Maka, she is cute

:P sorry i'm late to post...

no, i've really taken a shine to Kid !! it kills me to see he wont attack things when they are perfectly symmetrical ( egyptian mummy ep ? ) and it was funny when he left the little smiley face ^^

As Insanity has listed they all have quirky personalities, but it's when they come together that it's so good to watch, personally what makes up good books, manga or anime really is who and how people come together...

e.g: in Bleach u've got Ichigo, Ishida, Chad, Inoue and Rukia ( sorry if i've left any out )

in Naruto u've got all the different teams etc.

and my favourite book ( series ) are the same= impossible characters coming together, all with different characteristics, and doing amazing things ^^

back to topic .... depends really, i still watch it on Veoh with subs, but i dunno, i usually just stream AND i'm picky about quality which crosses off youtube and they always show it in parts T_T

yes, character interation is an integral part of a story, and Okubo-sensei does that very well. the characters, even the ones supposed to be allies and friends, clash with one another, and yet they work together well and flow around those differences. if every character is the same and there's no conflict, then it's unrealistic and uninteresting, because real life isn't like that.

actually, speaking of Naruto, wouldn't it be hilarious if he and Black*Star met? they are awfully similar in personality (except Black*Star takes it to extremes)

@citra: Maka is cute (just for the record, i am a perfectly straight female; doesn't mean i can't call a girl cute). she reminds me of myself at times (the violent parts of her anyway...i'm not a very nice person offline XD).

EDIT: you know, i've been reading fanfics about Soul Eater, and i've realized a major flaw in all of the recent Christmas-based ones...

IT DOESN'T SNOW IN THE DESERT.

Death City is situated somewhere in Nevada (it is!, in the middle of the desert if the surroundings are any clue. sure, it gets chilly at night in the winter, but it doesn't snow. and yet many, if not all, of the fics i've read so far have mentioned it snowing in Death City, as well as many other things (one had it near the ocean somehow, and last time i checked, Nevada isn't anywhere near the sea). as much as i enjoy these stories, i often find myself biting my tongue to avoid snarking at the authours for not doing their research.

(sigh) unless they do, i don't think that anyone is going to argue with you about the snow... ;)

i think it would be great to see Naruto and Black Star clash- although i can't see them ever being enemies, just good friends that get down each others throats :D

Re: Soul Eater

no, they wouldn't be enemies, although i'm sure the fights they would get into would certainly make them seem like it XD not to mention there would be a third person in the "Baka Combi" of Soul and Black*Star when they're being civil. THAT could cause a lot of destruction.

I think Black Star and Soul work well together- like brothers ^^ and the episode where they tried to take on Kid together is one of my favourites !!

sorry, i haven't had a chance to catch up with episodes yet T_T have too see about that after holidays ( sigh, work, work, work )

P.S: In the new song- you don't even get to see Kid properly !!! Not even a second !! Although it's based more on Maka, they could've given Black star and Kid a little more screen time !!!

Re: Soul Eater
Link | by on 2008-12-27 08:34:52
they do work well together (well, it's more so Black*Star's stupidity infects Soul). they make good friends. just...their antics, if their fight against Kid (as well as the time they were running around the school trying to find out who took the Anubis mission) is any clue, can be a little destructive. if not to anyone else, destructive to themselves.

ah, that's okay. not everyone has time to do what they want ^^U

which one? Paper Moon (the opening) or Bakusou Yumeuta (the ending)? although...both of them do mostly focus on Soul and Maka, but i think that's because even with Black*Star and Kid (and their weapons), they seem to be the main focus of the series. they have the most conflicts both internally and externally out of anyone (the Black Blood in Soul, insanity, Arachne and Medusa, their bond with one another, etc).

Yh, btw, if ur on the anime, which episode r u on ? i've finally managed to catch up with the episodes ^^ and there only seems to be up to 35 and apparently you guys've watched 36 already ? anyways, that's not important, i'll get my share sooner or later..

( in Paper moon ^^ )

oh yh, i got what you said up until the last paragraph-

""" They seem to be the main focus of the series. they have the most conflicts both internally and externally out of anyone (the Black Blood in Soul, insanity, Arachne and Medusa, their bond with one another, etc). """

:3

i'm on episode 38 at this point, so you may have to do some searching for the episodes you haven't seen yet ^^U

ah, well, i kinda trailed off because i forgot what i was saying partway through. but what i meant was, since they (Soul and Maka) seem to have to overcome so many more obstacles both individually and as a team compared to the other teams, they are the main focus of the series. they have to deal with the Black Blood in Soul, the possiblity of being taken over by insanity is a constant looming threat (in Soul's case anyway), and while it's not as much of an issue now, they still have communication issues with one another and don't tell each other everything that's on their minds (Soul's particularly guilty of this). not to mention the number of battles they've been through.

compared to Black*Star and Kid's teams, they have more to overcome. but i guess that's only at this point, and that may change later on in the series.

AHH ! this thread is slipping !!- anyways i just wanted to reply because i haven't been for ages- and i have read ur comment- but there isn't really a certain answer or reply to it is there ?

