do some parenting." All of the Avirian's aboard the ship gave Miranda the same look. They were doing their best to deal with the people from Aigle's preconceptions, but it was becoming difficult for them to accept Miranda's disbelief in particular. Serah removed her revolver and aimed it at Miranda before responding to her. "I'm sure you already know that Avirian's are not physically strong, especially in comparison to the people of Aigle. So, think of me as a child of Avira and yourself as me. Knowing first-hand what this weapon is capable of, do you honestly believe you could do anything to defend yourself without using your supernatural abilities?" She paused for a moment as Miranda simply looked at her. Serah could see that Miranda was tensed up, so Serah lowered her weapon again, believing that she had proven her point adequately. "Now you see how the children of Avira maintain control. It does not matter if they are children. The point is that they possess the ability to create weapons, and defenses for those weapons, that the older generation cannot. Even though all of us have these weapons, the children created a defensive measure so that we could not use their own weapons against them. Using this to their advantage, it is simple for them to control the adults. When the weapons are not enough to retain obedience from someone, they make the family or loved ones suffer for it, by killing them all. With that kind of penalty at stake, there isn't much any of us can do to fight back. Only the orphans have the kind of freedom from consequence necessary to fight back. We don't have anyone or anything left to lose, so they have no way to keep us in line. There have been others like us, but unfortunately we are the only ones lucky enough to have escaped Avira and obtain an airship." |

[Liel Vanguard] [Anvindr - Bridge] After clearing out the tension between the ragtag band of Aigle fighters and the Avirians, everyone were gathered at the bridge of the airship. From there, Liel can see four Avirians. One of them, a woman with a beige colored hair began to speak with the group. I understand that you all may be on bad terms with the people of Avira, but I ask that you hear what I have to say and do your best to cooperate with us in return for saving your lives." While Serah was introducing herself and the other members of the Orphans, Liel paid attention to her every words. Her fatigue was gone now, as she managed to take sufficient rest, and the wound on her left shoulder was treated. Liel held onto her two-handed longsword, with its edge touching the steel ground of the ship. Miranda replied back to the leader of the Orphans. "We don't have a lot of choice in the matter, do we? So you might as well get on with it. Why exactly did you go all 'White Knight' like that and pull us out of there?" Liel gave a nod, agreeing what Miranda said. As for Serah, she was slightly surprised by her response. She continued on. "I suppose you are correct. Well, the reason we came down to save you is because we are hoping that you will help us. You may have realized this from your altercation with that little boy, but Avira is not the place that the people of Aigle think it is." Liel smiled and chuckled when she hears the word 'altercation'. "Altercation... is an understatement to describe our fight with Ezio." Then it is Miranda's turn to scoff at Serah's statement. "What, you mean it's not all sunshine and rainbows in paradise?" Liel noticed the effect of the response on the Avirian leader. It is the truth that everyone in Aigle expected a good life in the floating island. After recovering from the verbal blow that Miranda did to her, Serah proceeded to explain the real situation on Avira. After the long winded about the Principality was being controlled by the younger generations due to their immense contribution and superior intellectual skill thanks to the mysterious mineral named Anil, Miranda could not help but simply laughed for a little, before replying back. Liel tries her best to believe Serah's words, but she still cannot accept the facts. "You've got to be messing with us. You mean to say that you are completely helpless against a bunch of little munchkins? Just give the little brats a time out. Have the parents get off their butts and actually do some parenting." Liel commented as well. "I once again agrees with her. A mineral that causes a child to think like an adult... or even a gifted scholar, without any proper education doesn't make any sense." Then the situation went tense for a while when the Avirians aboard the ship stared at Miranda, thanks to her statement, and Serah drew her weapon before aiming at her, while saying a mind-evoking statement. "I'm sure you already know that Avirian's are not physically strong, especially in comparison to the people of Aigle. So, think of me as a child of Avira and yourself as me. Knowing first-hand what this weapon is capable of, do you honestly believe you could do anything to defend yourself without using your supernatural abilities?" Liel simply closed her eyes and understood the point Serah is trying to get across. After done holstering her weapon, Serah resumed her explanation about the situation in Avira. Apparently, the weapons that the Avirians produced cannot be used against their own. If the weapons fail to contain their loyalty, they execute their loved ones or family members. Liel felt sad when she listened to the explanation. "It seems they are in much worse condition than ours..." Thus, only the orphans are capable to revolt against the children of Avira, as they have nothing to lose anymore. But it seems Serah and her partners are the lucky ones that managed to escape with an airship. Liel takes a deep breath and holstered the 2H longsword to her back, while trying to digest what Serah has said. However, she has several questions. "Miss Serah, I have some questions to ask you, before I agree on doing your requests. Why did you and the others decided to fight against the so-called children of Avira? And why they take Imelda? Thanks to them, I just lost my chance to meet my parents... Probably forever..." After that, Liel pointed at Excellen. "Do you have any idea about her? What she truly is? Or, an it..." ![]() ![]() |

Excellen tilted her head to the side, with Liel's finger pointing true. Blinking a few times, Excellen turned her left arm, where her arm-shield was mounted. Faded stenciling stood out little from the dusty and dirty, once dainty red armor. "..." "My identity...?" Slowly processing the information, Excellen took a breath. "I am a human.", Excellen said while giving Liel a curious look. Stepping to the window, looking out at the vast, azure sky, Excellen slowly mumbled. "I am ATX-007-03C 'Excellen'...", she slowly recited from the faded stenciling on her arm shield, then slowly holding up her right arm, to her chest, almost like hugging the Revolving Stake. "...and this is my weapon." Excellen ended her speech there. Whether she couldn't say anymore, or didn't know anything more, only a few were privy to the answer. What kind of permission would restrict her from spilling the truth? There couldn't possibly be anything out there...or so one would think so. Excellen remained silent, staring out the window. ![]() |

@Jon: I was pretty much waiting for Roxas' response, but I guess I won't anymore. Time to rejoin back the RP :) [Anvindr - Bridge] With Ryuu still fainted and Halion still trying to fix his leg, not to mention eventual healing of other wounded, Helion was the only one able to participate in conversation. Unlike Ryuu she was not much familiar with technology. Though in past she knew of Mana Generators and technology that used Mana, she was not the one responsible for its research. She, however, listened to the conversation carefully. As Ryuu, who usually did all the talking, was unable to, she decided to try to mimic his way of thinking and speak, using it. Helion: So, simply speaking, a battle between Avrian is a battle between their equipment. I find it quite possible. But the problem is with experience and knowledge. What you described is pretty much unlikely, unless that mineral you mentioned grants those children knowledge and... what was that word again... inputs... memories. For example, if there are two generations, first one and second one, both having their intelligence enchanted by the same mineral, they are supposed to have same intellectual level. Naturally, the first generation, that lived for longer time, is supposed to have more experience, unless it stops learning. So, if two generations, starting from the same base, begin development of new weapon, first generation will have the advantage due to higher experience. So it is impossible for second generation to overcome first one. So, unless there only exists ONE generation, for example, if you just recently discovered that mineral, those children only surpassed you for one simple reason - you were slacking, maybe because you were looking down on them. So the current situation is completely your own fault. I'm sure Ryuu-sama will be willing to help you, but only as a reward for saving us, and because your children threat not only you, but surface too.... and because he has to punish betrayal. After she finished talking, Helion sighed with a relief, as she barely understood herself what she just said. She could only say that, because she accompanied Ryuu for a long time and could understand him well enough to mimic him. But it was still a heavy mental work, so she felt exausted after just one monologue. She however, composed herself to do one more remark, now to Excellen. Helion: Umm... Excellen-san, I pretty much doubt you are a human, due to many factors, your current answer being one of them. Normal human would not state his race, when asked "who are you?", as he won't even consider being asked about it. However, whoever you are, I don't think anyone here intends to question your humanity or, human-nature. I'm sure... She looked at Ryuu then, as if thinking if she understood correctly. Helion: I'm sure Ryuu-sama considers you just a bit airhead lady, or someone, unfamiliar with the world, meaning, given enough time, you will mature. Though, the knowledge about you... structure... could be useful, mostly to you yourself. |