( on the anime ) what exactly is Maka's view on Soul's black blood and that little demon thingy that's always THERE

Re: Soul Eater
Link | by on 2009-01-03 12:13:48
hm...i'm just not really sure how to elaborate more on what i'm trying to say...

actually, in the anime (as well as the manga, i've noticed), Maka doesn't seem to dwell on the Black Blood inside Soul. i think she just kind of accepts that it's there and figures there are other things to worry about. if she was worried, she'd be more worried about Soul as a whole, as he tends to bottle things up and confront his problems on his own.

unlike with Black*Star and Tsubaki who seem to automatically understand what the other is feeling and why (on Tsubaki's end anyway), or Kid and the sisters who accept each others faults and respect one another for them, Soul and Maka need to communicate more in order for things to be resolved between themselves, and they both find difficulties doing so. one of the steps they have to make in order to properly grow within the series is reliance on each other, since both of them want to protect the other from being hurt.

...i really don't know what i'm getting at anymore >.< i feel like i'm blabbering without getting anywhere or explaining anything.

I watched the first episode a few days ago, and I was so amazed with the story that I marathoned all 38 [currently out] episodes in one day xD. I really like this series, even though I don't like shounen anime that much. For some reason I really like this series, and I think it is because it doesn't put all the focus of the story not only on fighting [though there is a fair amount] but the interactions with the meisters and their partners and how the bonds between them make them stronger as a whole. Not to mention is hilarious at times, too. I plan on reading the manga, as well.

My thoughts on the Black Blood: Maybe it's because she has faith in Soul's ability not to give in to the Demon's tricks and that she knows he has the will to overcome the Black Blood's insanity. Or maybe she underestimates it...

but here's what puzzles me: What's is up with Chrona. I had so much faith in [him, her?????] and what happens!! I hope that Chrona realizes what's really important and true friends soon.

yay, someone else to discuss things XD a conversation like this starts getting old with only two people. hurrah for archive binges!

i guess faith and trust in Soul would be a good reason why Maka doesn't seem to think much about it. i'm sure if it becomes a big enough problem to the point it interferes with her and Soul's ability to resonate again, she'll do something about it.

i'm not sure what Chrona will do in the anime. i've read the manga and i know what she [we've (or at least i have) determined that Chrona's a girl since Ragnarok attempted to lift her dress/robe in episode 22, and i don't think a male would typically worry much about that] decides to do there, but considering the anime is taking a different route from the manga, it's hard to predict what Chrona will do. i can see why she's so conflicted; obey her mother and master that she's listened to her whole life and therefore betray her new friends, or do what she feels is right and ignore orders to help said friends. it's a sign of how human she's become, since it's a typical human dilemma.

WOOT ! Hi-5 for the anime ( again ) wow, ur really hard-core- i would love to be able to watch so many episodes in a day but i'm always busy T_T thnx for both ur comments on the Maka-Blackblood-Soul thing. I wanted a change of topics aswell... it seems me and darkinsanity are almost dominating this thread lol- thnx for ur post !!!

i think Chrona's a girl......... dunno- there are several incidents where this has happened and i've mistaken girls for boys ( in anime )but this is mainly intentional and they want to keep it open.....

Re: Soul Eater
Link | by on 2009-01-03 14:15:42
XD anime does have a tendency to make people get confused about genders...actually, maybe stuff from Japan as a whole, because we've got characters like Kuja from FF9 and people like Mana from Malice Mizer. so really, don't feel bad if you get confused XD especially when they don't really specify.

Re: Soul Eater

there WAS this one time in NARUTO ( i'm terrible at names ) where the person was like totally a girl but apparently it was a boy !!! this was earlier Naruto but yh....so weird- even dressed like a girl... can't really remember the exact details, but this was the first kinda important mission for Naruto's team...

Re: Soul Eater
Link | by on 2009-01-03 14:48:21
I think that was Haku from Naruto when they were up against Zabuza. Wow, I can't beleive I remembered that xD. I thought Chrona was a girl, but then I saw the in the subs they were refering to her as he an I was like O_o. And there was that one time when she said "how to deal with girls, I just don't know" and I was like o_O but I'm pretty sure she's a girl now because of what you guys said. It looks like I definitely have to read the manga to find this out what she will do, then. I just hope she makes the right choice.

xD Mokona4modoki, lol I'm not that hardcore. I'm on break now so I have too much time on my hands. And I did take a nap in between >.> I hope to post here every so often so it wont be just you two xD. I can't wait for episode 39, but it comes out when shcool starts so I dunno what's gonna happen with that.

but, I have another question to toss at you guys:what about Maka's mom?!? I hear about her all the time but I've never seen her. Has she made an appearance in the manga? I'm really curious about her.

I'm on break too, but going back to school this Monday....( nooooo !! )

No appearances for Maka's mum yet....

Yep that's the one - Haku....

Now that you mention it, Chrona seems like a boy now T_T lol- see you around : )

Re: Soul Eater

So I'm casting doubt on Chrona's gender xD. I don't want to go back to school monday either ;3; Less time to read the manga.

Less time do anything T_T ...

lol- let's see how it goes with Chrona- i've been surprised a couple of times b4, so i'm keeping my mouth shut, though i do think it's a girl...... which means Chrona could definitely be a boy.......

btw, just asking, do u happen to make siggies ? ur ones r pretty good :3

EDIT- btw, where abouts do u live- it's hard to find ppl online at the right time- i'll be back posting on Sunday, but i'm going Dreamland now....