[Malvinder Leonheart and Wendy Marvell][Imelda - Palace Grounds] As Sabrac attempted to come after them, Ryuu used one of his best attacks and sent him flying from the ship attempting to rescue them. Wendy quickly entered the sip as Snake set her brother down. Sabrac flew through the air and would have died if not for a chain appearing in his hands which he flung to a nearby spire. Using his momentum, he managed to get a semi-rough landing next to Ezio. Sabrac: "I apologize for the..." Ezio: "Don't waste your breath. They survived due to an unexplained factor. Come Sabrac, we have work to do." As they entered the ruins of the palace, Sabrac spared a fleeting glance towards the escaping airship. 'We will meet again. Next time, none of you will be so lucky.' [Anvindr - Bridge] Wendy immediately set to work to break Sabrac's curse. She sucked in air making her body glow bight blue as she used her healing magic. While slowly breaking down his curse, she listened as their saviors introduced themselves as 'The Orphans of Avira' : Serah, Nerina, Eric, and Ethan. As the one named Ethan came near to help her, Wendy shook her head and spoke, Wendy: "Step back. This is a cursed wound, I need to figure it's design before I can stop it." As Serah told them of how the children of Avira became more and more intelligent die to the effects of Anil and eventually took over, Wendy finally began to make way with the curse. Miranda tried to protect the possibility of it but they proved their point. Wendy then realized it was do or die time for Sabrac's curse. She opened her mouth and began to suck in as much asi as she could making it a blue light show near her. She poured her magic into Malvin's wound as she spoke. Her eyes glowed blue with power, Wendy: "Sky Dragon's Aria." Slowly but surely, the cursed on Malvin's wound began to break apart until finally it was destroyed. Wendy quickly poured her healing magic and managed to heal most of the damaged done to Malvin. Now it was up to her brother. She gave a cry of joy as tears of happiness leaked down her eyes. Wendy: "I did it! I broke the curse! He's going to live...big brother is going to live!" Wendy seemed to both laugh and cry at once. She was just to happy. She then walked over to Hiryuu and gestured Helion and Halion to bring Ryuu to her. When they complied, she began to destroy their curses as well. It was easier now that she knew the formulas needed to tear the curse apart but still slow going to make sure she thoroughly removed it. Finally, she slumped down in pure tiredness. Breaking the curses had drained her badly and she would need to rest soon. Wendy: "Halion-chan. I've destroyed everyone's curses. Now you can heal their wounds easily. I-I'm really tired right now...." She then looked at Excellen and gave her a tired smile. Wendy: "Excellen-san is still Excellen-san. Nothing will change that you know. You're still our nakama, I know brother will agree with me too." She then looked at Miranda and her eyes dropped as her tiredness began to take it's toll on her. Wendy: "Miranda-san...thank you...for helping to...save big brother...you...are really a...nice...friend...I know...big brother....probably thinks...so...too...." With that, the tired young girl drifted off to sleep lying in an uncomfortable position. Both her and her brother's fate were in their friend's hands." [Malvinder Leonheart][Unknown Location] Malvin found himself in a strange, white place with several clouds and an intense brightness. "Whose...hand is this?" He said aloud, while looking down. "Huh? It's my hand?" He then looked up to see the figure of a woman with bright blonde hair. The figure turned around slightly causing him to gasp, Malvin: "Lucretia?" The woman's lips smiled and there was nothing more. ![]() |

[Anvindr - Bridge] After explaining the situation to the group of warriors, Serah soon found herself bombarded by questions from a few members of the group. One of the girls questioned the motives of Serah's group as well as the motives of the young boy. Their own motives were simple to explain, but the children's motives were a bit more difficult. The girl also asked about one of the other members of the group, who she referred to as Excellen. "We fight against them because we want to be free. All of the older Avirian's want it, but they are not in a position to do much about it. Of course, a small group like ours don't have much hope of bringing about change either, but at the very least we can try. I'm afraid I can't tell you why the children would take over Imelda. Despite their technology, they wouldn't be able to control any of the countries in Aigle the same way they do in Avira. It is also risky for them to be on the ground like that, seeing as how there are countless abductions during Anil searching missions. To be honest, it doesn't make any sense." Serah then looked to the armored girl that was singled out. She vaguely recognized the design of the armor, but she had definitely not seen it used in that way. "I'm sorry to say that I also cannot answer the question about your companion. The armor is certainly Avirian made, but I do not know who the girl is wearing it, or even if she is fully human. Since you are asking me, I would assume that she does not have any memories of Avira. Where did you meet her?" Miranda had finally relaxed after her tense standoff with Serah, and decided to chime in. "We found her in a prison in Lucine. Some black market organization had a bunch of Avirian kids locked up there, including Excellen. I poured some of this green liquid stuff into her armor and she came to." Serah instantly recognized the green liquid that Miranda was holding and it all started to come together. "I see. She must have been a military experiment that was discarded. The Avirian children tend to quickly discard anything that they deem outdated or a failed experiment. Her armor must run on liquid Anil, which is what you have there in that vial. That's about all I can piece together unfortunately." Serah then turned her attention to Helion, who began rambling off theories related to Avira and the children. Serah admitted to herself that it was well thought out, but the girl was a bit too presumptuous. "You seem to have it all figured out, but I'm sorry to say that everything you are theorizing is incorrect, or at the very least, lacking crucial information. The truth is, none of us really know how Anil works. The children are the only ones smart enough to know how to use it, but they would obviously not impart that wisdom to us. You see, Anil only provides Avirian's with their incredible intelligence during their childhood years. Once we move into our teenage years, the effects of Anil quickly wear off. None of us have the same level of knowledge that we did when we were children. We don't know how to control Anil or use it in such complex ways. That leaves us in our current predicament. We live a comfortable life thanks to the advanced technology that the children and Anil provide us, but we also live in fear of what could happen to us at any given moment. In summary, I do not claim to have all of the answers that you are looking for, I am simply telling you the facts." Although the conversation was interesting in terms of the details regarding Avira that were being provided, Miranda was growing tired of listening and wished to get straight to the point. The Orphans of Avira had rescued the group of warriors to help them, but so far they had not explained what form of help they required. Whats more, the conversation seemed to make their objective even less clear. "Alright, before we continue the history lecture, could you please tell us what it is that you want us to do? You talk about freeing your people, but you also flat out admit that those little monsters are responsible for providing you with a comfortable life. What are we supposed to do about that? Hell, what are you supposed to do about that?" All the members of the group remained silent for a moment, unable to answer. The room suddenly took on a very ominous air and Miranda was beginning to regret the way she phrased her question. Eric finally broke the silence, getting the courage to answer. "There isn't really a way to solve this, but there is a way to bring about change, whether for good or bad. Simply put, we want you to help us cripple the power source that keeps the islands of Avira airborne. There is a very large piece of Anil under the main island which keeps Avira in the sky. If we can knock that Anil off of the island, then they will descend to Aigle. The large amount of small pieces of Anil stored in Avira should prevent the fall from being fatal for the Avirian people. With Avira on the ground, the people will likely be able to escape to other countries, or at the very least, warriors like yourselves will be able to get into Avira. That should even the playing field a bit." |

[Anvindr - Bridge] Arden listened to what the group's lifesaver said, they're from Avira, just like Ezio. But, they explained that the childrens of Avira decided to rule the country with the knowledge they had from Anil, the mineral that seemed to be what Ezio said he would reward the group. They then explained that they couldn't fight back as the childrens made their weapons unusable to the older generations. Helion then talked about her theories on Anil,Avira, and the kids, but her theories were shrugged off by Serah as it was lacking crucial information. She continues that Anil's effect wore off by age. Miranda then cut off the talk of history as she asked Serah on what they want the group to do. Serah then said that her plan is to make Avira descent to the ground. Arden somehow didn't like the idea, but he shrugged it out. "I don't really like the idea of bringing down Aigle's most technologically advanced country to the ground... But, you can entirely sure I'm in this plan, as long as the payment was as good as the risk." Arden paused for a while, then continues. "Nah, I'll accept it even if you didn't pay me. As long as I could get to that little runt and punish him for tricking me." |

[ Lord Blacksteel | Outside Palace - Capital City - Imelda ] The thunder of engines sounded to Richter's left, and he whirled around and looked up. As he did so, a blast of wind whipped against his face. The sleek gray form of an Avirian airship was descending towards the battlefield. "More of them!?" he said, swinging at the soldier who had evaded him. Steel clashed against steel as their blades met, sparks flying from the point of contact. As he looked behind him, Richter saw the rest of his supposed party heading for it and clambering onto the deck. "Sorry," he said to the guards closing in on him, "but I don't think I'll be dying today!" He smashed one mailed fist against the guard's face then turned and ran for the ship as it slowly began to lift off. His lungs burned with each breath and his legs ached with exhaustion, but he willed himself on. Dammit, he thought, don't take off without me! With one final burst of speed, Richter threw himself forward onto the deck. But instead of landing right, he slammed into the steel floor and slid off. Panic seized him and his hands shot out, finding the first thing he could grab and clutching around it. As he felt his feet dangle out into empty air, Richter's heart seemed to stop, and he struggled, kicking wildly and "Son of a--!" Arms straining, Richter lifted himself onto the deck and collapsed just as the door shut behind him. Turning over, he spotted the rest of his companions through the door to the bridge. May as well get to know what's going on, he thought. Pulling himself up, he entered the bridge in time to hear one of the crew explaining things. As he listened, he heard something about the whole of Avira was controlled by the children and their monopoly on Anil. "Hold on a minute," he said. "Lemme get this straight. Avira is ruled by a bunch of kids? Kids barely out of their diapers? And they're using their super-advanced weaponry to keep your populace in line through fear?" Richter burst into laughter. Never before had he had a job that turned ludicrous this fast. As he tried to calm down, it struck him that his plan to retire on Avira was basically impossible now. And then he began to laugh uncontrollably again. |
